  • #1, it wasn't a fair pull. The explorer just locked its breaks. only an idiot would do that in a pull.

  • @motorfirst ok but u just compaired a built up dodge aginst a basic ford once again in an even fair pull the ford will win without a doubt out pull the dodge ive had the arguement got the two togather and guess what in real life the ford whooped the dodge by far So once we can get a commercial that actually shows dodge actually comming out ahead them ill accept it and fyi the new hemi still doesnt compaire to the old one

  • 204 likes their cars to catch on fire while towing.

  • Comment removed

  • And i got my money on the fact the ford was an absolute base model and the durango what top of the line and for the fact of motor size why its like having an adult play tug of war with a kid not fair and ford didnt take the bailout everone else did so evd of story dodge suck FORD kig of truck watch top gear they already did a test simalier

  • @jokinjoker05 wow you really compared a V8 to a V6 that just is straight dumb and have you ever seen a F150 run up the face of a mountain like the Ram Power Wagon it in the Ram Trucks | Guts & Glory | Power Wagon "King" commercial. I have never and it wont happen

  • You say the durango is more powerful but i can cbviously teel u put the foed in park then let the durango pull it backwords caise u can see the front wheels lock nice try tho

  • Whoa! The Dodge didn't catch on fire?

  • So let me get this straight...

Dodge is comparing a V8 truck based SUV

to a V6 Unibody car based Crossover?

Try harder dodge your comparing apples to oranges.

An Expedition (Closest real comparison) would rip this thing a new asshole.

  • Car-based crossover vs. Truck-based SUV.. OBVIOUSLY the dodge would win.

  • Guys voice is fucking annoying

  • ...oh, jeez

  • Oh come on people, the Ford was obviously on park, before they drag each other to the opposite side, there should have been tires screeching, but the ford didn't even try, It doesn't mean I hate dodge but can't u see...... V8 vs. V6?? Let's see if ford gets a real test!!!!

  • @eRxi99 U STUPID THAT WAS A V6 VS V6

THE NEW PENTA START 3.6L V6 FOR DODGE IS CAPABLE TO KICK OUT 305 BHP

  • It looks like they found one of Detroit's nice neighborhoods to film this commercial.

  • Do they put the 5.0 in the explorers? I was wondering because my uncle said he had one for work.

  • @hehe799 in the old ones

  • @0:13, the 2011 dodge durango citadel and 2011 ford explorer limited equipped with their most powerful engines available. The most powerful for the durango is the 5.7 hemi v8 with 360 hp --.vs.-- 3.5 v6 with 290 hp...That is no where near a fair fight.

  • This is clearly a fair test. People are saying the Ford is in Neutral and on the brakes they just pull the brake light fuse your fucking dumb. Anyone that knows anything about cars were to predict the results of this. Its an SUV vs a station wagon nuff said.

  • @ronmann606 this is clearly staged. anyone that knows anything about cars will tell you anytime 2 vehicles hook together and pull in opposite directions the competition looks nothing like this. the explorer would have put up some kind of resistance to begin with and would end up spinning the tires before being drug around. I'm not saying the explorer is better, more powerful, etc. than the durango. my point is that the commercial doesnt even come close to what will happen.

  • @TheRealMrBlake Theres no way its staged. I think why it looks staged is because TC is on in the Explorer and the brake grabbed the front wheel to send power to the other wheel. The magnetic coupling to the rear wheels slips, so they roll. I think you're expecting the Explorer to behave like a 4x4, which it is not.

  • @ronmann606 ....at 0:13 read the bottom line....the most powerful engines equipped so its a hemi 5.7 v8 vs a 3.5 v6

  • @PureAmericanMuscle90 Ya I know that. I didn't mean "fair" like that I mean Dodge didn't rig the test unfairly. They don't need to its a truck.

  • Why on earth would you ever buy a unibody SUV? You might as well buy a station wagon or a car for gods shake, at least GM still has it down, framed rwd platform SUVs, thats the way it should be, hopefully GM doesnt follow these clowns and jump on the bandwagon with a unibody Tahoe, if they do that all 3 might as well get rid of all their SUV's cause they're not worth crap.

