Check my math - please tell your friends and children the truth !
Also lets suppose we had a growth rate of say only .....6.5% - well in 10 years this equation will double in size. We probably only 20 left - (sorry).
bigdeezer123 - you say "they" have just found a big oil field. Well who is "they" and how big is it. My facts - from Minister of Energy Canada - the total recoverable reserves globally is about 1332,000,000,000 barrels ( 1.33 trillion ). Consumption globally is about 85220,000 b/d - again surf google and you will find the truth. Do the math and see what your answer is. There have been very few substantial finds since the 80's. The new ones are the very expensive ones aswell.
The lie is we are not civilized at all. All the way through the ages, "groups" have murdered, decieved and exploited. We are mislead into being passive by greedy governments and power seeking "groups". Man is just a "clever" ape .......maybe not so clever - 40 years of oil left .... do the math !
40yrs of oil left? They just discovered the biggest oil find in history. There is enough oil in this country to keep us going for at LEAST 100 yrs. We havent even tapped the REAl offshore pockets. So where do you get these lies from? Alot of ppl think that i would b great to live without oil, but as soon as it's gone they would be the first ones screaming when they couldnt fill up their cars. When the stores run out of food , when the lights go off. When their cabinets run out of food. YEAH!
I am tired of all the lies and deceptions. Truth is all we have now and most of us don't even know what that is. Why must evil control and destroy everything? Is there a happy ending to all of this madness?
Salvation can only be achieved through compassion, understanding, respect, love and protection for all living organisms. Learn these things and begin to evolve.
Fundamentalism is quickly destroying the human race. And the Christian fundamentalists who spread hatred, racism, sexism, homophobia and intolerance will be the downfall of the American Empire. Humans may well be the one organism that has the shortest life on this planet. We act like an aggressive cancer, using up every possible resource without concern for our children's, children's children.
Yeah....I haven't really seen that we've really turned any corners. It seems like we just get more efficient at killing each other. There are pockets of good folks but our sanctuary is very tenuous.
great great job but at the end after the car explosion you should add a couple more seconds of darkness to add a dramatic lasting quality, it will make more of an impact that way. really, wonderful work!

Excellent video, Sadie. Civilization is relative to each person's interpretation of it. The earth would be better off without our piss poor attempts at civilization.
To quote Agent Smith from "The Matrix": Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.
Yeah if you think about it you'll might get a bit pessimistic haha... Happily not all human beings are "a disease, a cancer of this planet" so I guess the point of no return hasn't been passed yet. ;) Just let's hope that we don't have to wait for the day of doom to make ppl start looking over the rim of a tea cup (I need an idiom dictionary... :D).
Enough of thinking about our earth - I go eat some ice cream. :P
LOL well maybe we're like bacteria- some good and necessary, some bad. You're right- enuffa that. I'll pass on the ice cream, though. Got any popsicles?
This piece suspends its shame with a heavy air. A reminder to all and every one of us. The human instinct brings joy but also brings terror in its persuit of self. As the old cliche goes, i feel sad that many follow the mantra of what is given with one hand, is taken away with the other. Thank you for sharing this shock of reality. Today i will try even harder to attempt to make someone smile.
Those who stain society by choosing anger, violence and rage as a way of life really concern me, but then so do those who choose to skip through life picking daisies, wearing rose-colored glasses as they think everybody and everything is really super wonderful.
I guess the thing is, we can't deny our roots. We are violent beings, as are all carnivores and omnivores. Though at least in a society with laws, you are safer from the loss of life and limb.. in tribal societies, say 12,000 BC, might makes right in ALL cases, 100 percent of the time. Things are a little better.. not heavenly, but still better to a degree. Otherwise we woudn't be overpopulated like we are.
Very good points! I especially like the use of overpopulation to support our betterness. And I agree. Thanks so much for pitching in your thoughts here.
You're more than welcome :) Its just... when I see an old couple holding hands on a park bench... or people fighting for the rights of those in a faraway land that they don't even know... the way people will sacrifice their lives for freedom, or hope, or love... our art and literature.. that gives me hope and reminds me that humanity is going somewhere great- we just have a long journey ahead of us.
Oh absolutely! I see more beauty in this world than anything else. This 'uncivilized' truth is a facet of us as a whole, I think. Human beings are still my favorite animal :)
Jesus gave us just two rules that every Biblical law was based on. Love God with all your heart and mind and strength and love your neighbor as you love yourself. If we could learn to live by just those two things, none of this would ever be an issue.
Can I resist?, "resistance is futile" Okay away I go, on the preach's latter rule, this is just the basic Golden Rule that existed way before this jesus so cannot be accredited to him,and on his former rule thats why civilisation is as fucked up as it is, I of course refer to all the gods of the abrahamic faiths, way to go preach.
I am now contrite,I apologise profusely,Im sorry, really sorry may god strike me down dead if I aint innit
And another thing. I've clashed with the contrite Blackfingernail before. And I like him, I truly do. But please tell him that the AP Stylebook clearly states that God and Jesus should be capitalized, even for the atheists. And please tell him to quit smashing his finger with a hammer or slamming it in the car door, or picking his nose - whatever is causing that.
LOL no way am I going to start grading ANYbody on their spelling around here. It would be a bloodfest, I tell you- and I wouldn't necessarily escape the red pen myself!
From my perspective, as well as that of some of the greatest Zen Masters... and Sun Tzu as well... Only by acknowledging the truth, [that we are brutal animals and we actually LIKE it], can we eventually elevate ourselves ABOVE it. Our dark side has a place - we cannot be separated from it - we just have to learn how and when to use it and channel it to productive means.
to paraphrase something i read recently "we don't just use 10% of our brain, its just the 90% we don't think we use is in fact filtering out all the wonder and horror that is this so called civilization"
Slightly embarrassing that it wasn't a great dissertation on the human condition .. it was in one of the "DiscWord" novels by Terry Pratchett (fantasy/sci-fi/humor)
Awesome! I love it when Mort has to take over for Death. Dunno which book that is- they're all a wonderful clever articulate hilarious blur to me, aside from some choice characters and story lines. I consumed them waaaay too fast.
Well, this is a video that makes one think, that's for sure.
My take: civilization is at best a veneer over the old, cruel, self-serving apes we still are. Civilization *tends* to impose consequences for overtly nasty behaviors, and thus attempts to deter or limit them. But by no stretch of the imagination have we conquered our baser natures.
I only hope civilization, deficient as it is, will last long enough to offer our descendants a chance to become something better.
I'm an Ape?!!! OMG! WTF!... I can't be! I have opposable thumbs and I only need to shave once per day and... I'm slightly allergic to bananas and tall trees. I also know how to use a toilet. I've never thrown poop at anyone! B-)
You SURE you've never thrown poop at anyone? I'd check that with your Mom before making such a claim... toddler apes do strange things sometimes... hehee
I know people who have taught cats to use a toilet. Come to think of it, one was popular on YouTube a while back...
But the comparison is unfair. Cats are better planetary citizens than we are. They can be mean, but they never start wars, they seldom hold grudges, and if they throw their poop, at least they don't aim it. :P
A somber view at humanity, in action. I know humanity is better than those images flying across the computer screen. Consider the context of the place and time of those events before buying into the doom and gloom of society. Indeed, Sadie, there are few safe havens left.
I do not subscribe to 'doom and gloom', thank ye. Don't mistake my realism for pessimism. We are better than those images, and we are the sum of that and those images.

