  • haha lol good one simon :)

  • Soo gooodd

  • I thinks that's the only graphic disclaimer they've ever had. Damn, they must have been worried, and Simon was probably threatened with his job after that taping.

    Great for him!

  • Best joke he has ever made. The disclaimer only adds to it.

  • The fact that Simon Amstell managed to make David Cross laugh is a testament to his genius.

  • wtf is that lenguage!?

  • THe head shake at 0:37 makes it so much better.

  • Nirvana are my favourite band ever.. and i like hole... but that was genius

  • I started watching NMTB because of this (':

  • This has to be the best TV moment EVER - I was talking about it with a friend today and I couldn't speak for laughing, even - what? 4 years later xD

  • Fuck yes! =D

  • Quite possibly one of the most offensively witty lines I've ever heard (wait, does that work?)

  • It's funny because its true

  • @HukesofDazzard DISCLAIMER: HUKESOFDAZZARD IS DEFINITLY WRONG

  • Goodness I thought it was Jesse Eisenberg...

  • 0.36 he looks at ryan, his face just say it all

  • I dont get it :/

  • Comment removed

  • @z510s Oh yeah thanks. Of course I know who Nirvana

  • @z510s Kurt Cobain

  • @z510s *Kurt Cobain you mong

  • @Evuax Kurt Cobain is said to have killed himself via shotgun to head. There are many people (including myself) who think Courtney Love murdered him. There's a huge controversy surrounding it.

  • @AlexLong1000 Ahh.. I know this now. Thanks

  • legend!

  • Stop arguing, whether it's true or not, it's still a fucking hilarious joke :L

  • fuck off, she probably did kill him

  • Buzzcocks misses Simon Amstell so much.

  • Couldn't understand a word

  • oh Simon Amstell, you LEGEND :) What brilliance. The panelists didn't seem to find it funny, apart from Phil and the guy on Noel's team (not the Cribs guy- the other one). Their loss, I guess.

Besides, I don't think this was the worst joke on Buzzcocks- does anyone remember Lamarr's John Lennon joke? I thought that was far more tasteless.

  • @tuttifrutti91 worst joke? It's got to be one of the best - the words, delivery, and reactions are *all* hilarious. It's like a triple-decker laughfest.

  • @kaitzi I meant 'worse' in terms of tastelessness- and if you read my post, what I said was that I don't get all the furor about making this joke, because mark lamarr made one about john lennon's death which seemed far more tasteless, to me anyway.

I think this joke is brilliant. Always makes me laugh- Simon is wonderful. I miss him when I watch the newer episodes :(

  • @tuttifrutti91 I know what you meant - you said it was great and expressed amazement at it being considered the "worst". I was agreeing with your incredulity.

  • @kaitzi (ah, internet communications!)

  • @kaitzi ah right, sorry! internet communications, definitely. I can agree to that!

  • @tuttifrutti91 I would very much like to know that Mark Lamarr/John Lennon joke. Pretty please.

  • @123456yum123456 /watch?v=eLuT6bJNi2Q it's in about the last minute of this clip.

I like John Lennon and respect him a whole lot, so I felt that Lamarr's joke was a bit tasteless. That;s just me, though.

  • @tuttifrutti91 Oh I don't think it was too tasteless, just not that good. I mean, the John Lennon joke was relying in the premise that he was shot, which isn't too controversial, whereas this joke is insinuating that Courtney Love killed her husband which, most probably, is not true.

I suppose it just depends if you prefer Cobain or Lennon.

Thank you for the clip, though.

  • @123456yum123456 That's true. The joke that Mark made wasn't controversial, but I felt it made light of the fact that John Lennon was murdered, which I thought was crude. Anyway, I dislike Courtney Love, so I guess that's why I don't care too much! Haha I know, I'm biased.

  • I don't get Simon's joke. Why was everyone shocked?

  • @MiaLeonora The theory is that Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love's then husband, didn't commit suicide...but that Courtney had him killed.

  • @laurzadoll

Ohh! Thanks, I can now understand :)

  • disclaimer: simon amstell is definitely correct:P

  • That's probably the best call in the universe.

