I just got a 2000 mustang v6 5 speed i love driving it on the snow and ice so much fun hearing the motor roar sliding around :p i just wish my exhaust was a bit louder and had different wheels
That bitch at the end Is so annoying. It doesn't matter if it's a mustang or camaro their both rwd so they both are going to get stuck that's why you get a shovel and dig them out or put bags of sand in the trunk.
College students... and you couldn't figure out to 1) move the pile of snow behind it. or 2) get people to push from the front.. and it would slide out like melting butter... haha. But entertaining video!
my brother bought a 02 mustang gt for his main car priorities fuck right? even with the best winter tires he could not go up hills or give it any gas in a turn at all he had to coast it into a turns and even a couple of inch of powder snow could no even pull from lights without gettin sideways ...just put them up intill spring
Hammering the throttle does two things...Takes a large amount of snow outta the way of the tire, but second, it heats the tires so they become a bit softer and get a better bite...Even a little is better than the harder compound of all season tires...Summer tires, simply forget it...
I just bought a '95 GT convertible. I thought I'd be able to back up my driveway. Let's just say it didn't happen until the snow was pretty much gone. I don't get why some of you were hammering the gas so hard but sweet cars anyways :P
I have the same exact car...40th anniversary, rag top, GT. Why in the hell would you it expose it to that kind of shit. I live in Canada and store it in the winter. Poor Stang :(
@HottNurse1 Actually You dont have the same EXACT car because the only Rag top in this video was 2002 V6 mustang. It was not stored in the winter because at the time we were college students, and all we had was a parking lot. That car is long gone now, not to mention it was a piece of garbage automatic V6
@9eightgtee Well, The good thing was.. great job, you had a mustang. my RC 1967 Mustang Really ATE some snow, it still works. did it eat snow 10 mins ago? YES.
I drove a 2006 mustang for a month of winter with the stock summer pirelli tires Ford gives you .... I could get around..just going really slow..like 30mph / 50km/h ...
Yeah so I put on some nokian all season tires. Mucch better. I got no problems...probably could rip shit apart if I had real winter tires.
I'm in Canada and this sorta amount of snow is prettty typical in december/jan.
@TwistyMcFisty Generally, both are high-torque, front heavy sports cars. All Mustangs - as far as I know - are rear wheel drive and therefore have trouble getting traction in the winter. The same would go for most Camaros, but I believe a few front wheel drive models were made, and they'd be better. I still recommend the Mustang.
@anonymouse876 Front wheel drive camaro!! Don't think so buddy. And any rear wheel drive can be used in winter as long as its winterized. What do you think they did in the 60's and 70's, when every car had a big V8 and RWD.
@TwistyMcFisty No the reason why the camero was able to get out with easy is beacause of the amout of the snow on the back of the car giving it better traction
@14kswiss I've abandoned my idea of getting either of them. Getting a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited instead. That thing plows through snow like nothing else.
@vupersillain I think it is the drivers that struggle more than anything. I have a Corvette Z06 I take to go skiing every weekend here in Colorado with no issues. For some strange reason it doesn't like going up my driveway even after it is shoveled, but showpacked mountain roads it handles without issue. Only got stuck once, but got my room mate's truck stuck on the same trip so I didn't feel so bad about it after that. No snow tires to date either.
theyre soo light. even with good tires and "all the power they have" they still need a lot of weight over the rear axle or they arent worth a shit in the snow.
bridgestone blizzaks are the way to go. they are worth their weight in gold. just get a set of cheap ass stock 94 15" mustang rims or equivalent and mount blizzaks on there. SKINNY blizzaks(205,215-ish wide), dont go wide. the wider the tire the worst there are cause you cant cut through the snow. i know blizzaks arent cheap but you will save a shit load of time getting out every day and they are wayyyyy safer.
hey stangstevegt... i know the blizzaks are ok but i put like 25000 km on my stang in the winter and for me that doesnt mean permenant snow... so im a fan of the cooper weather masters ive gotten about 50000 on mine and while they will be done when summer comes around they have proven to be a damn good tire...but ill have the BFG Gforce KDs on soon enough haha...
mustangs are so bad in the winter. I couldn't go up a 160 degree incline in 4 inches of snow. That's why I'm on here, for tips. I'm not going to spend money on tires or an LSD, so chains is prolly my route to go.
wat was that like a mustang club? lol. u kno (just a suggestion) it PROBABLY (not from experience just wat ive heard) would have been easier if sumbody sat in the trunk, cuz then the tire would be hitting the ground a bit more n it'll have more traction. just a thought :)
