@PivotalThinking Sorry to interrupt, but animals, too, are much much more than "just animals" :-))
You'd be amazed how close our thinking/ideas are to those of a pigeon or a dog if you studied etology or cognitive psychology. We differ from animals little in how we learn apart from Pavlov's "Tertiary Signalling System" & structured language which makes consciousness (or "analog self") possible.
To understand & love ourselves we need to appreciate complexity & wisdom of our animal selves, too.
ThanXs for your comment, however it has been removed due to distasteful & excessive language. Though your message was sound, your delivery was terrible. Curious; do you really believe with such an aggressive approach you can convinced anyone of your point. If you are a Christian, than ask yourself what Jesus would say, had he been beside you. Please feel free to comment again but respectfully leave your adverse commentary at the door.
So back when humans were borderline human/ape were those "humans" considered animals or human beings. What is the cutoff point for sentience? I guess my point is you cannot say animals or humans go to either heaven, hell, or some afterlife based on whether if the entity is sentient/intelligent/conscious or not because there is not an absolute definition of sentience.
Unfortunately and unfathomably, the sciences in general are extremely reluctant in considering the obvious and accurate spiritual reality which encompasses a world, a society which adopts the skepticism as an ideology to be followed. LIFE IS MUCH MORE THAN WHAT OUR CARNAL EYES AND ANY OTHER PARTY OF THE PHYSICAL BODY ARE CAPABLE OF VISUALISING AND FEELING! It is pitful that the majority of the scients cannot definitely consider these facts as being the emancipation of the soul, of the SPIRIT!
The biggest question I have is, if any religion is true with the traditional western civilization interpretation of the afterlife (heaven and hell), why is it not the case that 100% people who are deemed clinically dead have near-death experiences? Plenty of people are deemed clinically dead, only to come back but not notice a thing, no story or anything. It seems that under such an afterlife system, there would be no exceptions, if you died, you went to either heaven or hell.
Wow. I'm glad to now that I'm not the only one that experienced exactly what is described here. I went out 3 times and can tell anybody watching this that THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE and REAL! I would love to make contact with these people. Thank you for this video!
Humans have everything if not more incommon with animals, there is no scientific doubt at all that we are animals, and how do you account for people who have died and experienced NOTHING and therefor stopped believing in god and start believing in humanity?
i can account these things with very complex psycology.
its interesting though, hope you find the time to answer :)
if this is true, this is remarkable. i mean when i watched the story about a financial man, i got this sense of happiness for him and respect. this is a tv documentary anyways so i take a very skeptical viewpoint on this but if this is true, it is the greatest thing in the world, not to be afraid of death anymore.
Very good video, im personally an Atheist and usually dont believe in these sort of stuff, but they made some valid points and im open minded to everything..
But my biggest problem with this is, Why should we be special?
i can't find a single reason why we should be... We are just animals, i see a human like a bunch of cells, noot a complete structure..
So can anyone answer me, why should we be special`?
@JollSSteR Try not to think so materialistically and it might help. Cells are made of atoms, which are made of smaller particles, which are made out of light, which is both a wave and a particle, as they said in the video, if at that level, we can have access to all knowledge and be able to be in two places at once, then anything is possible if we can think it into being. Look into quantum physics, we create our own reality.
@Riffnspliff I cant see how this proves why we are special, can you pls demonstrate why humans have more of these small particles in them than for example blue wales or elephants?
If your statement is true then surely the bigger you are the more worthy of heaven you are. ( i might have misunderstodd you. )
@JollSSteR Yes you did lol. We don't know that animals don't have the same kind of experiences as us, just on a lower level of consciousness. Everything is the same thing, everything is consciousness, everything is me and you, I am you, you are me.I believe its just a matter of going through cycles of life/physical existence, until you find out what its all about and move on to the next level of existence/being. Which instead of taking in light and information, we become the light and knowledge
@JollSSteR Basically just learn as much as you can and be extremely open minded, and you will find answers. What you believe will shape this life, and more so your after life.If you believe when you die, that you'll go to heaven, or hell, that's where you'll go.But if you are open to everything you could avoid that and be one step ahead,be able to visit heaven, hell and every other place created by us,and tell people that there's more to it.That there are an infinite # of dimensions to experience.
