  • Thanks Garry.

  • Wow, what a great artist; I will truly miss his beautiful music.

  • What a great version, god bless you Gary.

  • Those whom the gods show favour Die Young....

  • Hello Powerplay ! I like your opinion.

  • the person who disliked this , needs dropping in boiling fat ,, wot a twat ... tone deaf or what .?>?

  • he dies in blues... RIP

  • one year without him...i'm sure that he's in some place playin some blues with jimi, albert and stevie..Having the recognition that never had in this world...RIP gary

  • @gabilxc They were recognized by all those who count and I guess that's recognition enough..

  • had the pleasure of seeing the guy , once with thin lizzy and again on his last tour at wolverhampton , i can only say the guy was an absolute genius and in my opinion very very underated <3

  • The best ,in my head

  • Garry love you man good old days cool

  • This has to be one of the greatest performances of Gary's career;certainly the best live vocals that I have heard him sing !

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....love his music...♥ RIP..♥

  • '99 and in physical decline. As great as he was, he neglected his gift to himself and fans. Sadly too young, we shouldn't believe that he was a victim of addiction or some congenital defect, beyond his control. We have a legitimate hope that JB is on a better path and place in his great career. Of all of GM's gifts to us, this message should be among the greatest. Love and take care or ourselves, cherish, share and celebrate our gifts and the amazing potential of life itself. God bless us all.

  • @sixfive55 Not sure if JB is Justin Bieber or Joe Bonamassa ;-). I hope the latter!

  • Are you kidding me?......well no....just really listen to this master...he got All the blues running thru those veins......and many followed him......way to go GM

  • Es una de mis canciones de blues favoritas :D

  • No one does it like Peter Green, his version is the greatest. But Gary Moore has done the greatest cover of this song. Truely Amazing!

  • A beautiful version of this song; an homage to Peter Green, and rightly so. Let's also remember Little Willie John, who brought it to us.

  • Gary Moore has become one of my favorite blues guitarists. It's a pity that I only got the attention toward him after his death.

  • Love Gary He was a ledge xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Roy Buchanan, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore RIP

    You all are missed already

  • well, in the Czech Republic, we had a short tribute in main news :)

  • The guitar starting at 4:00 touches every nerve in my body...WOW!!!

  • The best version of this song ever. Gary is such a great talent...gone too soon.

  • so much talent in every field of guitar from shredding to melodic playing with full emotion. gary moore was really speaking his emotion threw music and that is incredible for a human being to do. to tie his soul and emotions into the physical world threw practice and discipline of perfecting his expression abilities.

  • @TheCandy1109: Wrong. It's by Little Willie John.

  • @jezmundberserker Wrong, it's by Little Willie Johns brother Mertis.

    Real Name: Mertis John Jr.

Profile: Writer and songwriter, born 22 May 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. His best known composition is probably Need Your Love So Bad, a hit for his brother Little Willie John in 1956, later covered by Fleetwood Mac and others.

Mertis is also the brother of singer Mable John.

  • @Bluesblaster: I was sure Little Willie John had written it. Just in case, I searched for it at cocatalog.loc.gov (copyrights catalog, gov't website). It says the copyright belongs to William John (Little Willie). I would trust this more than the discogs.com website. In any case, it was not a BB King tune.

  • @jezmundberserker OK, so the copyrights belong to William John, but that does not necessarily mean he also wrote it.... I guess we'll never know now. But who cares, it's a terrific song. Cheers.

  • @Bluesblaster: That is true indeed. I think it's also the case with "Rocket 88" from '51 which is supposed to be the first rock n roll song. I've seen it credited to Jackie Brenston but also to Ike Turner. Jackie was the singer in Ike's band. Maybe, in both cases, the song was co-written.

  • THE GOD OF THE BLUES GUITAR... i know for sure!!

  • deservedly respectful to peter greens version from gary moore, another fine player.another, sadly, little known player called stylish or styles watermelon does a knockout version of the song but you won,t find him,i don,t think,on you tube at all!i saw him play it at a club up in london coupla years ago.

  • He might have been able to play this a bit better if he hadn't of sold Greeny's guitar....

  • I'd like to know what happened to all these guys, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, the rolling stones ect, because these guys are TRUE TALENT, nowadays if it int got some sort of beat boxing shit in it it int 'cool' people dont give rock a chance anymore. People are so stereotypical nowadays, especially in the music world, sort it out people, cuz rock n roll is gonna hit you in the face one of these days.

  • ONE very very very dumb ass disliked this... WHY?

  • Comment removed

  • mantaab bro

  • I love how his true to the Peter Green version and make it his own song..See you in the other side..