  • I can hear the screaming in his ear headset from here

  • awww noel and courtney are best friends :)

  • It's just me, or at 0:39-0:40 it seems like Fielding is giving Amstell a "v" for that comment??? o.O

  • Best joke of the entire series.

And I have no idea why youtube tagged two people in my other post.

    Sorry, bigmuff.

  • Disclaimer: Simon Amstell is Definately Wrong

  • @shedmeat you mean DEFINITELY wrong? =]

  • could someone please explain this joke to me? I have no idea who Courtney Love is and am very confuddled.

  • @Bromosome She was married to Kurt Cobain

  • @manurok1 Ooooh thank you

  • @Bromosome Hope you understand why everyone went oooooohh when he said the joke then :)

  • @manurok1 Haha yes, classic Amstell

  • @Bromosome @bigmuffexpress She was married to Kurt Cobain and there were rumours about Courtney killing him instead of it being a suicide.

There's even a documentary about it and joking about it tends to get people all riled up.

  • You can see that just before he said it, he couldn't look at either the audience or Noel! He knows he did wrong, so bloody wrong!

  • it doesnt how many times i watch this it cracks me up

i think its coz i knwo what is coming

  • can watch it every day

  • genius <3

  • I love Simon. I love his attitude, his style and his atmosphere. I am not even gay but I'm bedazzled

  • Noel looks adorable when he's offended.

  • Jermaine is like

    "LOL Wut?"

  • one of the greatest combacks ever// maybe

  • Bring amstell back!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how with just that one comment, Simon made them all look so uncomfortable (except Phil). :P

Seriously. This is one of the best jokes Simon ever made.

  • This is absolutely brilliant, regardless of whether Simon is right or not.

The only reaction I love more than Noel's is Phil's. He absolutely lost it.

  • Just watch it back and look at everyone's reactions individually. It's priceless.

  • Simon Amstell = LEGEND

  • "I saw a documentary I don't know what I am saying" LOL

  • @jangiew he was probably told to apologize immediately lol

  • Best joke ever

  • She would crush you like a twiglet!

  • He was talking about kurt kobain

  • What did he mean by the kill me and make itlook like suiside part?

  • @potatochips512 He was suggesting she killed her husband Kurt Cobain (he committed suicide) and made it appear he had killed himself. Please tell me you know who Kurt Cobain is?!

  • @potatochips512 He's talking about Kurt Cobain.. like saying Courtney killed him and made it look like suicide... get it?

  • Oh god, like it's been said previously, it takes a LOT to make Noel Fielding speechless. I adore Noel, and his expression was priceless. I applaud Simon, because that is a very gutsy joke to make, especially in front of two people who hang out with her. Everything about this is priceless. Simon's pen-in-mouth after, everyone's reactions, the slightly uncomfortable aura in the air, the disclaimer... just brilliant.

  • @MagicalRevolverRoad : This comment needs to be in the highest rated section.

  • love noels face wen he says it XP such a cruel but funny joke...

  • I love Noel's humor, but I have to say that this is by far my favorite joke from Buzzcocks.

  • the show hasn't been the same since he left imo, people aint tough enough on the celebs, the closest it came was when frankie boyle hosted it.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • Simon Amstell is definitely right.

  • fucking love it, love kurt as well

  • i love simon amstell for bringing out the dirt that is courtney love. brilliant!

  • He makes the whole joke by crossing his hands and eating the pen lol, makes it soo much funnier.

  • i believe simon can say what ver the hll he wants cuz after he sais something bad he pulls a face like that and seriusly try n get mad at some one that pulls a face like that!!

  • I love courtney but i laughed.

  • Holy crap. Takes talent to render Noel Fielding speechless.

  • lol at the little slide he does when he says "suicide", he knows he said something naughty

  • lmao i love the disclaimer.

  • @hippotoast

Noel is the best thing on the programme since Amstell left, if you don't appreciate his humour maybe it's you who is the fucking goon.

He wasn't owned, just speechless at Amstell's tasteless joke..as were the rest of them.

