I think this was an intentional joke, but I had seen the BSOD several times because of drivers that could not run on minimal system requirements or were too high ends for Windows 98. It was still a good platform, and I held on to it for ten years. At that point, I had to invest in XP because 98 was sooooooo obsolete.

My brother was in collage at the time.

As soon as I saw that software crash in front of Millions of viewers around the world, I said to myself "My God we're so screwed." And we are. We not only as a consumer but also as a Nation, are at the mercy of Bill Gates.

That event could have been our Y2K.