Our dark side has a place - we cannot be separated from it - we just have to learn how and when to use it and channel it to productive means.
Great vid Sadie!

to paraphrase something i read recently "we don't just use 10% of our brain, its just the 90% we don't think we use is in fact filtering out all the wonder and horror that is this so called civilization"
VelvetElvis01 4 years ago
Oh that is a very cool quote!
SadieDammit 4 years ago
yeah i like it, when i read it i thought of toasters & pipe bombs .. wonder and horror
VelvetElvis01 4 years ago
Hmmmmm! I like the way you think. What were you reading, btw?
SadieDammit 4 years ago
Slightly embarrassing that it wasn't a great dissertation on the human condition .. it was in one of the "DiscWord" novels by Terry Pratchett (fantasy/sci-fi/humor)
VelvetElvis01 4 years ago
I should have known! I LOVE TERRY PRATCHETT! Love him love him!
SadieDammit 4 years ago
i am rereading the entire series, my bedside table has 7 of his books on it ;)
VelvetElvis01 4 years ago
Awesome! I love it when Mort has to take over for Death. Dunno which book that is- they're all a wonderful clever articulate hilarious blur to me, aside from some choice characters and story lines. I consumed them waaaay too fast.
SadieDammit 4 years ago
lol, surprisingly that ones called "Mort" .. my favs are "the watch" series with Sam Vimes

Urgelt 4 years ago
Extremely well put and I echo everything you said! Bravo!
SadieDammit 4 years ago
I'm an Ape?!!! OMG! WTF!... I can't be! I have opposable thumbs and I only need to shave once per day and... I'm slightly allergic to bananas and tall trees. I also know how to use a toilet. I've never thrown poop at anyone! B-)
ovationceleb 4 years ago
You SURE you've never thrown poop at anyone? I'd check that with your Mom before making such a claim... toddler apes do strange things sometimes... hehee
SadieDammit 4 years ago
I know people who have taught cats to use a toilet. Come to think of it, one was popular on YouTube a while back...
But the comparison is unfair. Cats are better planetary citizens than we are. They can be mean, but they never start wars, they seldom hold grudges, and if they throw their poop, at least they don't aim it. :P

Omg the ending scared the shit out of me lol!

A somber view at humanity, in action. I know humanity is better than those images flying across the computer screen. Consider the context of the place and time of those events before buying into the doom and gloom of society. Indeed, Sadie, there are few safe havens left.
commentate 4 years ago
I do not subscribe to 'doom and gloom', thank ye. Don't mistake my realism for pessimism. We are better than those images, and we are the sum of that and those images.

You're all invited to my house. It's safe... I don't watch TV.
Great vid Sadie... Dammit.