  • @theyorkshirewhites

There's no point in calling a joke 'tasteless'. It's aimed to entertain, therefore needs not to be tasteful. Well, the best ones at least.

  • "or kill me and make it look like suicide" epic or what

i have now nicked that joke for myself cos it is really dark n i love it lol

  • @rupra92

you do realise the joke is referring to cobain?

  • @1234FranciscoVasquez no i didn't, i feel bad now...

  • God I love him!!! <3

Noel's reaction is soo hilarious, and I love Simon's voice when he says: "... Make it look like suicide!" Just the way it goes up on 'like', it's so hot (weird, I know, but I think so anyway =P)!!! And then the way he just nonchalantly puts the pen in his mouth - also 'tres' hot!!! And his hair that episode...

In fact, every darn thing about Simon Amstell is completely hot. He is the definition of the word, IMO =D

    Love him =D

  • comedy at its lethal best. when anything inspires instant shock, you know you have said something significant because it challenges the status quo and confronts peoples belief systems and values. amstell, bill hicks, frankie boyle, richard pryor, lenny bruce, chris rock, stuart lee, chris morris, sacha baren cohen, peter cook. i think these guys hold great power and can change public opinion by pushing the envelope through their comic imagination and social observations.

  • @naughtyboymessiah nicely put there man.

  • @naughtyboymessiah

    You forgot George Carlin bro.

  • You can just imagine the producer's voice in his ear after he said that: "say sorry, say sorry NOW!"

  • @DaddyJut

you realise this is pre recorded?

  • That was a shitstorm of awsomeness

  • simon amstell is fucking awsome lol

  • Noels face was just the best part of this :)

  • my mouth dropped open and through laughing so hard I was nearly crying I wanted to shout "oh snap, he didn't just go there!"

But he did and it was hilarious.

  • Which season is this from? (and what episode?)

  • for gods sake who cares if it was rehersed or not its still funny...get over yourselfs!!!

  • It's funny because it's true

  • @wolfiekid82 your not jimmy carr

  • @superultramegamighty I don't believe I've ever claimed to be

  • Go on Simon least some people no the truth bout that subhuman whore lol

  • @broadcast185

To be fair though. Anything that is said on this has been written by a team of writers and rehearsed then it is shown on TV. So, although the joke was funny. He didn't think of it on the spot.

  • @Aurelio226 I think you're wrong, not all of it's rehearsed. This, for example, i think was not.

  • @SamioS23

It is, you may want to believe that it was spontaneous as that would make the joke look better. But you will just have to stop being ignorant and accept that it was rehearsed.

  • @Aurelio226

I'm assuming you work for the company then?

Also, no one's comic timing is that good with rehearsed lines.

  • @0Trashion0

I'm sorry but it was rehearsed and performed, I know you want to beielve that it's spontaneous BUT IT ISN'T bye.

  • @Aurelio226

It has a script Simon Amstell somewhat sticks to, hence the autocue, but the jokes are spontaneous, as is the banter.

I know this as a fact because I did my internship with Talkback Thames.

    "Bye"

  • @0Trashion0

Sorry, but I have seen the behing the scenes rehearsals of this and that joke was 100% planned. It is quite obvious just look at Simon Amstell the second before he says it. I dont car about your fake interships to be honest.

  • @Aurelio226 Its still a good joke though

  • @Aurelio226

    Baha!

    Okay, I believe you Freud.

  • @0Trashion0

Are you sure? Seeing as you took so long to reply. I have moved on. But thanks anyway

  • @Aurelio226 Sorry but my pal works on the show and has done since day one. The joke was entirely spontaneous, and there was a lot of debate as to legal implications before it was aired. It almost didn't make it, but my friend says Simon could always get away with far more than most would because of his "innocent demeanour".

  • @Aurelio226 you are a dick

  • This is my favourite joke of all time.

  • That was in poor taste. You can mock a lot of things, but someone's personal tragedy? I'm no fan, but I believe Kobain and Love had at least one child, which would now be of internet browsing age. If you're going to do a joke that's this shocking and potentially hurtful, it should at least be funny enough to be worth it.

  • @xanxei and this one was.

