We shipped inside a calzone softcase inside a box, It arrived with a dent on the bottom! damnit! If I did it again, I'd try to construct some end pieces out of many layers of folded cardboard and tape and bubblewrap it, and use packing peanuts or those air pockets... getting rid of a dent would be more difficult! Thanks for the comment!
@b3nsf I recently bought a J6 and how you explained is pretty much how they packed it. Layers of bubblewrap and packing peanuts, its still a heavy item to ship so everything needs to fit very snug and allow little movement.
Yeah I also find it sad that Roland just do shit these days. I wonder if they don't want to make money because I am pretty sure that a new lineup of drummachines, bassline like 303, and the jupiters and junos they would sell like icecream on a hot summer day. Why keep giving people shit that we don't really want, most machines the last 10 years have been a big moan from me like "oh my god another VA, digital shit" Bring me what I want, bring me analog stuff, I am happy DSI, jomox and moog do it
Thanks for making this video because I didn't know mine had a battery..............I'm pretty sure it's the original battery too. Time to look that one up before it becomes a mess!
@greg0716 Seriously, the thing has no velocity or aftertouch option. I guess THIS is how people end up breaking off keys, always wondered about that. Great sounds though, gritty almost digital-sounding analog. Might have to pick one up in the near future.
After lusting over this and the Jupiter 8 for a few yrs I feel that there are better synths available for less money nowadays and if I bought one I would probably be dissapointed with it given the price. I am happy enough with a JX8p, DW8000 and Juno 6 for now which I suspect can do 85% of the sounds and software plugs that can do the rest.
@KOTARE33 Maybe thats the case but the sounds I like are all on the Juno. There is no denying that softsynths are excellent. After picking up a plugiator I have no further desire for analog whatsoever.
Just bought a JP-6. I love it but am a bit confused by how it's routed. Two envelopes that I'm not sure which does what. I can't figure out how to just use one oscillator and set it up... and then add a second oscillator and set it up independently.. I'm confused so far but I'm picking it up. Any suggestions on how to start simple and add more would be appreciated.
I can tell he can play the shit out of it if he wants to, but it's obvious they are just messing around more or less. The way he plays it doesn't bother me like most people, it seems OTHERS do not understand how to push a machine even if they are classic vintage boards. Regardless, good sounds and remember to have fun with your gear. It was meant to be PLAYED not fawned over.
No need for the 'morons' comment at all, some good kybrd playing and sounds in this video though mostly presets, I love my JU6 to bits. However, this is not demonstrating the Europa mod at all? How about demonstrating the upgrades?
@flitemedia : Does the europa mod need to be plugged into a computer to make it work? Is it just midi-upgrades or can you have some benifits with just the keyboard and some headphones?
What is Roland's excuse for not having anything that can touch the creativity and depth of sound of any of these old synths in their modern lineup? I think Roland lost it yrs ago, nowadays they offer generic jack of all trade workstations that are as dull as ditchwater. And while I'm at it they drastically need to update their V-Drum lineup and incorporate far higher quality sounds that actually sound realistic like the Toontrack software. All done!
One thing I love about this synth is how unpredictable it gets if you start twiddling aimlessly. I remember sitting down once and just turning knobs, and when I hit the keys, I had that big "THX" sweep from movie intros just perfect! Weird!
keys noisier than my SY85...lol....record off the audio out maybe?.....lovely tunes though nice demo....love the JP6 big time.

I bought my Jupiter 6 in June for $1,650 with (no europa upgrade)
They usually sell $1,500-$2,500 But every blue moon someone will sell one for
around $500 not knowing current market values. These synths are extraordinary!
Sjobeck7 1 year ago
This Jupiter sounds AMAZING! It makes me want sale all my old synths and get it. It sounds much better than my Radias! How much do they cost today?

@freezazoid first env controls filter second one controls amplitude, use the vco balance knob to hear them individually... enjoy the synth!

@b3nsf : sweet. Thanks man. So I can't adjust the amplitude of each vco separately?

It's no wonder these are still going for $1,799! What a crazy synth! And Roland thinks the SH201 replaces this! Con-artists!

they were going for a lot less than a grand just a few years ago. analog prices have almost doubled in the last few years

it's not that long ago that you could get a jp 8 for under a grand.....when I payed £250, for my 106, I could have had an 8 for £850 :(

at 5:33 you can hear the same key sounds as used in a Daft Punk track, they might have used this to produce it.
