@didowexbox would actually be good, rather than the 1up box which gives you a life, you can have a backwards box which appears just before loosing your life and resets it 5 seconds before dying, of course though if it's something like mystic caves act 2's spike pit then chances are you won't make it. which makes it good cuz you've still gotta watch out for the real bad traps. so being totally reckless is out of the question still.

look up the "R4 Revolution for DS". It's a DS cartridge with a micro sd flash slot on it. I got mine at a local computer store. I can load any DS or GBA game onto the 2gb flash. I can play music and videos. And there is plenty of homebrew ports(like quake 2) and emulators.
