They added in Lucas to advertise for Mother 3.

The last third-party character was going to be Capcom's Megaman, But Capcom asked Nintendo too late.

They should've taken out marth because he's cheap. I would've put in megaman, dixie kong, king k rool, waluigi, daisy, bowser jr, geno, mewtwo, roy, bomberman, tails, knuckles, shadow, blaziken, etc