  • my little bronco 2 with a 2.9 could pull that durango if the durango was in neutral and on the brakes the way the explorer was. this commercial proves nothing.

  • @TheRealMrBlake your so full of shit clearly the brake lights go off.

  • @TheRealMrBlake This commercial is saying that the engine (choice) in the durango is much more powerful. Sure this may be rigged (of course its a Chrysler commercial) But the durango offers a 5.7L V8 and the explorer..a 3.5 or turbo i4.. I wouldn't be surprised if the outcome in this video is true.

  • @clarda1 i understand they are promoting they're big engine. it's just disappointing that people are so dumb to believe this pull is 100% real. everyone needs witness a real hook up or at least look up one and see how different the event unfolds.

  • herp derp derp

  • Attention Ford fans: The whole point of this is to show that the new Explorer is basically a minivan with less capability than the Durango. Complaining that this is unfair is like complaining that it's unfair for someone to beat you at checkers because he's a better player. I guess all this QQing is the result of two generations of Americans raised on self esteem lollipops and unicorns instead of reality.

  • Of course a v8 will out tow a v6... Dodge really think consumers are stupid. Well, they're kinda right. Chrysler is still thinking in the 90's; if everyone drives a Chrysler, we'll be out of gas by 2015.

  • I'm glad dodge put an ad like this out clowning Ford, have u people heard or seen those ads you know the ones that say I traded my BMW 4 a flex LOL come on now nobody in there right mind would do that shit, ROTFL

  • Lets see the Durango has a V8 and the Ford Explore has a v6 hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe they should put the Durango up against the Expo oh wait the expo would blow it out of the water. Dodge is full of idiots clearly proven by there comparison.

  • Durango may be the titan of the suv world but the GM suvs are the Kings of it.

  • Really Dodge, always picking on the little guy, let's put your 4x4 Dodge Durango against my all wheel drive Yukon Denali and see what happens.

  • they put the ford in neutral hit the brakes and pulled it

  • @esr1199 No.. The Ford is front wheel drive - it was in park. The interesting thing about the new explorer is that if the transfer case for the rear axle overheats, it shuts down the four wheel drive and reverts to front wheel drive automatically.

  • First I think people should look at legal appeared at the bottom of the screen,

Second that the Ford is obviously is not braking due to the lack of bracklight.

  • @Ferraz298 Ummmm you can simple take out a "bracklight" fuse

  • @wshelto6 sure you can, my girlfriend did it to her Honda Accord when her alarm wouldn't stop going off in the middle of the night, granted she didn't know it was a brakelight fuse, but thats not the point. Oh, and you CAN take out the BULBS.

  • Let's get a Trailblazer in there and see who pulls who

  • The Durango is heavier and has more power while the Explorer is ligher with less power. And come on, anyone who knows how a pull is won can see this is obviously stages, that and it's a fucking Dodge commercial. Come on yall, the Durango has always been in a class of it's own. While the new Durango can tow more then the new Explorer, then pit it against an Expedition. All in all, you fan boys are just retarded trying to even compare.

  • it's a 2011 explorer thats why you think it dont look like one.... It is in fact a ford... PS: FORD SUCKS BALLS

  • i find it really funny that they say its the durango against the explorer, yet the 1 being owned isnt a ford, hence y people dont like dodge

  • @tjploetz95 Go to Google and Search this under Images... "2012 ford explorer side" U will see that ITS THE SAME VEHICLE! 2012 Explorer. Tried putting the link in here but this stupid thing wont let me..

  • OR its a 4WD Durrango vs a FWD Explorer. No matter what, this is BS. Blatant BS.

  • Sooooo f'n stupid.

  • What a lame, crock of lying shit. Wow. Dodge must think we're all retards. Watch the video & examine which one's ass squats - the Dodge's. It's the only one on the gas. This is one of the most idiotic car commercials I've ever watched. If this was done for REAL, I think the outcome would've been quite the opposite - it's all about traction. In fact, I know it. No wonder Dodge went bankrupt & needed the bailout.

  • are people really fighting over an suv video??

    lmfao

  • MPG highway for the ford shown 25mpg MPG highway for the Durango shown... 20... Dodge does know that only a small fraction of people need that power and are looking for that power...

