Looks good I'm going to have to try it, mine is light inflatable. While I drive with this--in my trunk--the space can be used for storage, so it is not wasted space.
Thanks Norm. I like the simplicity of this wheel. And I like the basket, acting as a stop, preventing the kayak from sliding when mounting the kayak on top of a car roof. Or, does it? And the curve the basket provides; it nicely cradles the bottom hull. It would be more beneficial to your viewers if you demonstrate the wheel with a kayak on top. And maybe the mounting of the kayak on a car roof with the wheels on. Do you use a smaller PVC inside the 1" PVC? Or, a steel rod?

My kayak weighs 40 lbs and it works fine. You must have a really heavy kayak.

Do you take the wheels off and use the basket on the back of your kayak?
You could use cotter pins to keep the wheels on and can be easy removed...
