What is the benefit of pressing hair instead relaxing? Isn't hair pressing just as damaging as a relaxer?

@Laceycurls You have my encouragement! My only tip is 1) as little heat as possible (1-2 times a year is my standard) 2) and always mosturize the ends of your hair -- I use a water based moisturizer in my hair. I should do a tutorial about this...

I've been doing the ghe since Aug 24, 2011- Present. Everyday!! I oil my scalp w/ either castor oil or olive oil. Plus I add moisture to my hair(basically, in a 4oz bottle I mix water, oil of choice and megatek & I spray it onto my hair.) Next, I twist my hair in a protective style. I put on my plastic hair bags (sometimes TWO plastic bags). After, I tie my hair. AND I SAW NO RESULTS CONCERNING GROWTH!! :( Bummer! :( However, I notice my hair doesnt break as much!b :) But that's it.

@befitinthirtydays That's because in order to "GHE" you can't put anything on your scalp. The purpose is to let your natural oils/sebum come out of your scalp which can't be done if you're oiling your scalp. You are supposed to apply the oil to your hair ONLY. the method you are using is more so the "baggy" method not "GHE"

I'm newly natural(4 months) and i keep my hair in 2 strand twist only...no heat of course and i'm looking for a healthy way to quickly gain and maintain my length and it looks like you know what your doing lol. ***BEAUTIFUL*** sn: not trying to be rude. your bra back band is riding up your back. that indicates that it is too big around. going smaller in the band and bigger the cup will help you to have proper fitting undergarment. european lingerie is the best option. boutiques and highend dept. stores carry them.

My stylist was Prinsetta :) Make sure you ask about how they wash and detangle natural hair. I had washed and detangled mine 1 day before going just to be safe. They still charged me full price though. I will post a video about my overall experience, which was very good compared to the first hair salon I tried last August 2010.
