  • the whammy pedal phrase thing is the only part that kinda sounds like vai.if anyone,it sounds more larry carlton-ish with more intensity rather than vai.(especially with the keyboards in the song)

  • I want to buy his albums!

  • did he use a digitech whammy on some parts? :D

  • @Ne1musicband Seth Govan.

  • If you held a gun to my head asking me who this was I would have lost my life ....sure it was Steve Vai

  • OSOM *.*

  • touching tongues xD

  • this is so good

  • This song is so frickin SEXY!!!

  • very Steve Vai? BLAAAH this is SO GUTHRIE, Steve Vai can sucks his own dick Guthrie is FAR BETTER THAN HIM technically and musically

  • @hanifabidin90 true bro!

  • Something smells funny

  • One of my Guthrie favorites, last time I saw him play in Amsterdam, he dedicated this one to Amsterdam skunk city...

  • The Most Complete Guitar Player!!

  • Beasting!

  • My favorite track off of Erotic Cakes! Totally puts me in the mood..especially when the harmony guitar part comes in. :) 0:28

  • 3:22 - 3:32

Might be the best 10 seconds of anything I've ever heard

  • the only thing that sounds like vai is the effect but very diferently used

  • Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please don't compare Govan to Vai!!! They are both awesome in their own ways!!! Fact is, lots of people wish they could play like either of them!!!

  • weeeeeeeed

  • very guthrie and only guthrie Steve vai is really different

  • Most underrated track on the album

  • yo fellas, the feeling in this song is unreal.the man is a genious.

  • this guy puts every other guitarist to shame...

  • Great sound.

  • Skunk a reference to Jeff Baxter? Or am I off the mark?

  • @Krolblach good question.

  • @Krolblach I think he means the type of weed called "skunk" for its strong pungent smell. The atmoshpere of the song kind of screams " I was in an altered state of mind".

  • guthrie is great, as always... but i must say that seth is one of the most underrated bassists out there... all props to him... in fact, i think seth govan should be the benchmark for serious bass players... =)

  • 3:47

  • It's just so fucking awesome... I just... aaaAAAHHHH OH MY FUCKING GOD I JUST can't contain the feelings... this guy just doesn't stop fucking my mind!

  • It's such a beautiful song, it brings me to tears and gives me shivers every time i hear this masterpiece.

  • 4:42 is EAR SEX!

  • i can't believe i'm gunna see Guthrie at a clinic next week--FINALLY!

  • 2:45 - 3:46 Licks to learn before you die. Almost makes me cry. Pure guitar magic.

  • My Pants look like Hiroshima. Explosions EVERYWHERE.

  • The leads from 2:49 to the break have so much feel and emotion, its just SICK!! This dude is magical!! I used to think I was some what of a guitar player until I saw Guthrie, now I am a guitar holder!

  • @dwalk4824 My thoughts exactly!

  • i love this song!

  • Guthrie's style is more interesting than guys like Vai or Satch IMO, not to take anything away from them. Guthrie is just amazingly well versed in multiple styles. Also, the bass fills are incredible.

  • similar to Vai

if i dont know that song was maded by guthrie i swear was playing by Vai

    but great song

  • its very vai, but thats not a bad thing. hes still doin his own original and unique style of playing, hes just adding a bit of vai influence

  • It really isn't that vai......

    Bloody brilliant though :O

    <3

  • que efectos usa ?

  • looks like jesus

  • This is def my favorite track off the album

  • it sounds like jeff beck ..steve vai and guthrie govan are copying jeff beck!!!

  • Whos the bass player?

  • @Ne1musicband His brother im quite sure

  • @Brendanglo Yep! its Seth Govan, Guthries brother.

  • @Brendanglo

Incredible. I wonder what growing up in that household was like?

I'm drunk, and imagining Jason Becker is their dad. lol

  • @Brendanglo yes brother seth govan

  • @Brendanglo actually guthrie plays bass on this, he is an awesome bassist, like vic wooten kinda bassist chops, he's just ureal with anything with strings and a fretboard!!

