I was three when this show came on CBS and my grandfather-a former military man-watched almost every episode ever made over the years. I watched the last episode and remembered it was like a funeral on television, very sad. On the norm and esp. in the early years it was quick and edgy comedy that delivered every time...wish more shows these days had that kind of writing. I still can't watch an episode of M*A*S*H without thinking of my grandfather in some way. FLAG was his favorite--mine too.
@Berrybunney1 Same here, my mom watched it all the time so I've grown up with it. I used to stay up and sneak out of my room to watch it with her. It remains my favorite TV show ever. And I'm only 15! lol
I'll love you forever, Hawkeye, BJ, Trapper, Col. Potter, Radar, Klinger, Hot lips, all of 'em! =D
I was not even a thought when this show was filming, but I can tell you who played whom, and give you a summary about every episode. I'll forever remember Frank's gold madness, Trapp's ulcer, Pierce's tent peeking, Radar's teddy bear, Margaret's voice, Klinger's nose, Henry getting his hand caught on his hat, Potter getting his horse, Charles' musicians, BJ's book from home...these are the things that define good television.
im at the begining of the 7th series and im totaly speechless, truly the best series ever to be made. Oh and when even Col. Potter could not rezist the tears, why should I.
Ibwas born in 78. My father raised me as a single dad and I remember him laughing every time this show was on. It was his favorite. He died last summer. And I want to continue watching this show as a rememberance of his favorite
I am 18 (I was born in 1992), and this is my favorite show because of its all-star cast, themes, because it can be funny at times and sad at others, you get to feel close to the actors, and because it's 23 years old and still getting good ratings.
Alan Sivell, Thank you for posting this, that is just amazing. And you are one lucky guy that you actually got to meet those amazing actors and interview them at such an interval point in the series as well as their careers. Just incredible.
I spent 2yrs on an Island in the Aluetians. We didn't have bombs dropping or people getting killed, but MASH sure reminds me a lot of the time spent there. The comraderie, the lonliness, the isolation, the weather, the drinking, the laughing and the crying was all too real. The friendships you make are for lifelong when you work, party, eat, sleep, and do everything day in and day out with the same people that you didn't know just a few months before. People that will lay down their life for you
Wow! Their last taping was 2 days b4 my 15th b-day! & @ that time was leaning so MUCH from this wonderful show. I remember once for a class assignment I wrote a letter thru a soldiers eyes that I got from watching M*A*S*H. I learned how to write & made my decision to become an actor from wonderful programing like this. I'm sad for this generation which lacks such quality program, but I happy that they can live thru my experiences thru reruns! Thank you for this!
Rest In Peace Colonel Potter.

Is Dallas the longest running TV series, or M*A*S*H? CBS in the good old days.
