He's gonna be a pitcher. Even at that, I wouldn't describe his arm as loose. He comes straight over the top, when his natural arm slot would really be a 3/4 one, maybe even a lower 3/4 one. His mechanics are OK, but not very good overall. He moves his head a lot(in part to him coming straight over the top), and he moves to slow. If he truly can hit 87, if he dropped his arm slot down, didn't come to a stop when he lifted his leg, and moved his ass down the mound, he'd hit 90-91.

@tng150 i have to take that back. in our league, this year he would be good, but next year he would be average. i play in socal. we have a team in our league where they have 4 juniors who will either be drafted or go off to d1 colleges. plus there are other guys who will go off to d2 colleges and d3 colleges.

I've seen a lot of 2012 guys at multiple prospect camps and Matt looks pretty good to me. Smooth repeatable mechanics, pretty good glove and solid batting approach. Would like to see him drive the hip better on the swing and maybe explode a bit more with extension on the arm action. Good balance and good feel for pitching. I'm not a pro, so I would ask a professional instructor for advice.

sorry, but i dont see how this kid is a top prospect.. he pitches straight over the top which is like the easiest to hit. Then he has some funny motion as a ss that doesnt look right. Be smart about picking this kid up...

the best part of him at ss was the running play. he didn't seem fluid at all.

his swing was a nice line drive swing, but it looks like they were weak hits. if he kept his weight back more, he would be able to really drive it in those gaps

@shadowhawk72 You do realize that at showcases you have to take all of your ground balls from short wether you play 3rd 2nd or short and most 3rd baseman dont look as good at short and second of all how the fuck is he hitting weak hits you pussy. You probably cant even hit it out of the infield faggot.