  • @scottfree6 Nahh im pretty sure it'c Seth Govan on bass ^^

  • @Ne1musicband

    Seth Govan, his brother

  • @Ne1musicband Seth Govan

  • @Ne1musicband Seth govan

  • @Ne1musicband seth govan

  • Ah Mr. Govan, you are awesome. Puts me in mind of a sunny Sunday in the park with friends or a girlfriend.

  • Sounds like something you would hear in Sonic games.

  • @TheHornet79 I was thinking exactly the same thing haha i love that music

  • agree, sound Vai, but it's also more catchy :)

None of them is better, they both know everything about guitar and play their own amazing stuff

  • Guthrie rapes Vai. The end.

  • @aubzebra yes guthrie is great but copy paste steva vai is not the best ...if i want to hear a vai song i will listen vai not guthrie...guthrie is a copy not the real thing ...his playing is great and nice songs

  • @katseazzz

man this is jazz fusion its totally not steve vai style

  • Comment removed

  • This is how Steve Vai wished he could play.

  • @Sambuccashake: Plz listen "Touching Tongues". Steve, Guthrie and other guitarists have their own skill and style, so plz don't say like that :)

  • @Sambuccashake Vai should be a little more humble. I think Guthrie could teach him a lot of thing about music, and life :-)

  • @Sambuccashake Nope.avi

  • @Sambuccashake Steve Vai went there and back over 20 years ago dude and then back again before this was released . Great playing though

  • @Charl760 steve vai is compositionally so boring tho man. if u can name a track u think disproves my opinion feel free lol

  • @charliehustlenflow Compositionally boring dude wtf ? Have you heard any of Vai's stuff or have any idea of what you're going on about ? Vai's LEAGUES better both playing and compositionally just to all of passion and warfare or anything by Vai . While Guthrie is an incredible player a lot of his stuff just sounds improvised . Dont start slaging Vai off just when another good guitarist comes along

  • @charliehustlenflow Both players are exceptional but to say Vai is compositionally boring is quite naive. The diversity of his output is enormous and almost unparalleled. I'll name a few: Shadows and Sparks, Frangelica Pt 1&2 (composed both for orchestra), Fire Garden Suite, The Riddle (one of my favorites), etc. Opinions are not facts. I hope you take that comment back, because we are indebted for having both Vai and Govan around creating great music and inspiring us as guitarists.

  • This sounds sonl much like Steve vai it's not even funny

  • jus what I was gonna say...definitely a take off.Well done though.

  • This would be the song that would be played when your just chillin with friends somewhere. Absolutely amazing song!

  • Reminds me of my old sega genesis days :).

I hope he makes another album soon, im running out things to listen to on my ipod.

  • Gotta say the bass in this song is just as amazing as the guitar. Erotic Cakes ftw!

  • i love this song ..is a master what a feel in every note listen the bend at 2:48 .. really in all song 5/5!!!

  • 2:42. Guthrie plays one of the best solos ever recorded on this piece. Absolutley brilliant. The choice of notes, the soulful feel, the appropriate speed and technique. The sound of his signature Suhr & Cornford amp are incredible. A true master virtuoso. Guthrie please record more music for us, we need it.

  • @cyclist4now Oh yes, my favorite bit of Guth. Absolute magic.

  • @cyclist4now Well put my friend. Now he has his appropriate guitar and amp he can really go for the jugular. He's trying to find the time to spend quality time locked away in the studio to bring out another album.God, I wish I had the money to pay for it!

  • not my kind of music but i love it anyways

  • Oh this is my absolute favourite! Guthrie govan is simply incredible!

  • no it really does have a huge "die to live" influence

  • Very steve Vai ! :)

  • Very guthrie ;)

  • @Brendanglo Insanely Guthrie :P

  • @Brendanglo It is very Guthrie but also has hints of Zappa in it

  • Vai can't play like Guthrie even in his most wild dreams...

  • @Brendanglo very vai

  • @eelrewob psh, steve vai couldnt touch guthrie with a 50ft fretboard
