If you look at the replay Turkey was not even the first guy to try to take his head off. Another player was trying to rip his head off using the facemask. Then for some reason Turkey Joins in on the fun.
I know Turkey got fined 20k but did the other guy get some heat too? Two guys for some reason trying to tear a dudes head off. Weird.
I guess Detroits Suh/Jake Delomme was not that big a deal in comparison.
@goblin072 Turley IS the first guy on Robinson. Once he gets a hold of Robinson's facemask, he never lets go, even after being dragged five yards upfield. #22 should have given up the helmet, because it was coming off, with or without his head in it.
hahahah, Jets got OWNED. Turley is like a freakin ancient era Viking. Don't mess with the Vikings. About 5 seconds into that Robinson was probably thinking his move was a bad idea. Best video on youtube in about 2 years.
Before this season and many plays that took us to the SuperBowl, this was one of my all time favorite Saints moments. I soooo remember this game and this moment. I was a HUGE Turley fan!!!!! Good post!
I was watching Hard Knocks from a couple of years ago when they did the Kansas City Chiefs and Herman Edwards, who was the coach at KC during that time, talked about how he loved Turley sticking up for his quarterback. Turley said Brooks was "screeching like a little girl" while he was getting his head twisted and nothing on earth could've stopped him from getting to Robison to return the favor. Robison was being a bitch and Kyle T is now famous and/or infamous for having his quarterbacks back.
Typical o-line temperament, you don't touch my QB. Ever. Kyle Turley just put the exclamation on it. Good for him. The Jets player could've easily injured the Saints QB and he deserved what he got from Turley.
Jets won the game but Kyle Turley won the fight...and became a legend in the Saints organzation. I do not think the New Orleans Saints and the Jets will ever play a game again with out his name being mention.
Robinson was a garbage player who was known for taking cheap shots in the pile. I know of several Jets fans who couldn't stand Robinson. What Robinson did to Brooks on this play was something he was known in the league for. Turley just was the one who finally stood up to the punk.
Kyle Turley is the man. I wasn't a football fan when this happened so although I've seen clips of him throwing the helmet, I never knew why. Seeing what that clown was doing to Brooks, I have a new-found for respect for Brooks.
The dude is a bad ass!!! I would have him back in New Orleans anytime for anything. He would have killed that fucker if they were alone in a phone booth. He would make the Hells Angels proud!
Kyle Turley is the spirit of the City incarnated. I will never ever forget watching him that Monday night and that fervor! I swear he was as much a part of the success as any SAINT His action, THAT action, made almost every Who DAT so proud that HE IS A SAINT. He is SAINT ONE in my book. One bad hombre...Love ya, Big Kyle...
I will tell all you people dissing on Aaron Brooks, that he maynot be a Drew Brees, but he was much much better than Shuler, Hobert, and that fucking John Fourcade that were all QB's after Bobby Hebert was traded to Atlanta. Brooks still holds the #2 top career passing yards in Saints history, Drew Brees will break it eventually, but come on, the guy was'nt as good as Brees, but he was pretty good at one time.
@GaryNumanAlbums He was great that season. that was the year they made the playoffs and beat the rams. Once Aaron got a contract extension and a big paycheck he started to suck. he needed to be benched once he sstarted throwing the ball backward then laughing about it on the sidelines. Jake Dellhome sitting on the bench...
I remember seeing that thinking wtf was this guy trying to do, kill brooks? People whine about a few late hits from the Saints in this years playoff games, but this was insanity.
Kyle was totally justified, he was protecting his man and got rightfully angry at Robison.
I don't think any Saints fans need to be saying Brooks wasn't worth protecting or dissing him. True, he's no Drew Brees....no Bobby Hebert even, but he played his best and did help the Saints win their first playoff game.
Kyle Turley was awesome. He didn't give a shit about what the corporate dicks running the NFL wanted. I am looking forward to seeing his band open for Hank III.
it's true that 2 wrongs don't make a right, yet i will always defend kyle turley's actions that game. he went above and beyond the call of duty for his job.
I've been respecting this guy since I was in the single-digits of age, watching the Saints games. He was a real part of the New Orleans community and participated in many local commercials I'd always see on TV. I always wondered what happened to him, and I just found out today what his full name is in order to find out what happened over these years.
This simply gave me even more respect for him, defending his QB. I wish he could play for the Saints again, but his injuries kept him out.
Damien Robinson deserved every bit of that. Turley would have ripped that helmet off even if Robinson's head was still inside of it and no one would have blamed him. That was a dirty, dirty play on Brooks.
I am glad you posted this. I remember this game very well and always was a fan of Turley. I think while many think he over-reacted, it was that attitude that made him sp respectable and so feared around the league.
@DakotaPunk Oh, and I'm a Jets fan and STILL love this play and Kyle Turley. Play the game with passion and brutality or don't play at all. Ten years later and it is still a defining moment in football; no one can deny that! Props to you for putting it to this music, it makes all the more awesome!
Man I remember listening to this at work that night and I was cheering Kyle on before I even saw what happened. After I saw it, I couldn't stop laughing at how much momentum he had when he threw the helmet and it went BACKWARDS. It still makes me LMAO. I think this was a nationally televised game and the Saints never fail to put on a show for the national audience. Something crazy always happen.
good ole' kyle turley lol, he was exciting to watch wen he lost his temper lol. but that piec of shit brooks aint worth protectin. he was the worse qb the saints ever had. dat fucker
Turley gained the city's respect bigtime for this. The true sad thing was that piece of garbage Aaron Brooks, who he took up for, didn't take up for him!

