I have a question, I need more RAM memory, these are my references Model Name: MacBook Model Identifier: MacBook2,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 1 GB Bus Speed: 667 MHz
If you are anywhere near a TD Curran you can pick up your ram there, or any authorized Apple reseller or Apple store should be able to help you out. Currently Apple Stores do not carry that specific ram. You should be able to upgrade your ram to a total of 4 GB it may only recognize 3 GB. We have seen with Snow Leopard that it may actually recognize 4 GB. Just ask for PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2.
It's pretty straight forward. The RAM sticks are asymmetrical, so if they don't go in, don't force it. Also, be careful that you are in as static free of an environment as possible.
Is it giving you any beeps when you try to turn it on? That would mean that the RAM is not pushed in all the way, or the RAM sticks are defective. If you don't hear anything (beeps), it could be an issue with your battery. There was a re-occurring issue with Macbook batteries going out. If that's the case, you might try plugging in your computer to the AC power connection to turn it on. If that is the problem, you should take your Macbook to the closest Apple store and swap out the battery.

I would be damn right scared to replace ram on a macbook opposed to the MacBook Pro which is simple

Yeah, sometimes I have to build up some courage too - but the Macbooks aren't TOO tough to do. Good luck!