@Riffnspliff ... You actually gave me the impression of extreme none understanding about openmindedness Riff... for me to be open minded is NOT the same as me accepting your dogmatic world view, to be open minded is to see everything from a skeptic point of view, and religion cant stand skepticism the least, i am open minded, and ill accept any world view that is supported by evidence, However even after this i dont think youll understand what open mindedness is..
@JollSSteR Sry, I didn't say that you weren't open minded. And open mindedness is about being able to accept things, yet still be able to search for more truth, more knowledge. But knowledge is never more important than intuition, intuition comes from within where all knowledge lies. All religions hold a little truth, but none are completely correct. I'm not talking mumbo jumbo, this is all according to quantum mechanics. I'm not telling you to accept this either, I'm just planting seeds.
@JollSSteR I'm not a theist man, and you really need to watch some stuff on quantum theory and out of body experiences. it makes the whole picture start to come together
@Riffnspliff Sure if i come over anything good, but this one wasnt even scienctific, they didnt seem to have a clue about what they were talking about, they just made up a theory that the consciousness lies inside atoms, which is totally unrealistic and just a guess, i cant see why rocks dont have a consciousness if what they say is true.
@JollSSteR Basically it's not that we are or create consciousness, but that our bodies are receivers of consciousness. Like a radio receiving signals. The physical body has nothing to do with it, we just happen to be at the right wave lengths to be the best receivers of consciousness, obviously animals are conscious, but on a lower level, and maybe rocks are conscious, just on an extremely low level, an extremely low vibration. We vibrate fairly high, so we receive consciousness much better.
@JollSSteR No it's not up to me lol, it's up to you, the only way you can prove this stuff is by experiencing it. Try to have a few out of body experiences and you will be much closer to knowing what truth is. Remember this, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just is. Our souls don't die, and they're never born, it's a continuous cycle of existence on different planes of reality and different dimensions. I don't know everything about it yet, but that's why we're here to experience it!
@Riffnspliff Ok so either i believe that something as complex as the mind was built with trillions of triumphing cells throughout billions of years and made the human brain, which can fool us sometimes with fake experiences, or i believe in your fairy tale that somehing as complex as a mind cant be destroyed, just like something as simple and basic as energy cant.
So far im gonna stick with the realistic one :P
( the mind is to complex for fitting in your story )
@JollSSteR "If one isn't astounded and amazed by quantum physics, then one does not yet understand it" A quote by a physicist who works in the field. Remember when I compared our bodies to a radio? If the radio is broken, it's not going to pick up the signal. Most people these days are walking zombies, and are just barely connected with the field, due to poor health, brainwashing ect. Have you ever heard of a fractal? The universe works on the principles of fractalization.
@Riffnspliff Every part of the picture or equation, contains the entire picture or equation, so it's completely infinite, as is the universe and our minds. Think of this, in this life, we conceive our brains to be the creator of thought and knowledge ect, but how is it possible that a material thing like our brain created such an amazing immaterial thing like thoughts and feelings? Each one of us has OBEs frequently during deep sleep, just like dreams, we don't recall much. Practice remembering!
@Riffnspliff Well i agree with you here, that the brain cant possibly create something immeterial, therefor the thoughts are material, SINCE its impossible for something materialistic to create something immeterial..
@JollSSteR Oh gosh...that wasn't my point at all, my point was that the mind is NOT material, the brain has nothing to do with the creation of though. We know this because there is really no such thing as "matter" or "material objects" this was proved over 100 years ago, but has not been taught to our children, because our leaders want us dumbed down. All "matter" is comprised of waves of energy, they only become "things" and "objects" when we perceive them. Look up the double slit experiment.
