never thought i'd say this but uncle sam surley knows how to ruin a car. i'm mean look at those fishy front lights. this car can still smoke wannabe race kiddies. I had one....sold it.....regretting it till today. I have an advice everyone, once u have one DON'T SELL IT!!
@kurbanica Totaly agree. I think there's no car in the world such a pioneer in most of the actual look of cars. Look that dashboard, it comes from the early 70s. Look the shift pattern, almost all automakers imitate this. Simply the best.
Hey tommysbrowncaddy, you're 21 year old and pretend to know everything about cars !!!! 75 % of the Mercedes w123 body built between 1976 and 1985 are still on the road ; where are the diesel cadillacs ? Scrap wards !
I worked on my grandfathers 6.9 and took it out for a drive on the highway. The brilliant thing about this car is that you will be doing 70mph and if you really get on it, it will get up to 120 in just a few seconds.
yah i have 1971 300SEL w6.3 as you said you touch the pedal and goes and also i race a old caddy sevil with 350 man i pull the guts out of that caddy you shoud see the fkn lifter poping out of the hood mercedes rocks.
Depends on what era. In the 1920's to 1950's they sure were fine cars. In many ways the top of the world.
By the late 60's and 70's it became clear Germany, and particularly Mercedes knew a thing about making advanced luxury cars that could be driven at 200km/h all day long with ease and last forever.
By the 80's and 90's Cadillac had lost the plot completely. Today they have regained new ground, but you'd be hard pressed to find anybody who would buy one over a Mercedes.
@shawntdecker i belive it was made like this for protection coz this car mainly was like a presedantly ppl so it could be for runaway in dangerous situations. just a guess : " )
I bought a 1977 American spec 6.9 the euro headlights and 5mph bumpers with 75K original miles. In 2002 I paid $12K. It's a fantastic ride, but the gas mileage hurts.
I am representing another one. It's an '80 U.S. model with less than 30,000 miles. ALL original including the Michelin tires. Dealer serviced and garage-kept. May be the most perfect 6.9 in the world. Seller is asking $40,000 USD.
Are you in CA? The reason I ask is, have you ever been to the Mercedes Benz Heritage Museum in Orange County? It's owned by M-B. They might be interested in such a pristine 6.9.
Funny you mention that. The owner sold one car to the museum. They turned around and sold it for a RIDICULOUS markup using their marketing connections. I think it jaded him a little. Said he won't sell them anything else.
Hmm. Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I may be interested in selling mine in the not too distant future, but it will be in NJ, not CA. Sounds like you broker deals, so if you'd like, I can keep you posted.
Beautiful, original - American - but aren't some of us trapped here? My 450SEL has the beauty, the bumpers - but I can't AFFORD to live anywhere, now that our cash is sinking to natural levels.
I'm no genius - but I can read. Spent my nest egg on fun in the last two years. Real value of currency dropped almost 30% on basics in that period.
Sigh: Your turn, SE Asia/China. We didn't leave much but you own it.
Bye now from the dying carcass of Euro/white culture -
Yes ,you are right those lights are so ugly ,also defenses .
All of this may have been the work of Bruno Sacco ( of some sad remembrance) who wanted to Americanize Mercedes Benz cars , and unfortunately he did succed partialy !
They needed to be sealed beam headlights to be legal, the world market H4/H3 headlights look strange when used. The fog is between the corner and beam... The W123, W126, W201, W124 all have the fog near the grill. It is hard to sell a set of euro W116 lights for more than $200.
the lights aren't as bad as the "45 mph-run into a brick wall" bumpers. euro cars are much nicer looking, but i'd still take a US-spec Mercedes over a caprice classic anyday!

"tommysbrowncaddy" you have been spamming EVERY single Benz video on YouTube. from the W115/W116/W126/W140...
Dude, let it go, nobodys going to click on your username to check out your "ride" becuase they came here to look at classic benz, not caddys.
Thank you.