  • First thing the Ford only pulls forward enough to take the slack out of the chain. Then it appears that the person in the Ford puts it in park or takes the foot off the gas then applies the brake and just holds the break.

Second if they were trying to show the pulling power difference at least have both SUVS making the attempt not just one pulling the other getting pulled with breaks applied or in park.

  • @samsung168 Brakes not Breaks mistype at the end

  • @samsung168 first thing, you're retarded

second, i think you're a little mad because we all know the explorer is a piece of shit

  • @hockey3310 Lol now thats funny your calling me retarted cause the commerical isnt making a comparison its just showing that even with the explorers brakes applied it can pull it thats it. If any thing your the retarted for getting all emo about an observation that I pointed out about how the commerical isnt an accurate representation and no where did I even bother to talk shit about either SUV's makes or models.

  • Comment removed

  • @samsung168 dude, seriously, there is no way the brakes were in use.. dont you think all 4 wheels would be locked if they were being used?? if the brakes were being used the only explanation would be that the explorers braking system was designed by crackheads. the reason why the front wheels are skidding is because its front wheel drive

  • @hockey3310 Ok man thats my bad didnt know they were changed to FWD. But that still doesnt completely change my mind that the comparison wasnt good the expolorer's tires still didnt start smoken or anything they just appear to be locked up throttle was just being maintained and what not. I just know if i was hooked up to somone to see who could pull who unless it was bouncing on rev limiter. But we dont know who did what you cant hear the engines.

  • @samsung168 Last bit got messed up when I tried to fit everything in. Its suppose to say If I was hooked up to see who could pull who Id full throttle it till it smokes the tires or I start bouncing off rev limter with no progress.

  • @samsung168 true, but lets be honest if your watching a video made by a car manufacturer do you really expect the other car in comparison to win? now me being a dodge guy i found this video quite amusing haha

  • suck that ford fags

  • And how is it Dodge's fault that Ford can’t fit a v8 in that piece of crap Explorer that’s built on a car chassis? Please, even with the v8 it would still get rolled. And Expeditions are not in the same class you ford hicks.

  • Okay so you idiots took a Front-wheel drive Explorer V6, and put it against your 4x4 All-wheel drive Durango V8? What type of complete idiocy is this?

  • I'll always be a Ford guy, but that was funny haha The new Durago looks good too!

  • Also why isnt the fords front tires spinning?

  • Meh we need a proper 4x4 vs 4x4. PLus in these tug o wars, who ever looses traction first looses.

  • You can tell he wasn't flooring it. Ford puts v6 and just added a 4 cylinder with a turbo. Even if this commercial was proven true. Doesn't make the dodge instantly better.

  • the fact is that they wouldnt use the expedition againsted the durango because the exp would destroy it the tow cap on the durango is 7500 and the expeditions tow cap is 9200 it would make the durango look like junk with there hemi which has been a joke for along time

  • @bada6875 hahahahaha see the funny thing is is that the expidition isn't in the same class as the durango. the tiny explorer is in the same class as the durango so technically it is a fair fight. now if ford would put a v8 in the explorer then it MIGHT have a chance.

  • Put that pos durango against the expedition an then see whose laughing

  • ahahaha...this makes me laugh, dodge had to go up against one of fords v6's just to make there v8 suv look good... before you fan boys start trolling lookup the facts... just saying... the truth hurts

  • You cant fake a commercial without lawsuits being all over your ass. You know its a true commercial. So stop making up stuff to backup the softer explorer.

  • i think that Durango had a dark passenger!

    XD

  • ford-dweeb

  • False avertisement? Lol, seems some people in the comments are a little butthurt. Its comparing Ford's and Dodge's most popular SUV's. Ford didn't step up to the plate and offer a better engine option, plain and simple. Previous Explorers had a V8 option, why not an ecoboost V6 or a V8. I suppose it being built on a SEDAN platform must have hindered that this time around.

  • All the bitches complaining that this is false advertising and that the ford wasnt even trying are just trying to make excuses as to why ford sucks so bad in comparison to dodge.

  • another false advertisement...

  • How stupid. Did anyone notice that the Explorer front wheel after the tighten up vechiles never turned. I think someone had the brakes on instead of trying to pull. If one is pulling in different directions, the drive wheel turn, and the freewheeeling wheel will roll to the direction of which it is being pull. Notice the front right tire on the Exployer never moves after the two supposedly start pulling. STUPID STUPID STUPID commerical.