@Riffnspliff You know what i mean, materialistic = something that is made out of matter /atoms, is that study about proving that something that is made out of atoms can produce something that is not made out of matter/ information =?
@JollSSteR See, that's what you have to understand here. Atoms are made out of 99.999% empty space, and the rest is just energy, there is nothing material to it. The study is about how things are created by our observing it. It'll take too long to explain, look up a youtube video about it. Atoms only exist because we observe them, as with protons neutrons ect. When not being perceived, they are just Quanta, potential energy yet to be set free with the help of consciousness.
@JollSSteR right em dont listen to w/e load of religous crap that was, truth be were not, there were other creatures there, remember they guy said he spoke to a horse? AYE and there were plants and trees so :p
Rationality leads us to believe that we are simply evolved animals, for that is what we can perceive. And it is true, we are; as far as our human body goes. But we are human BEINGS and we are 'special' because we are intelligent beings. We have a self-consciousness beyond other animals because each human carries with it a god spark, an individual soul that chooses to incarnate into a grossly limited life for the experience, which ultimately leads to our soul's evolution.
What makes you think animals go to a hell? I see hell as simply a self-appointed time-out for the sins you commited during life - to learn from, before the next incarnation. Since animals don't have the level of conciousness we do, they act simply out of instinct and can commit no sins. The fact that you can THINK about the consequences of your actions alone separates you from the rest of the animal kingdom.
The soul being disproven means nothing. The earth was once flat...
@SportZ114 What do you think happens to a fly when you kill it?
Probably you think it just loses its conssiousness, it would be cool to be special but we are not being that live forever.
We die.
Get over it.
It would indeed matter if i could disprove the soul, if i could prove it you'd be crawling through glas to see it, it's uncomfortable to listen to evidence that are against your world view.
@JollSSteR: Its not about being special. Everything is connected to form that singular entity that many call god. What I believe is, we are just bits and pieces of a puzzle trying to figure out what the big picture looks like. Some of us even get a glyphs of that picture and that is when their lives changes. It can happen to a human, a bird or a rock. In the end its all the same, connected with the same force. We should be open to the ideas that there is something more to life then logic.
@JollSSteR ..so what you're saying is we're not special because we are aware? would we be special if we ceased to exist? ..probably no, in your views.. because then we would just be lumped in with all the other non-existing things..which would make us again, not special.. right? I'm trying to figure out why you would think we aren't special.. we are magnificent beings with unlimited potential.. this doesn't weigh in at all with you?
i cant see why we should be special, let me put it like this.
if what makes us special ( that we are alive ) is what gives us an afterlife then EVERY single animal, ants, dogs, bees, and maybe even cells will also have an afterlife.
the person who thinks smartness is what gets us to heaven then that person is arrogant, look at what we are doing to each other and to the earth.
being a bluewhale and swimming around in peace should get u to heaven.
@JollSSteR the potential of the human being is great.regardless of intent we can create and destroy in a way that no other animal is capable of doing! Our intelligence is the thing that makes us special but of course we are really only special to ourselves!
@123456wasp here is my problem with that, 1. All animals are special in that sentence, you cant say that bluewhales go to heaven just because they are big, i would want something more meaningful than that we are capable of building lamps or computers x)
i need something really deap and poetic here :P
2. we are made of the same stuff as all other animals, unless ive missed something.
@JollSSteR your first mistake is your looking for a heaven ,There is no god there is no devil there is no hell or heaven. Its a fairytale and if you believe in a fairytale then until you realize how stupid it is to look for what can get into heaven, I can only surmise that you would not be able to understand the reality of the world .We are all related to all the other living organisms that evolved on this planet with us,With our intelligence we are suppose to look after the planet for all of us
@123456wasp Yeah i agree, but people who still make up fairy tales arnt stuid, it represents a human need, we need to make up bullsht to feel good about ourselves.