  • It is really horrible. The old fart and his followers. And the guitar sucks. And I kid you all not.

  • Peter Green for main course – Gary Moore for desert!

  • Not only one of the greatest guitarists (such exquisite tone and feel, no and shredding nonsense), but Gary had a first class singing voice too.

  • @Powerplay4545 Gary is one of the most capable shredders in the group of guitarists I'd call "legit blues men." On this side of Bonamassa he is one of the most technically accomplished blues guitarists. Weird that you bring "shredding nonsense" as a positive aspect of his when he was perfectly capabale and even known for his flurries of fast fret board fireworks.

  • You were NOT one of the best guitarists Gary...... YOU WERE THE BEST. RIP

  • MR GARY MOORE has A huge WOW factor don't you know GREAT as it comes..

  • What can I write that hasn't been written before... Love this deep, moody, melancholy Irish man. I wanna a bio, movie, book something more. I can't get enough of Gary

  • if he was around in the 60s he would be more appreciated, yet 70s 80s man srv is lauded as one of the greats

  • God bless Gary

  • I think the more of my hearing I lose the more I appreciate his tone even more than Peter's lol

  • Amazing!

  • Rest in peace Gary ...

  • A very good attempt at getting close to Peter.

  • Excellent!! Thanks for the share:)

    Grandma mary

  • du grand gary moore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pure perfection...

  • Mr. Gary Moore is one gifted person, coming from a guy that love the blues all blues or as someone told me ,,, it electric blues glad i found out what it is that i truely love about music...

  • Delicatezza armonia bellezza!! Grande!

  • Wow- so viel Gefühl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Quel délice :-)

  • how can anyone dislike this ??.. you must have no musical taste whatsoever,,, one of the best guitarist's ever, of any type

  • superb

  • Hell Yeah!! Gary... you're missed man...

  • thanks god he lives on earth for a moment i was flying in space with my clossing eyes when i realise that this genius belong to earth thanks god for that. imaging if there is another life outthere i am sure they make him a offer that he can not refuse just to enjoy his superb music like all of us did. thanks uploader for your efforts and sharing well done.

  • This is so AMAZING! AWESOME music. RIP Gary Moore

  • its a willie john song but he`s playing peter greens magnificent rendition.......

  • this is better than fleetwood mac...

  • King of the blues,Gary Moore

  • Oh YES !!!

  • Grande, grande, grande!!!!!

Lo escucharia mil veces y no dejaria de impresionarme en cada nota...

    RIP maestro.

  • he is channeling Peter green!

  • Этот музыкант-лучшее,что можно услышать!Я его обожаю,как и блюзы!Жаль,что его уже нет.......Но он будет жить во всех,кто его любит!

  • God rest his soul. Followed Skid Row to the Blues days. Always delivered passion in his playing. Thanks for the vid!

  • Sorry to say, but the UK media are only interested in when the likes of Michael Jackson die. Or Take That, Westlife, X-facter no marks etc, etc. Gary was given a short tribute shown only in Ireland. True musical ability is not appreciated in the UK anymore. To think we gave the world the Beatles,Stones, Zep, Clapton, Beck, Purple etc,etc and and now Simon Cowels twats are more important !

  • @Bluesbreaker57 You got THAT right! Well said/written!

  • @Bluesbreaker57 This Canadian ex-musician LOVES this man... he was the best of a very few... so sad to hear he had passed. He's left a wonderful legacy and unfortunately very few people know even who he is, or the talent he shared with the world.... think his loss is great... You are right though about the press... I was a fan and didn't hear for months after he died.... R.I.P. GM... ♥

  • @Jamie63P How can one be ex-musician? You cry, you bleed, you are musician.

  • @Bluesbreaker57

That just goes to show how disconnected the UK media are from what is truly significant and important. There are many, many people who appreciate the true tragedy of Gary Moore's death. Beauty is expressed in many ways. The individuals on XFactor are all striving to be the best they can be. The media milks them for money but that doesn't diminish what each person is trying to do.

P.S. Gary Moore's playing on this track is perfection on six strings.

  • @Bluesbreaker57 THAT'S OK, I DON'T EVER REMEMBER HEARING ABOUT HIM DYING, I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA.......

  • @Bluesbreaker57 Valid point; I very much agree with your comments, albeit that I might not have used quite the same language to describe Simon Cowel. Notwithstanding, you are (in my opinion) spot-on with your observation.

  • Gary could rip it with the best, but here he's shows he could play with feel and soul. Still missing you mate !

  • @Bluesbreaker57 i totaly agree mate im not a massive fan i appreaciate the work he did with albert collins but this is full of soul reminds me of the guy out of the commitments on this peace.

