  • Ha! great vid; ... (is this a spoof on all the weirdo creationist stuff on YT?) seems like it is ... but I can't tell ...

  • Eric, creatard

  • Guys, please watch "Eric Hovinds Stupidity Minute: How old is the Earth" (made by CommonReason) as suggested by swordhunter12..... The suggested video contains logical arguments... not nonsensical arguments based on something they don't even know....

  • is this guy pretty much trying to say the earth was 4400 years old? So the dinosaurs were still alive 4400 years ago?

  • Moon receding: completely consistent with a 4.6 billion year old earth. Creationists (either through incompetent math ability or dishonesty) exaggerate the numbers. 3.85E10cm/3.8 cm/year = 10 billion years.

Human population: known to have greatly increased the growth rate in the last few centuries due to greatly improved food sources, sanitation, disease control, etc. The Hovind model of human population growth has only a few dozen or couple hundred people building the Egyptian Pyramids.

  • Sahara desert: another example of the lying creationist citing a phenomena know to vary and assuming its constant.

Oil: same as Sahara desert and erosion.

Magnetic field: a creationist lie that was debunked DECADES ago yet the lying creationist is still citing it. The magnetic field is NOT getting weaker. It is simply changing its orientation. The dipole moment is decreasing and the non-dipole moment is increasing. ANOTHER example of citing known variable phenomena and assuming constant.

  • Its further ironic how creationist liars like Kent and Eric try and argue, "we don't know that radioactive decay rates are constant" and then turn around, cite a phenomena that is KNOWN to vary (erosion rates) and insist its been constant.

Comets: some of the youngest comets have lifespans of less than 500 years, and yet they're still here, so clearly the 'comet capture' theory is correct and the Hovinds are lying their butts off once again.

  • Continental erosion rates are offset by land buildup through earth quakes, volcanism, etc. Furthermore, erosion has greatly INCREASED since industrialization. Perfect example of the lying creationist cherry picking data to try and make it fit their pre-ordained conclusions and ignoring opposing forces.

  • The Methuselah isn't proof of a "young earth" and it DISproves the flood, since the tree predates the flood and a global flood would destroy all the plant life.

The great barrier reef again is again, proof of nothing, given the Hovinds know nothing about oceanography.

  • if the earth is only 6000 years old than why can we see astronomical objects that are more than 6000 light years away? in fact, the nearest galexy to ours is over 2 million light years away.

  • Look up "Eric Hovinds Stupidity Minute: How old is the Earth" on youtube. It's admittedly sarcastic and a bit cruel but it makes a good point as does the rest of commonreason's series IMHO.

  • @swordhunter12 I'm sure Hovind can back up everything he is saying, it's just a minute isn't enough... and The Stupidity Minute isn't a minute long, but much longer.

  • I can see your point but I have to ask why Hovind felt the need to make these videos so short. These are subjects that need to talked about in great detail and, to be honest, there are only a couple of reasons I can think of for making them so short: 1. to have enough time to add in the special effects. 2. strict deadlines. 3. trying to make a quick point without the need to justify themselves.

  • This may sound unfair but leaders of the creationist movement are known for lying. Just look up "EvC Forum: Scientific vs Creationist Frauds and hoaxes" and see what you get. Keep in mind the forum invites people to submit possible scientific hoaxes as well as clear things up on claimed hoaxes like Piltdown Man and Nebraska Man. Also I couldn't tell from your comment whether or not you watched the video I recommended to you but if you did I would like to know what you made of it's claims/points.

  • @swordhunter12 I watched all his videos, and there are things I strongly disagree on, there are hundreds of videos like this, that's why I can't comment all of them. Also there are hundreds of Forums like the one you pointed out, and people can't waste that much time debunking all of them. His video is short, but he summarizes all the points he makes in his video series. He gives all the needed information on all those things in his 7 Creation Seminars.

  • Fair enough it's obvious that we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I still feel that Creationism is flawed though. As I said in Flood Facts Even if everything Hovind says in his creation minute videos turned out to be true that wouldn't matter because none of these things prove that the universe was the result of divine creation. I think Eric needs to stop trying to prove what the bible says for two reasons.

  • Continued: The first reason is that proving the great flood or a young universe may suggest that creationism is true but it won't actually prove it. To quote AronRa "You know what we've never seen? We've never seen anything created. We've never seen any complex system or lifeform just pop into existence". To prove creation you would have to observe it and that's why Evolution is considered science and Creationism is not.

  • Continued 2: There are thousands of examples of Evolution and most of the so called hoaxes of Evolution were exposed by Evolutionary Scientists and some were misunderstood or exaggerated (for example: Haeckel was indeed correct in what he said about embryos it's his drawings that were flawed. Today we use similar, more accurate micro photos), and any attempt to disprove that these fossils were transitional has been refuted (some creationists claim archaeopteryx was just a bird but no bird has

  • Conclusion: ever been found to have teeth that I know of. Others claim it's 100% dinosaur but the only other flying dinosaurs I know of are pterosaurs and there wings were not like bird wings whereas Archaeopteryx's were). I can live with someone believing in Creationism (though I'll never truly understand why) but trying to pass it off as science is where I draw the line. Anyway I've gone on long enough so I'll end it there for now. Thank you for your time.

  • @robotroid You're sure, eh? Thats funny, because he CAN'T, because he is just mindlessly repeating the BS his lying, fraudulent father brainwashed him with. Every Hovind "argument" was torn to shreds long ago, yet creationists continue repeating them and you only provide more evidence that creationists truly are mindless sheep.

  • @DarthServo There will be a heaven. And there will be an accounting of all words said by every individual. And when you are going to be sentenced to hell, it wouldn't matter what it is that you thought we were. So I wouldn't waste my time here on youtube if I were you, but look into more important things.

  • @robotroid Ah, when you get slaughtered in intellectual discourse, just threaten your opponent with damnation. Yeah, THATS never been tried before. This so eloquently illustrates why you and other creationists are morons and an embarrassment to the rest of Christianity. "Agree with me or burn forever" even though biblical literalism died centuries ago. But by all means, continue worshiping a book that features talking animals rather than actually thinking about God.

  • @robotroid The irony is so thick, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Its the HOVINDS that are the proven liars and frauds. You are helping to spread their falsehoods. Yet I'm supposedly the one going to hell for simply pointing out their lies. That is some seriously twisted and morally bankrupt theology you have there.

  • @robotroid When you have to resort to threats, it means your argument failed.

  • Comment removed

  • @robotroid Hovind can't back up anything he says ! The earth's magnetic field has flipped many time in the past, Eric is wrong to say it is getting weaker and then extrapolate back 25,000 years.

Geology proves there was no global flood and the earth is old.

Nuclear Chemists say the earth is 4,545 Million years old [+ or - 2 million years] not evolutionists.

  • Amen I coundnt agree more

  • thanks ! :)

  • for what?

  • for creative video upload, truth. paldies! :)