I used to protect my guys in basketball. as the center, I saw it as my job. I totally see where KT is coming from. with that said, thanks for the game kyle !!!
Coolest shit ever. That classless shit from the jets will not be tolerated. IDK what happened to the guy who did that to brooks but he should have been fined, that was cleary after the play, dude was trying to break his neck.
Bet he'll think twice before doing that garbage again. Turley threw him around like a rag doll.

kyle turlys brother was my p.e coach at canyon springs high school in mo-val california. he was in the right. the other guy was a stupid piece of shit
rjep16.. Turley was a bad ass indeed, but he just followed in the footsteps of former DE and hall of famer Doug Atkins. After games at old Tulane Stadium,Atkins used to cruise Airline Hwy and look for motorcycles parked outside of bars.Atkins would then go inside and start fights with gang members.
i just read the article too, very good story, i hope NFL players read the article and realize what's in storage for them. Very scary. Anyways, great video shitty as music.
A lot of people are all of a sudden posting after the story about Turleys' battle with Vertigo in Yahoo! After this incident Turley was going to be cut by the Saints head coach until he saw what Turley was responding to!!!
What do you mean crappy music? This was the misfits back when they had Danzig, this stuff was and is still great. As for the saints I'm a Buccaneers fan, but I used to like Aaron Brooks, Deuce Mcallister (I actually met him) and Joe Horn. Turley gained my respect after watching this and great choice of music. 5 stars!
i rememberr b eing at this game all the fans were not mad at kyle he was jus mad robinson was about to take arrons head off i was glad he protected him like that this was the best team effort the whole year
Thats cool, I remember his brother and dad...His brother was a star basketball player in high school...Valley View High School, in Moreno Valley Ca.....
Kyle was my wrestling partner, he actually was the first guy to show me how to wrestle on the mat.....He was never a dick...just competative!!!...I miss those days, I miss Kyle.....and now I teach my son how to wrestle, he' s only 6 though....We started at 160 lbs..Imagine that,Turley wrestling at 160 lbs...Kyle was a good student too..
My old offensive line coach Leo Brouhard (R.I.P.) told me that he used to coach football in California and was Turleys line coach. I remember him telling me that Turley wasn't more than about 210-220 lbs his senior year! This was in '04 when Turley was still around 280-300 and before he lost alot of weight. Turley is an undisputed badass!
Did you notice what Robinson was doing to Brooks? I fucking hated that Saints team. I hated Jim Haslett and still do. But Turley going insane because somebody was attempting to break his QB's neck? I'll never fault an offensive lineman for that. Robinson didn't get nearly what he deserved.
turley was always a hardass....but never really an asshole. damien robinson has always been an asshole, he can't even get along with his own teammates.
looking like braveheart!

5 stars!

Who won?

the barely jets won....turley's penalty made it hard to comeback. this happened in the last couple minutes of the game....great game though

thanks

Did they reject turley from that team after what he did?
TheSoheilak 2 years ago
Did you notice what Robinson was doing to Brooks? I fucking hated that Saints team. I hated Jim Haslett and still do. But Turley going insane because somebody was attempting to break his QB's neck? I'll never fault an offensive lineman for that. Robinson didn't get nearly what he deserved.

at first it looked like he was going to get cut.....but after the team and fans stood behind him....they kept him. :)
the saints supposedly sold out of turley jerseys within days of this happening....that's how much the fans liked what he did

Wow!
