I'm a foreigner and my english is not completely, err, fluent. But I think that You should, err, hire someone like the guys that do the videos, err, at learnitfirstDotCom, err, if you want to make your ideas come through, err, err, Really.
The way you deliver things really matters, and is not easy for me.
But I'm interested anyway and I may give it a try, but for now I'm tired. Thanks
Thank you. I have an idea for an app I'd like to make but have no programming experience. Would you be able to point me in the right direction to get started learning and working on it?
In addition, having no programming experience might be an issue, as I noticed that the Palm Developer Web site and tutorials assume previous programming experience. Go to W3schools[dot]com and go to the JavaScript tutorial to start learning JavaScript since WebOS works with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Essentially what "Mojo" is, is a javascript library that allows you to interface with the Pre. If you don't know what that means, you are going to have to learn a few things before you start learning how to specifically programme on the pre. For example, HTML5, CSS and Javascript. If you have a good understanding of these, then you'll be able to start coding for the Pre.
People, when the iPhone first came out, it didn't have many apps, remember (years ago. not the new 3rd generation version). So, why the complaints about not many apps available for Palm Pre. Its only been out for about a month now.
Plus, no OS5 apps will work 100% with the Palm Pre's WebOS. Its just like when Mac switched from the motorola processor to Intel based processors, they also had to redo their OS and new software had to be created to run on it (old software is no longer compatible)

ok. Sorry about my grammar. Is the Palm Pre coming out with new applications? Becasue their lack of apps. is bothering me. Their best app. is probably the sprint navi. which all other phones have. In addition, they only have 2 horrible games and one demo.
It's refreshing to listen to a presenter (Mitch & Paul) that knows what he's talking about. Also, thanks for actually creating an actual application in real-time. Even if it was small. To me an app is an app.

This SKD looks like a combination of HyperCard and AJAX. It's very similar to Apple's "Web Apps" . . . you know their first iPhone applications development platform they were so rightly savaged for?
I wish them the best, I really do, the smart phone industry needs competition to push forward. But I don't think the Pre is going to do it.
Personally, I think that they should never have sought to rely on the Cloud for anything but syncing--never for storage. It really pissed me off to hear that they were when i first heard about it.

Agreed! Is there any excuse for this? I meen it's not like its 1999 anymore... And thats another reason i use iPhone from Apple. Atleast they deliver stuff like this in HD Video. Looking forward to the pre though. Competition is always nice. If its competition... We'll see hehe
I got the reply about the audio quality via mail. I like to clarify what i meant. I hear what you are saying about call in's. I wasnt really dissing anything about the webcast. I love to watch stuff like this. But that audio source material was pretty bad. If Palm where serious about promoting the Pre, maby they should fly a few people to a single location and THEN do the presentation like Apple does. Maby they should put some effort into these presentations.. Thats what i was trying to say : )

Palm has publicly released their SDK so developers, like me, will start to make apps for it now. I am trying to make a game now.

apple had no HTML5 "application cache" in the first version of their iphone os. so no way to run a app without a network connection.
sifu1979 2 years ago 2
plus, I these apps are stored on the device locally, whereas (and I could be wrong on this) they weren't local on the iPhone
JayCanuck 2 years ago
I believe that's the idea here, too.
#%$&, I thought this was Palm's idea...

@sifu1979
Native apps don't need application cache , they aren't written in html.
