  • Anyone know what guitar he's playing?

  • YOU ROCK, MAN

  • The notes sound VERY short. Are you using a compressor? It sounds amazing!

  • @TheManga322 Yup, Boss CS-3 Compression/Sustainer pedal

  • very well done. 5 stars

  • God. When I play the first riff I don't bend the strings when you're playing the 11/12 Fret. I do a quick back and forth slide haha like what is done in Echo.

  • what pedal are u using at 0:59

  • Dude your my hero!. lol Good Shit though bro i was wondering how he did some of the spacey kind of sounds

  • God help me, I love this song! And you certainly do it just, my friend.

  • Hi, I'm french, so sorry for my beautiful English.

I'm hesitating between two phaser which i'm about to buy, and I really like Mike's sound, and you copy it well, so the questions are : Are the two phaser : MXR and Super Phaser indispensable both for doing Incubus covers, or just one is enough? (this is just for simple covers). Then, which both could be the most useful so ?I noticed the super phaser is the most used, but the MXR sounds so natural.

Well Done for your videos, really greats covers!

  • @Neopetitbn The Boss PH-2 is definitely used more when playing Incubus songs, but I like the sound of the MXR Phase 90 better and use that one more when I play my own songs. I do, however, like having both phasers because they each provide a very unique sound. It just depends on what you want to do as far as writing your own music.

  • @IncubusCoverProject Okay, thanks for your answer :). I'm changing my little pedalboard, and even if i like the Chorus, i find it cools too much the sound, so, as i like Incubus, i thought to the Phaser :). I'm gonna buy one both, and i'll see if i need one more :).

  • @Neopetitbn pardon your french lol

  • @WildBillHickums thanks to reverso too =P

  • @musix1111 Yeah I've tried it that way before and I don't know if it's just my setup or what but the verse sounds muddy with any kind of modulation effect on it.

  • do you use the octave pedal in the chorus?

  • @dinkymau Yep, just for the single notes

  • My dad's guitarist has the same guitar as you one's purple and the other one's red the sound great

  • thank you! ive been looking for a cover and sounds excatly like the track

  • are you guys doing this project for something or just because you love incubus?

  • Nice

  • ei mate! what kind of distortion you used to really sound like incubus? tnx! need your response or anybody there who's got an idea. cheers!

  • do they still sell ibanez's like that cuz i can't find them online or at stores

  • Nah, they've been discontinued unfortunately, they're great guitars.

  • i like the use of 2 phasers like mike and interesting use of the octiver. you need more reverb but otherwise very good.

  • Tell us about your amp. I've been pretty successful getting my Mesa Express 5:25 close in tone on mid-gain.

  • wow this sounds exactly like the real song !! Great Job

  • Exellent cover man, love the bends

  • awesome job, man. i've been watching ur vids tryna pick up a few things. in my version of stellar im bending two strings at a time, ur version seems more convenient. o n do u have any excerises that i can do that will make me more accurate transisting from chord to chord?

  • In the vid, I'm bending the G and D strings at the same time, so you've been doing it right I'm guessing. And if you want to get more accurate at changing chords, I would recommend just playing songs that you love that have a lot of chord changes.

  • do a cover for echo!

    love the lefty playing!

  • Very good....

  • it's no wonder mike has a very stationary stage presence, he's always changing distortions. But i'd take badass guitar play over theatrics anyday

  • Nice Cover.

I'm a drummer and you should see me play this song.

I only use two fingers the whole time yet I can play it almost flawlessly. I never learned to use my ring finger so I play like weirdo.

  • This is the best stellar cover I've seen/heard on youtube.

I know this is a noob question (only been playing for 2 months), but for each verse, are you playing clean or do you use any effect?

  • Nope, no effects at all in the verses.

  • I can hear some Compression when you play clean...what amp do you use?

  • Oh okay thanks.

I was just wondering because it has some sort of sound behind it that I can't get on my guitar.

  • got to love that left-handed playing. :0

  • Hey man, awesome cover. What are you using for dirt on this?

  • It's used in the actual song, we've gotta do it even if it doesn't sound perfect through the rig.

  • Totally awesome. The only covers that I always rewatch with the same pleasure :)

    You're the best!

    <3

  • Very cool. Question: Would you consider Incubus' guitar more difficult, or equally difficult to that of the average band?

  • They're harder to figure out, but I suppose they're easier to play than the average band's songs....depends which song you're talking about I guess.

  • Cool, thanks

  • depends there are songs like summer romance which are a little harder than their other songs

  • Nice cover, big fan of your actually. In which part of the song is the MXR Phase 90 evident?