But my question was more like, why is our speciality a better way to heaven (if you believe in heaven) than for example being able to fly, or brainwash ants or anything els.
@JollSSteR what makes us special. We are special in our own minds,we invented religion because unlike other animals we have a understanding of our mortality we invent a comfortable afterlife with good place to go and a bad place togo,to comfort our fears of death,We made God in our image so we can be like god,no other thing is close to god like us.We lie to ourselves to make our selves feel more comfrotable and important that we really are.We lie to ourselves when we think we are special!
"But my biggest problem with this is, Why should we be special?"
This is an age old question everyone soon eventually asks; I too once wrestled with this long ago. We are Gods greatest creation; wonderfully and fearfully made in his image. Before the fall of man, God walked with man and God will walk with Man again in the end. This is His Plan.
One point that may help is to stop thinking of man as animals. We are much more & we have yet to realize our potential.
@PivotalThinking Why do you say that with such certainty when you don't know any more than anyone else? You use the demeanour of someone answering questions when you're just creating more questions.
So far there is no evidence that we are anything "more" than animals, our behaviour is in line with what is expected of intelligent social primates
Some books that people wrote to make other people feel better shouldn't be taken so literally. You're afraid of admitting you don't have all the answers
@PivotalThinking we are animals. The only thing that makes us special is that we label and categorize things and compute with our brain. No one ever said that animals other than humans can't have Near Death Experiences. People thinking they are special is just a part of the human delusion. We think we are special, because our brain is the most powerful and we live the longest and we're king of the jungle basically.
@PivotalThinking I see this as a cop out. When I consider the endless complexities of nature, the beauties of which we cannot understand, quantum mechanics, the infinitely huge expanses of space and all that the wider world has to offer - I find it offensive and limiting that we should strap that all down as "God's" and conform it's nature to that of ours; saying it's made by a "man" in the sky. Why must there be order to beauty?
@JollSSteR Even animals and plants have souls (energetic fields around) Dont disconsidere any simple thing of this Universe, Everything is part of a Whole Unity and intercomunicated. You are right. We dont have more value than an animal or a plant. I believe we are all equal objects of Love.
@SuperAlaska2011 You guys really confuse me, xD some of you say that nonhuman animals do not have souls, well, i guess your opinions are so unique on these objects that i cant truly understand what everyone thinks on the matter.
Well, one thing we can agree on is the importance of love, although i think we consumers will never know what true love is.
I am genuinely interested in responses to this: If our individuality exists outside the brain, then how do we explain cases like Phineas Gage, a patient whose personality was completely altered by brain trauma? After a spike blew through the personality center of his cortex, he was completely changed--He went from nice and courteous to rude and childish. If who you are cannot even survive during life, then how could it survive the total death of the brain? Where did the first Phineas go?
@kjg28 One of the ideas that I'm pondering at the moment is that there exists a consciousness or life force. This consciousness can enter a body before birth to experience life. The particular life it experiences depends on the particular body and brain that it enters. It's experiences are moulded by and also limited to the particular physical body that it enters. Think of this: this would be a good system for something with infinite longevity, otherwise imagine how unbearable infinity would be.
In order to simply verify a positive NDE or out of body experience simple tests within the surgery room must be utilized. Surgeries such as the ones Pam Reynolds under went could easily be falsified if she fails to give characteristics to an unknown object within a box that is closed before the operation but opened as it undergoes. If a person is unconscious and can verify the object NDE can possibly exist. The blind women's story can sound convincing though she is only missing 1 of the -
Think of Earth as a school, this is a huge big learning experience..when your body dies its your choice if you want to come back..if there is still things you want to do..or you can take on some other physicality....you can go to these place any time you want to learn and understand..it DOES NOT have to be a near death experience...search "Robert Monroe"..its very real
What would be interesting would be if we knew whether she was blinded by an eye defect, or if the eye is working fine but the problem's in the brain. If her blindness originates in the brain it rules out the theory of the brain producing vision for her.
