Oh come on why are ppl bringing up Young Justice here. Alright I'll admit it's good (better than Teen Titans) but they keep delaying the episodes & although the Avengers doesn't follow the comics for the most part @ least it ties into the movie franchise. YJ is in it's own little world, Robin should have been Tim, if they wanted to stick to the originals then they shouldn't have brought Super Boy up in the first place. This is the best MARVEL animation since 90's X-men & spider-man

@fridaythe13thmad In the orginal Avengers comic Iron Man brought the team togther. A few issue later they found Captain America. Even then he wasn't made the leader cause he was a man out of his time. Eventually the leadership would switch between memebers depending on the writers. Ultimately Iron Man, Cap and even Thor are seen as the real leaders of the Avengers.

In Avengers comic books, Steve never was the leader during the first years of the team. He had to adapt to his new present before assume any role like that, so why he should be the leader if this is the same situation? That would make no sense.

I just had a thought. Ppl often say superhero stories r modern myths. Look at Superman, is there really a DEFINITIVE version of him, no there r multiple takes on the same basic story like most myths, where details change. Equally the Avs/JLA concept dates back 2 ancient Grreece also, 2 Jason and the Argonaughts, a story in which multiple heroes, Hercules, Theseus and Jason form 'team-up' 2 form a crew/team. hence the appeal of seeing/hearing stories with prev est heroes all together

@GoggleheadEXE The reason he isn't the leader yet is because he's just adjusting to not being frozen in a block of ice for 70 years anymore, they're not gonna just say "Grate to have ya back Cap now lead our team plz". They've been showing hints of Cap defying Iron Man's orders and nobody is really happy with how he's leading the team, so Cap will definitely lead eventually.

Beacause in fact Steve Rogers is a good soldier, Tony STark is more percieved as a leader. He's rich, he's having the Avengers Tower and he's a Multinational Enterprise Director, Captai namérica is agood soldier, very representative, but Iron Man is better to be seen as a leader with his background.

Iron Man's the leader in this incarnation, because, well, 2 successful major motion pictures earns you some serious juice.