  • I used it for the bridge in this recording, which is what Mike does live, but it's not in the album version.

  • Great...cause I don't currently have that pedal. Btw, was able to emulate your Nice To know You cover...nice work as always.

  • lefty besty : D

  • Righty, Mighty

  • I'm afraid I must agree with peaceofvideo :)

  • Dude, i just wanted to say you are fucking awesome! i'm in love with your skills. never let the music die! Incubus 4 life!!

    rocknonstop

  • man thats awesome. its amazing how much of a difference having all the proper pedals and effects that Mike uses. Not the same when im just playing it straight through an amp.. I notice you havent done an acoustic version of pardon me. Any chance of that? :) Keep it up

  • What amp do you have?

  • It's really cool to see how the entire song looks like when played on guitar, because you can't really see how exactly Mike plays the songs live because obviously the camera's not on him the whole time.

  • u should try some a skylit drive!

  • FUCK NO!

  • I synched this vid with the music vid and it fit perfectly :D

    I am amazed 0.0

  • are you going to do covers of then new album when it comes out? cuz that would rock

  • We're definitely gonna try to...depends on how ridiculous the songs are I guess :)

  • Yay!!!! I'm so excited -waits in anticipation- lol

  • gooooooooood

  • i like the very beginning of the guitar

  • i like. . . congrats. XDDD

    u play very well

  • Oh and I never said the only effect in the cd version was chorus. Good try though.

And yes, I do "play music right." Learn how to type next time :)

Furthermore, you have zero videos on youtube, so stop talking pal.

Also thank you Galisao for mentioning chorus and flanger are alike. The group that made the tab book likely confused the two and wrote the wrong one.

Bernard, stop trying to pick a fight with someone who is obviously more mature than you.

  • Hahaha. Okay, bernard "bitch". First I would like to ask how you'd be able to physically jack off in the first place. Second, you talk like you are 8 years old and just learned new curse words. Since when were youtube comments to be fights between users? My original statement, "if anyone wants to try to prove me wrong, good luck :D" was not meant to piss off anyone (unless you suck at reading, of course). The fact that you haven't proved anything by flaming me is hilarious. I hate your kind. XD

  • Who's stupid? I have the book as well. However the guy in this video is not going by the book; rather, he is going by ear and sight from the Morning View Sessions DVD...

But that's nice if something made your day just now.

  • very sweet :D

  • Great stuff. can you use an electric-acoustic guitar with the same results and if yes, wut brand do you suggest?

  • can be cool if you put in you video like a second view of the camera when you use your pedals

    cool cool

    i like miky's gear....

  • that was really cool

  • you should learn all of the songs from fungus amongus. I've never seen anyone cover songs from the album. its the best their best one in my opinion.

  • This is a good cover; however one thing I just want to point out is that there is no phaser during the bridge (at about 2:28 in the song). The only effect there in the album version is chorus. I do have the Make Yourself book for guitar, so if anyone wants to try to prove me wrong, good luck :D

But if you are covering the live recording I can understand that Mike does use a phaser the second time >_>

  • The studio effect is actually a flanger (the books are nice, but I'm afraid they don't have a good grasp on the effects that Mike used at the time). I sort of modeled this recording after Mike's "Morning View Sessions" performance of this song, hence the phaser.

  • Flanger and chorus are very alike.

Bur a i agree that he uses flanger instead.

  • Pretty fun song to play, and you look cool whilst doing it lol. Its not really awesome tricky.

  • Great job man. One of my favorite Incubus songs lol.

  • haha those bends man, pretty good, but so tough, mike einziger comes up with the most awesome tricky riffs

  • sweet

  • ehh

  • They played this song on some talk show a long time ago, you can find the video here on youtube. You can clearly see him turning a pedal on and off at that exact moment...a brown pedal...

  • nice cover guys, but we need a little of enjoy and fungus in here

  • IS there a signficant difference between the PH 2 and the PH-3?

  • The PH-2 has a 10 stage phaser and a 12 stage phaser, whereas the PH-3 has a 4, 8, 10, 12 stage phaser, plus a rise, fall, and step mode. Despite its greater selection of modes, however, the PH-3's sound is, for lack of a better word, silly in comparison with the PH-2.

  • im not really good with effect pedals, but which 1 is used at 00:58-1:00?

  • Boss PH-2

  • ty :)

  • that is absolutely amazing

  • very nice replication, almost the real thing itself! *faved and subscribed* ;D

  • any tabs or ear?

  • Ears and eyes actually, just watch some live performances of it and you'll get it.