  • If I had the money, I'd buy the Dodge. But nope... maybe in 10 or 15 years when it's affordable for most Americans.

  • Durango:365ps(5.7L / V8HEMI)

    Explorer:294ps(3.5L / V6)

    not fair...

  • Test it with a toyota highlander. I bet the durango will just take of in half a sec with that other piece of junk.

  • @MotorFirst Why not test it with a toyota Sequoia.

  • I bet ford people hate this. I love to see a ford get beet up by a dodge

  • @MotorFirst me to

  • To all the people saying that the Ford engine is smaller: "And what you're capable of towing is what differentiates an SUV built on an SUV platform, from an SUV built on a sedan platform."- Taken from the video description. It's Ford's own fault to build an SUV on a sedan platform. Dodge is simply showing how stupid that is

  • LMAO....on owners of Ford Exploder!!!!

  • 18 people have Ford Explorers

  • I knew it was a Dodge commercial when I heard that one-of-a-kind voice on TV....haha

  • Ha Ha Ha~

Though I love Detroit Big Three, but I got to say that Dodge did slam Ford, good job man!

  • Still rockin' the Bronco. Best. SUV. Ever.

  • Hahaha, I love it!

  • wow the durango its sooo much better than the exploder.DODGE FTW!!!

  • Besides, Ford still makes the Expedition. It has a V8 and it is RWD with available 4x4. It also has a 3rd row. It isn't based off a CAR chassis just like the Durango. Thats right, the Explorer is based off a Taurus. Why does Dodge have to compare their Durango, a true SUV, to some pathetic FWD crossover to prove themselves? I own a Durango myself; a commercial like this doesn't make me a proud owner at all. My Grand Marquis would out pull that Explorer; Ford ruined the Explorer forever :(

  • test

  • yeah, well next thing you know is a ford commercial showing fuel-less durango stranded somewhere in the middle of death valley and explorer passing by to pick up the driver. "oh. we kinda forgot about fuel economy".

  • I like the comments. Youre all either ford ppl or just cant listen. The commercial was simply showing the only competition that te Durango has. It was showing that, of the two, the Durango is better. It was showing that the only other suv in it's class even with the highest grade limited model and biggest motor, the durango would drag it around the track and still have decent lap times. Read up. The explorer has active awd. You just saw how well that worked. just because dodge built a bigger, s

  • @FoxQuadRider1225 your right about that! The Durango is way better! And at least the Durango still has a v8 option.

In a comparison test for car and driver that had the Explorer, Durango, and Honda Pilot in a shootout, the Durango beat the Explorer and Pilot. The only thing the Explorer had better was the 0-60, but by a few miliseconds. But as far as top speed, the Durango wins.

Like I said, I agree with you 100%. The Durango is built better.

  • Quite possibly the stupidest video EVER. No wonder Dodge needed a bailout and purchased by Fiat. They compare a V8 Durango to a V6 Explorer. RWD vs FWD.

Dodge, what ever it is you're smoking, stop and give it back to the Grand Cherokee assemblers in Detroit. Major FAIL on all parts.

  • Good job pulling a front wheel drive explorer. I would like to see 4x4 vs 4x4 please.

  • Comparing a RWD Hemi SUV to a V6 FWD Explorer, right... Whatever though, lets be realistic. How often do you actually see people towing with SUVs? Almost never; that is why people buy pickup trucks. Mommy has the SUV, Daddy has the truck. Mommy doesn't need a $42k 360hp AWD SUV to pick the kids up after practice, unless her kids weigh 500 lbs each. She is probably going to buy an Explorer; the SUV that is $14k cheaper and doesn't need to prove itself after 21 years.

  • @Beldar4214 Poor Ford fanboy :( You actually see lots of SUVs pulling boats and shit. The Durango has much better towing and power even at the V6 level. The new Pentastar V6 is one of the best V6's on the market today. And who says women don't like power?

