Nice! I was at this game. When i went to chicago as a 7th grader with my family to visit my sister @ graduate school, we were doing the tourist thing in the sears tower. Inside we stumbled upon a ticket office with a sign written in marker that said we have bulls knicks tickets. My dad got me and him two for 60$ each. They were 3rd row upper deck at an angle. Got there an hour early and watched craig hodges make about 80 3s in warm ups. One of my favorite sports and family memories. Go Bulls
Trent Tucker with his shaggy beard looked like some bum begging for change. He was an embarrassment to the Spurs because after the game he'd be panhandling outside the Hemisfair Area with a sign that says I PLAY BASKETBALL FOR FOOD.Last I heard 15 years ago he was under the bridge in Chicago he just traded his Championship ring for a bottle of Thunderbird.
this was a nice game. but the announcers are much better to listen to than any chicken crap music. the announcers provide perspective. put the game up with the announcers.

Kobe and M.j are related they are both the one man team am not saying ethier of them suck just that their team sucks and they are some fucking ball hugs
What the hell are u talkin bout. Later on in Jordans career he had one of the best teams. & U gotta be somewhat of a ballhog 2 be the type of player Jordan was. All the indivual spectacular plays & accolades didn't come from passing all the time.
I always feel sad for the Knicks fans, Cavs fans, and Jazz's fans. They all for some reason seemed like MJ's whipping boys, even they were all legit contenders at certain point.
actually, boxers are taught to fight backpeddling, it convinces your opponent to not chase you. nobody wants to get hit unless theyre punchy like yourself
Holy tits are you serious!!! I was a twelve year old kid at this game. My parents and I were visting my sister up there and my dad got us two tickets. I still thank him to this day for giving me that memory.
Jordon was unstoppable almost all the time. Wilkins was one of the best players in the league at defending against him at the time and Jordon acknowledge him as a great defensive player. He had a nice dunk at 46 seconds.
Nice miraculous shot by Trent Tucker. Dumb foul by Craig Hodges. Trent later won a ring with the Bulls. didn't Trent made that 3 at the buzzer vs the bulls with .1 secs which consequently started the .3 rule, stating that catch and shoot plays can only happen at .3+ sec.
@starks23 No not quite. Trent Tucker hit a three vs chicago in another game with one tenth of a second left. Afterwards the bulls complained and the NBA brought in a rule that said that there has to be three tenths of a second for a player to put up a shot in regulation which is in accordance with FIBA or something like that.
I wonder if at the heights of his majestic powers on the bball court, MJ woke up every morning, went to the bathroom, looked in the mirror and said 'fuck I'm awesome!" - Seriously, how good would it be, but how depressing would it be too lose such a godly talent with the passing of time.
Jordan's natural crossover is crazy! It's like you don't even see the ball go to his other hand when he does it. Nowadays you see player during the og crossover, but not as effective as jordan did it. This is what you call the NBA crossver and Iverson started the killer cross known as the street crossover. I say NBA crossover is more effective because it protects the ball more than killer cross.
the speed is just amazing. i remember counting him dribbling from one side to the other side(sometime literally from the baseline to the opposite basket) to finish a layup during his first 3peats..he usually took 4-6 sec to finish the whole action. it is definitely fast.
Yeah, if you pause it exactly when it hits 4:53 you can see that MJ is basically near the FT line. He then makes it to the opposite baseline just after it hits 4:56, for a total of about 3.2-3.4 seconds. While dribbling. The best times in the draft combine each year for 3/4 court sprint (FT line to baseline) are around 3.3 seconds...WITHOUT dribbling. Jordan had amazing speed.
That's a pretty correct estimation. Looked at that section with the software that shows thousands of a second. He's at the foul line at 4:53:560. At 4:56:987 he lands on the floor and his feet touches the baseline. So it's 3:427 seconds. Of course this includes dribbling, adjusting his steps for jumping, the actual jumping and landing. Amazing speed indeed.
That's why it makes me laugh when people today suggest that lots of guys have Jordan's speed. No, they don't. What program shows the thousandths of a second, btw? Because I have another clip vs. Boston that I'd like to time. Similar scenario -- from FT line to opposite baseline in what appears to be around 3 seconds while dribbling. 3.4 seconds while dribbling, measuring steps, and jumping, and the fastest times each year while RUNNING are 3.2-3.3 seconds. Sick.
i think dwyane wade has jordan's speed, i remember in the 04-05 playoffs wade caught the rebound and ran for a dunk with i think 4 seconds left and dunked with i think 1.4 seconds left. i cant remember off the top, but i think wade is faster than jordan. but i am NOT sayin wade is as good as jordan
Maybe, Wade was a track star in high school. It's possible that he's faster. Although I think they're about the same speed, but Jordan was definitely 'quicker'.
@jordanlover23 He was the fastest I had ever seen up until the first retirement in 1993. From 95-98, he was still one of the quickest in the league despite being older and 10-15 lbs heavier. It's possible that MJ from 84-93 was the fastest end-to-end player of all time. That combined with his footwork, body control and intelligence made him impossible to stop.
Nice upload. I have this game and a few others from this series on DVD. The thing I remember most from this series is that Jordan put on a ballhandling CLINIC on how to break traps and fullcourt presses. He was literally weaving around 3-4 Knicks several times each game with various moves and changes of direction. It was amazing to see -- he made them look like stooges lol.
Ppl dont realize Michael had to step up for his teammates a lot of times, even when they won the '91 title MJ did it with players that were still developing..Pippen and Grant had yet to reach their primes. This is a great game thx for the upload starks23 good to have u back!
apparently youtube had some trained monkeys fix it.
greeeat vid dude i consider myself a pretty big mj fan but never knew he played PG in '89 so props to you, you filled the only void of knowledge i had of him
oh, by the way, I don't know if it's a coincidence or what but it seems like Pippen always found a way to get himself thrown out of the last games in his early years. I mean didn't he left the game in the Pistons series after that Laimbeer elbow. Then I think he missed some important games because of the migraine stuff.
Great game footage Starks. I'm a subscriber to your channel and I love your fottage but again, the music kinda kills it. Great game footage and editing though!!!
I love the sequence of the blocked shot on the baseline; how hard he runs out on that one handed breakaway with the defender at the basket, and the assist to Paxon. A complete Jordan, close to perfection. Great articles too! A nervous Jordan about the freethrows and reaching this new point!

How can Gerald Wilkins ever anoint himself the "Jordan Stopper" when Mike torched him like that.

I think he was trying to play a mental game. Which brings me to my second point: it's a terrible idea to try to play mental games with Jordan.

Jordan ran a 4.3 second 40 in his sophomore year at UNC. Check the article: sportsillustrated DOT cnn DOT com/si_online/flashbacks/jordan/831128/
And he was definitely faster in '88 than he was in '83.
