Higurashi is a very strange anime. It starts out each arc with a group of friends that play and have fun together, but in almost every arc one of them has a psycotic breakdown and does something horrible, even if it was with good intentions. It speaks to the viewer in many different ways and can appeal to many different kinds of viewers because of it's vast amount of genres it could cover (Slice of life, comedy, Horror, gore, sad, and mystery).It, and it's sequal Umineko, are two of my favorites

higurashi is so sad and an hard anime to watch its the first anime that i accually like couse its about friends trying together find a good future, and rika wants to protect her friends from the death-ends worlds

@ViolinSnowKid I believe you're thinking of Koji Kondo. Kawai Kenji's a popular composer, but he never did any work involving Mario or Legend of Zelda. : )

I think if there's one thing that Higurashi should teach you, it';s that murder and mistrust only bring unhappiness. We all know this, but yet we throw facts like this under the rug, so to speak. No matter what, misfortune exists, but personally, I'm proud of people who decided something so "simple" could open their eyes. It never hurt to have a show or whatever possess you to think about the world around you.

Well, naturally things are going to be different...  I mean, we don't have a reset button, so to speak.. But what I'm saying is if it's caused one person to stop and think about the world around them and look at everything that is going on, maybe it could provoke one person to stop our never ending cycle of violence, so to speak. One person's actions could make another person stop and think about their's. Yeah.. I'm Naive, but I'd rather that then just sitting in depression and doing nothing.

Still my buttocks, it's only a show, and an anime at that. If people are going to be babies then they should first get some bakround info and when it says "blood" they shouldn't think about watching it. Please don't try to sound all cool and whatnot, just say what you have to say and clearly. What you just said made no sense at all, or is just off the topic.

im merely refering to the symbolic aspects of the anime. alot of people once thought that uncle toms cabin was just a book.. but it still caused a uproar in public opinion in the US, and was more or less a social, symbolic catalyst to the civil war. what im merely saying, is that every medium, portrays the satire of the day.. this anime, merely portrays a moment in time, in which we would like to repent, atone for our mistakes.. and it gives renewed insight, in what could have been.

There is no gore in higurashi gore is guts higurashi only has a lot of blood thats it... its not even deathly scary if someone cant watch this anime because its 'to scary' then they are pathetic

It really brings out what the second season is, a sad season full of emotion and sadness.

It also, brings out what Rika really feels.