  • @swalte6325 Who said I'm a poor Ford fanboy? I may have a beater Grand Marquis that I DD but I also have a Dodge Durango for hauling around music equipment. I live in Paulding County, GA; 'round here full size and super duty trucks are doing all the towing whether it is a jetski, trailer of scrap, or fat ass pontoon boat. SUVs belong to the wife hauling their 8 children. You missed my point regardless. It is unfair to compare a top of the line Hemi Citadel model to a base V6 FWD model.

  • @Beldar4214 Read carefully:

2011 Durango... versus 2011 Ford Explorer Limited model with their most powerful engine shown

  • @FoxQuadRider1225 It is still obviously a FWD Explorer. Read my last comment; Why does Dodge need to compare the Durango to something built on the Taurus chassis? My 1999 Durango with a 5.2 and 190k miles would pull a Taurus going sideways; doesn't prove anything at all.

  • @Beldar4214 You missed the video's point. Read the description, Ford built an SUV on a sedan platform. So no kidding that it'll have a less powerful engine. This is what Ford put out, so this is what Dodge had to compare against. If they make a bigger engine then maybe Dodge will make another commercial starring the two SUVs again.

  • @swalte6325 You're still not paying attention. Ford makes the Expedition, which is a true SUV. You know, it has a V8 and is RWD or 4x4. Not some overweight car. Why couldn't they compare to that? Seriously the fact that Dodge decided to compare their real SUV to a car based hunk of garbage over a real SUV is pretty degrading, don't you think?

  • Lol. front wheel drive.

  • LOL that is legit. However i see way more explorers on the road than durangos i wonder why. I still like both vehicles i think they look pretty dam good.

  • iS that legal to use other TradeMarks like Ford in commercial without permission?

  • @ecksor88 Only if what they are suggesting is true. So yes. If the Ford was the better of the two, then you would have a lawsuit.

  • @ecksor88 Notice how there are tons of commercials saying this car gets more MPG than (insert rival car brand and car type)?

  • THAT WAS BAD AZZ !!!!!! HAHAHAHA GO DODE !!! THATS REAL AMERICAN MUSSEL

  • @mak450...yes Ford took a subsidy loan. But it was under a program set up in 2007. All of them took a similar loan under that program. GM used money from a TARP program that was previously set up by the government and paid back their loan. But that's water under the bridge. I think Dodge should say in the ad what drivetrains each vehicle has. RWD will ALWAYS beat FWD in a tug of war if you use similar vehicle types. The ad is very misleading.

  • @SpeakEnglishInTheUSA Is it really misleading? The Durango will tow many times more than the Explorer. This gets the point across nicely.

  • @SpeakEnglishInTheUSA

You can clearly see the rear wheels spinning to no avail, and the front wheels locking up from not enough torque. That explorer was 4wd, rear lost traction from lack of power to plant the vehicle.

  • @xXAlphaRevanXx That Explorer was not AWD/4WD, it was FWD! in AWD/4WD the rear tires wouldn't roll backwards while being pulled if there were torque actively going to them.

  • Ok, now let's compare the FUEL ECONOMY!

  • @woorhamlee They actually get very similar mpg

  • i bet the v8 gas would pull the durango

  • Dodge, why dont you play fair and put this video up with a Dodge V6? Could it be that the Explorer V6 is better than same class Dodge Durango V6? Insanely stupid..

  • @shiva87 Max towing on the Durango V6 is 6200lbs vs 5000lbs for the Explorer V6 as per both manufacturer's websites.

Actually in reality max towing doesn't really play into tug of wars like this, whoever gets traction first and budges the other vehicle usually wins. So yes, pretty stupid ad just not for the reason you'd like to believe.

  • @mak450 My bad - Thanks for the explanation.

  • uh-huh. uh-huh. i think i'll go with the explorer thank you.

  • Dude....a V8 vs a V6 is not even a fair comparison. 400lbs ft of torque vs 250lbs ft of torque. Come on dude. But that V8 does a whopping 9 miles city and 15 highway. You cant tow for long distances without filling up. LOL

  • @Blizzck211 aahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah funny man fucking hilarious you write that shit ahahah

  • @Blizzck211 that because they showed both models with the biggest available engine.... which is a v6 in the ford. and your wrong on the fuel economy, its 13 city 20 highway for the dodge vs 17 city 24 highway for the ford. id trade off a few mpg for a better styled, more capable, with high quality interior SUV!

