other than flat pistons, stronger forged rods, a wet sup oil system, 4 valves per cylinder and a big whipple charger, yeah its pretty much an all aluminum version of the 99-04 V8 engine, just like the old ford 221, 289, 302 and the 351 were "Basically" the same engine. Or the 366, 427 and the 572 chevy, or even the 239 magnum, the 360 magnum and the massive 488 8.0L Viper motors are "basically the same". Well I guess being based off the same block isn't all that bad is it...?