  • Comment removed

  • @xanxei I believe that Kurt's last name was spelt 'Cobain'.

  • Seeing as this is a British comedy, it's not as daring as you'd think. If it were American, where Courtney Love actually has some sway, it'd be different. The Pond also marks a difference in the senses of humour of each country: Britiain is a lot more self-deprecating and this extends to mocking celebrities!

  • the shock value, and the joke itself, just made this one hilarious moment of tv

  • The audience laughed a little uncomfortably, but they didn't boo, didn't hiss...they agreed with Amstell! And no one else on ths show said anything in protest! I think they were all just stunned at his honesty.

  • oooh simon has guts! oooooooh that was daring.

  • It's true! It's true!!

  • rofl!

  • Bowl cut needs to lighten up. You make the music he does, you have to be able to laugh at yourself.

  • I was watching this thinking...wanker...another wanker...back the original wanker... then he dropped that bomb. I was howling. Very funny. Bold as hell.

  • Holy shit my jaw dropped. Dude has balls to say that on TV cause Courtney lovers get their panties in a bunch.

I am actually afraid to opinionate on the suicide/murder conspiracy. I just can't believe someone would do such a thing to Kurt. Gah! All I know for sure it that the police did one shitty job of a police investigation. It was so freaking botched.

  • Courtney Love is an idiot

  • lol, it took me a couple seconds and then I burst into horrified laughter. Awesome.

  • i dont really get this - did courtney kill someone?

  • @AvalaDemson Are you joking? if not then some people believe she killed kurt cobain and made it look like suicide hence the joke

  • @AvalaDemson OMG I can't believe you just asked that question!! *facepalm*

  • oh my lord noel face at 0:33 is sooooo adorable and again at 0:47

give me a thumbs up if you agree

    :) :) :) <3 <3<3

  • BURN!!!!!!

  • @disclaimer ORLY?

  • ahhhhhh noel gets outed as some idiotic scenest (and he knows it)..... if your friends with love then your out the club it aint cool its like shagging kate moss once you do that shit then ur creds over. You wouldnt see julian barret doing this kind of thing.

  • lmao the "disclaimer" XD

    ahahahhaaha died laughing at thisss

  • all you idiots replying saying uh courtney didnt kill kurt cobain... hes a comedian, he was joking, idiots

  • i love noel's reaction :L

  • "... or kill me and make it look like suicide"

Ahahah! He's acting nervous when Simon started asking him about hanging out with celebrities. See the way he's twisting his hair. XDDDDD

  • Simon Amstell has just been awarded the Nobel Prize for comedy. That was the best joke I've ever heard. So bold, and by the look on Noel's face you can tell it was not rehearsed.

  • This is up there with Frankie Boyle's 'Richard Hammond' gag for equal measures of shocking and funny.

  • I HATE Courtney Love!

  • what episode is this from?

  • Noels hair looks the best here

  • Search: cobaincase

You can see that Simon is actually correct.

I went to see him live, and at the time i thought this was a funny joke and Kurt had committed suicide. Lately i've become more interested behind over theories and no my mind has changed completely.

  • Triple check your sources, the more fantastical a explanation is the more likely it's completely wrong. Just look at all the moon hoaxers who refuse to spend 15 mins on a science website. It's my personal experience that conspiracy theories can be entertaining, but are always dead wrong.

  • @Sh0nin I think it's pretty ignorant to assume all conspiracy theories are dead wrong. Granted the majority are usually incorrect but it doesn't rule out the validity of the few that may happen to be true.

  • Occam's Razor.

  • @ErrrrrrRia I seen a documentary on MTV a while ago about this, maybe the same one Simon was on about. Was very convincing, had me convinced afterwards there was more to it and maybe it wasn't suicide... but I guess we'll never know!

  • crosses the line which makes it more hilarious

  • at 0:33 noel fieldings face makes me LAWL

  • Aww, i love both Simon Amstell and Noel Fielding, so these sort of clips are my faves :D

    Thanks heaps for uploading it.

  • i love the fact it takes a few seconds to realise what simon had said, then his shocked face haha. This is funny. Guys lighten up, serio