  • @bmx4009 you can actually get up to 24 with the durango ;) and that ford is ugly as fuckkkkk

  • All they did here was show that a Taurus couldnt beat a proper RWD v8 suv!!!

  • Maybe Ford should do an ad comparing how much bailout money each one took. Over $15 million to Chrysler and ZERO to Ford. Dont care if it's paid back or not. It was still taxpayer money used to bail out Chrysler. Where was my bailout money?

  • @SpeakEnglishInTheUSA Hey, do you want to hear what I learned in highschool english??? Always check your sources.

  • @SpeakEnglishInTheUSA Ford wouldn't have survived had Chrysler and GM gone bellyup, or do you think Mullaly went to DC with GM and Chrysler execs for shits and giggles?

And as long as it's all "taxpayer money" a quick google search will tell you that Ford is no stranger to government loans. Hell they apparently even got a $5 billion loan from the energy department when all the dust cleared. Just because they weren't called bailouts doesn't mean they didn't receive any of "your money".

  • Rear wheel drive Durango VS front wheel drive Explorer...thats a fair comparison. Then add a Hemi V8 Vs a smaller V6. I don't think the Dodge engineers did their homework on this one. Even Bill Ford would know the weight gets taken off the front wheels and transfers to the rear wheels. If it were an AWD Explorer the rear wheels wouldn't be free wheeling and the Explorer driver needs to take his foot off the brake. The front wheels should be spinning out of controle on the Explorer. Bailout!!

  • @SpeakEnglishInTheUSA LOL well done.

  • I thought in a tug-o-war....both trucks are supposed to be on the gas. The explorer was just on the brakes.

  • @camaro400

Doesn't matter what it did, Ford's V6 has nothing on the Hemi.

  • ford still looks better

  • 6 People drive a Ford Explorer and are thinking to themselves "Oh, jeez...look how pathetic my Ford is"

  • Thumbs up if these dodge commercials make you want DEXTER BACK!!!

  • good luck getting a durango built properly though, as all the factory workers get high and drunk before they start their work shift and on their lunch breaks.... whata joke!! the people putting together dodge vehicles dont even have half a brain.

  • not a dodge guy but this shit is funny

  • As I said on AB this ad is so sweet but both are really great product.

  • But wait, Dodge didn’t mention in their ad that when you tow something with the new 2011 Durango (Citadel), it spontaneously sets itself ablaze!

Just search on YouTube: "Citadel on fire at Cherry Blossom Parade in D.C."

    You will laugh yourself silly.

When that happens, it will need that 2011 Explorer (Limited) to tow it to the nearest fire department. :)

  • This just shows that Dodge is a species in its death throes while Ford is adapting with the times.

  • go dodge!!!!!!!!!

  • love both SUVs ( Ford's a crossover but... hey) , but Ford needs to put the coyote "five-oh" under the hood just to give that extra option... if people still want an SUV (crossover) they'll get the V6... problem solved

  • Honestly IMO, I vision to different classes of vehicles here. The Durango looks more full-sized than anything. Put it next to the Explorer & it looks enormous. The V6 Cherokee would make this more fair.

An honest comparison would be against the Expedition or Tahoe. Chrysler made a more modern approach of what those type of full-size SUV's ought to be. It's pointless to make a commercial of that type of SUV & compare it to smaller, less powerful, & less capable crossovers ( From any brand )

  • @Intechdude300 Agreed

  • Fair comparison. V6 vs V8. Lame.

  • @kris1991

Gearing and diff setup is more important than power

  • @kris1991 Ford doesn't have any higher engine than the v6. That's their choice. They'd do the same thing if the situation were reversed..

  • well this could've just ended on paper. 360hp v8 hemi vs 290hp v6... who the hell did you expect to win?

i thought the age of gasy suv was coming to an end. who the hell needs to tow a house on a regular basis?

  • @stevz0r The dodge will.

  • Comment removed

  • "Oh, jeez..." Haha....

  • in fords defence their rugged minivan is based on a FWD platform vs the Dodges RWD jeep based platform.

  • Very Good.

    ♠WS♠

  • i love it

  • Lol! GREAT!