  • Got to love this man.... play Garry play.... awsome...man!

  • wow, if that was the only thing you ever did in your life you,d be worthy of praise. some people still dont know he passed away, thats what little attention was given in england. shame, on the idiot fed media.

  • @ghike30 You are so right. I was shocked and saddened how little coverage his untimely death received.

  • cry guitar.... CRYYYYYY

  • I like it, - doesn't break my heart as much as Peter Green does, but I really wish I could do that!

It isn't the notes you put in that make it great, it's the ones you leave out! Beautifully sparse.

  • Excellent!!!

  • RIP Gary, you will be truly missed

  • <@)

  • No one can play like Gary

  • smooth as cream

  • Look how he works the vol knob on the guitar, he's always on it during the solo, building the tone and dynamics, making it slowly more intense... A lot of players nowadays forget some of the most varied tones come from your guitar's vol and tone knobs not from some overblown rack or pedal board!

Stunning, to the point of perfection.

  • @chooseyourblues Yes, specially the 335 is the tool to be lovely tuned up. Unlike a Strat the control knobs of the 335 can dramatically change your sound. E Clapp made a special vid about it (Cream period). And genious players like Chris Cain NEVER stop fiddling the controls.

  • @guyfrancis1

That is a Gibson ES-355 (made from 1958-1982). It has the varitone control,

split diamond headstock emblem and the large MOP blocks.

The ES-345 also had the varitone but had the "thistle" headstock emblem

and was discontinued after they came out with BB King's Lucille.

Gary you WERE the best and always will be for me. I love your duet

with BB on 'the thrill is gone"...nobody can hold a candle to you. RIP.

  • The best. Full of controlled passion. May go on for hours.

  • enough said

  • it doesn't get much better than this, Gary will live on with these great videos and inspire thousands of young guitarists!

  • Gary really "gets" this song. Many rock players with his level of skill can't seem to help over playing, but he doesn't let his playing get in the way of the song. He always put on a great live show too, I recall one amazing gig in the early 90s at the Royal Albert Hall where he'd played a complete set, then brought on a surprise guest for the encores - George Harrison! So sorry he's passed, RIP.

  • DIVINA LETRA

    !!

  • Love to you Gary...you are missed!

  • i just cant belive hes gone (gutted)

  • best slow solo ever..

  • Heaven needed Gary and words cannot express the sadness of such a loss... RIP

  • Excellent musician...So sad. :(

  • Divine!

  • Thank you Gary, rest in peace.

  • WOW!!!! gary's playing always meant so much to me.his passion is amazing, and that tone.R.I.P. GARY....THANK YOU,I WILL CHERISH YOUR MUSIC ALWAYS

  • thank you for the music

  • sublime

  • Farewell, Gary...

Though we never met, you taught me so much of how to properly combine blues and rock, technique with emotion and how to play fast and still have it mean something...

We won't see your like again...Rest In Peace...

    Dan.

  • @gtrDan1963 I couldn't agree more.. RIP Gary

  • Too soon but listen to what he left behind , that tone and voice, just sublime !

  • R.I.P Gary! Thank you for your amazing music.

  • RIP Gary, ALWAYS a legend

  • Gary died today (6 feb 2011) in Spain at 58, much too young. Thanks for your great your music Mr. Moore.

  • Died today (6 feb 2011), much too young. Thanks for great your music Mr. Moore.

  • R.I.P. Gary Moore a truly great player :-(

  • RIP... :(

  • gary's tone is out of this world........

  • This is my favorite Gary Moore Montreux Jazz Festival moment !

So much soul and passion in this performance...

The fact that he's playing my favorite guitar, a Gibson ES-355 doesn't hurt either...

    Dan.

  • this is just perfect can't say anything else...

  • BLUES, period.

  • Thank you!!!!

  • beautiful playing from the excellent gary moore.what i love about this is the lenghty solo at the end, which i wish peter green did with fleetwood mac...almost orgasmic!!!

  • Gary at his best! Still one of the best players around!

  • @binghamme i agree,way more passion than clapton...

  • @binghamme Used to be, huh? I listened to him constantly, and could not believe it when I saw he had passed. What a talent!

  • @binghamme this is the best version of this that I have heard, thanx for posting!

  • @binghamme This comment makes me very sad now, knowing he's gone. It's silly how we can feel about people we have never met, yet it seems they have a big impact on our lives.

Oh well. Time to pick up the guitar and play some blues I guess =).

  • I like it, actually seems to be doing fine by that time, nowadays people are complaining about him being egocentric and lacking the oomph he had before.
