You're the man of 1000 voices & some wonder why u don't a lot of anime roles.

And don't give me the union excuse crap. There are union members that are still regulars in anime voice acting (Steve Blum and Crispin Freeman), & there are unionized studios that specialize in anime voice acting (Bang Zoom! Entertainment).

And since Bandai Entertainment decided to stop releasing BD/DVD, the only way for u to get in anime voice acting, across from stuff like Bleach and Naruto is through Funimation.

@Dpaladinx The "Union Line" is actually true, regardless of what you would like to think. There are very few anime shows that are done through the unions and they still have to call you in to audition. While I may work a lot it doesn't mean I can just work on whatever I want. I have to audition like everyone else. And if they don't call you you don't work the show. Anime also pays very poorly for the extreme amount of work it is even when it is done through a union contract. : ) JAT

@JamesArnoldTaylor For the most part, I've been to anime conventions. Most of the voice actors would say that if anyone wishes to specialize in anime voice acting, your motivation should be in for the art (although you can't ignore money issues).

@Dpaladinx The only issue with that is that as long as people continue to work a bad contract it will never truly be respected the way it should be as the art it is. Sadly, Anime has a stigma in union circles as a low paying difficult and time consuming job. The money however is not the real issue it is more so that those jobs really don't present themselves to me in my day to day. Thanks for your support and want for me to be involved though. @JamesArnoldTaylor Yeah, I also heard SAG and AFTRA are planning to merge from a tweet by Kyle Hebert, they probably will install stricter policies on union members who try to work in anime voice acting (which happens to be non-union).

Oh yeah, Yuri Lowenthal also wrote this book, "Voice-Over Voice Actor: What It's Like Behind the Mic," you should recommend it to newer talents who were inspired by you.

@JamesArnoldTaylor Well, to be fair, MOST of anime dubbing nowadays is done in Texas, which is a "right-to-work" state, which bars union only shops. About 10-15 English dubs in anime are done in Texas yearly while I only hear about 1-4 are done in Los Angeles.
