@panzerdiv Yeah, isn't that weird? I'm totally the same. I can listen to the same freaking DT song or album over and over and not get sick of it. Never before has that occurred with any other artist.
I'm going to see him at Soundwave Revolution, can't say i've ever anticipated a musician or band so much before. Gojira and Devin; a Treat to the ears that could break more frail people! Fffffff-yeah.
@FEARTTX Hey yeah, and now that Revolution has been cancelled, we get Gojira and Devin next year, plus Dillinger Escape Plan. It all worked out in the end, apparently.
I heard 3 times the entire album yesterday and 2 today. Besides I listened like 10 times this song, I just LOVE HIM! The first time i ended this album I almost cried.
"And the greys float our memories, in the long haul...."
Genius! Also, he played all the instruments by himself!! (Except the drums, that was a computer :P)
@MadeInMexicoL0L Hey just because pirates of the caribean 3 went in the same series as the first 2, doesn't mean everyone will like it equally with the other 2.
I like Color Your World a little more than this song, though I love everything under Devin's name so far.
@Badshy for the most part, its one guy XD if not all him since i know he only recently started bringing in people to help him. Pretty sure he did this entire album by himself.
MadeinMexico:Glad I read your comment about checking out The Greys after listening to Color Your World. Actually, I think this song is better and would have more hits if people gave it a chance or even knew about it at all.
@MadeInMexicoL0L Thanks a lot for suggesting this song, only been listening to this guy for about a year, wading through his seemingly endless library of work is tough, I don't instantly connect with all of it but I find jewels like this here and there, this is now one of my fav's....nice1
gotta say i only knew about the devin townsend proj and syl( for years) till like a hour ago but ziltoid is bomb devin townsend is a god umong musicians -and you gotta love him that much more because hes CANADIAN !
I have one theory though, I love this song, singing is amazing in it.
My theory is that the start of Color your World with the blast beats puts people off the song. It did for me, it just didn't catch my attention so I would skip, thing is it is a long song so it changes for the better. This album should really be listened to in order to get its humour and change throughout!
I didn't like Townsend but this song is so awesome that it's being played the last 1.5 hour nonstop.Respect, it's so bittersweet it brings back memories.Easily could be the soundtrack of life(or imagine watching the earth from afar and listening to this song)
The way he says "Stay away from the unknown" at the start almost makes the song sound like a folk tale or parable with the guitar chords. Especially when ur sufferin from anxiety and you cant stay away from all the crap that freaks you out.
i metal hammer on the metal detector they said avoid this album..tis his best 1.they said it was a man pissin about in his studio for his own amusement.......true but it is still fukin epic!
@jamiepollington Did they even listen to it? lol. It sounds like they heard one song, thought it was stupid and said avoid. This song and Hyperdrive are worth the price alone, and the rest of the songs still kick ass. I think this record and Addicted are the best stuff he's done yet.
why do people always diss on dev's S.Y.L work his work with S.Y.L was great yeah it didnt sound like any thing hes made with DTB or DTP but it was great the instrumentals were great as well as the vocals i guess im so found of it cause i love death metal, black metal, thrash, etc but i still love Devins work as odd as it is even though Black metal is my fav genre my favorite artist to listen to is dev with S.Y.L DTB and DTP because there all great in there own respect and trump any artist
I love the feedback and harmonics in the opening part, reminds me of another amazing song of his, Funeral. Devin is one of a kind! Wish I could ive this 10/5 stars
Well, a grey is the name for the Roswell aliens, you know, the gray, hairless slender folks with black almond eyes. I think that it has something to do with the alien/cosmic theme of this album.
His lyrics are too abstract. Devin himself says that listeners should take whatever they like from his lyrics. Personally that's one of the main reasons I like him.
I agree. I mean, to me the lines "it's the greys again, I know, I know, it's a sinister game they play, I know, I know" symbolize a grey area in your mind or life, whereas someone else could probably take it as a reference to the aliens known as the greys. It all depends on your outlook on life.
Then again, I'm quite drunk, so that could just be me. :P
Greys are a type of alien...but the song seems to delve into something from Devin's personal life ...so the grey aliens are symbolic for something ....I could be completely wrong
i would allways like to comment your videos ;) when i am probably one of the biggest DT fanst in the world! And it´ s funny, he are able to win Metalheads hearts by making such tunes! It is heavy! but most of his music are so much else than that! it´ s not just heavy, It´ s Devy :D
Just one of the most beautiful and magic thing i've ever heard...Devin is my father, Devin is my god, And he come back this summer guys with 4 differents albums...AND HE IS THE BOSS OF THE UNIVERSE ! Devdamn !

This was an epic break up song for me. So I guess it can go that route as well.
I fell even harder when she said it reminded her of us.
She was older than me and probably more intelligent- I was kinda shy and clumsy- so I could see some little tokens in the lyrics that kinda fit.