I think calling my last statement 'utterly unfounded' is quite a crushing comment. To say 'your last statement has one big problem' is more polite. Still I see your point. Don't forget though that people born without limbs can still be born with 'phantom limbs' despite never having known what limbs feel like - it's hard wired into a 'map' on the surface of their brain.
I just use that example to compare to the point I was making. It would be much harder with vision, if not impossible.
@PivotalThinking i don't see what the fact that she's been blind from birth has to do with whether or not it's an ocular defect, neurological problem etc, in her vision. catherine raises the question of where her vision is ceasing to function, not whether or her eyes are capable of seeing. the point she was raising is that if you can prove for instance that the parts of her brain are incapable of interpreting vision, them perhaps it's proof of the "transmission" of consciousness theory raised...
He seeks out videos like this and bullies and harasses commenters - and then refusies to reply to them or have further discussion if they make a point that threatens his beliefs.
Unlike other similar posters he never gives up and will continue to post such comments even if nobody rises to the bait, until somebody does, and then attacks them, or comments on people's comments that were not directed at him.
Check out "NDE the day I died consciousness documentary" especially parts 1 and 2
i saw long time ago on tv something similar ,..and some people {Clinical death} had seen and feel the other way of good ...evil....i,m gonna search on internet about it
Too many issues in something unique as life and death to try and figure out.But we are made to wonder, thankfully, 'cause otherwise it would be boring. hehe :P
After watching this I have come to the conclusion the brain is just a reciever of thought... that is monitored by something else above us... be it Aliens or a god... Like we are test subjects possibly... This movie has definately moved me emotionally in many ways, everything added up to a light and a journey towards it leading to a judgement or past relatives... It leads me to believe religion means very little and it isn't about who/what you worship or believe in. but of what you do in life.
Well this video contains no evidence or prove that the near dead experience is not an illusion. Science works by very strict rules. And witnesses are not a prove in the scientical method of approaching a certain situation. So you need to be very critical with this kind of subjects! I'm sorry for my poor english, I hope you get the message out of this!
I've been so crazy busy these last few months that I'm slacking in my return comments. I can't believe I missed your post.
Nevertheless, lets get down to brass tax. I'm glad to see that the video moved you into "PivotalThnking" after all that's what this channel is all about.
What you wrote above is half right. It isn't about religion at all; Christ told us not to do as the Pharasis did, who were the religious teachers of the law in His time.
He said: "I am the way, the truth & the light, no one comes unto the Father except by me."
The wages of Sin is death and Jesus took yours and my place as our redeemer and then died for us.
It has everything to do with what you believe in because you are not saved by your works but by believing that Jesus was the Son of God and repenting to Him with a meaningful heart.
It a life long journey, and we all fall short but we learn from it and do better each day.
@WTFZOMGIMSOFCKDBBQ if i were a lab rat, i wudnt want to play the game along, i'd wanna escape and bite the bastard scientists that put me in that crazy thing! but rather escape and run ofcourse, coz going for revenge'll just get( me killed or put back in the damn maze again :D
The science magazin nature has so far been able to explain everything to do with death experience in a materialistic way to a certain extent as far as I know.
Two main reasons I find this documentary vary compelling is one: because of the lady who has been blind from birth & has never seen anything, not even black.
The second is of the lady who's brain was stopped entirely for an operation & monitored. It tackles the argument that people only see things because the brain is dieing. Two very hard occurrences to give an explanation for. One could accept it though for the obvious.
According to nature, no such thing ever happend. And I couldn't find any reports of it outside this documentary either. Experiments have been done where patients were asked to recall symbols that they couldn't otherwise have seen. They couldn't recall them.
How could the blind women recognize that what she saw where people and trees, if she has never seen before?
She probably just had hallucinations of what she imagined they would look like or something.
I find the documentary slightly biased since they don't interview anyone who is opposed to the idea that there is no such thing as a soul or whatever, after they have presented this aparently strong evidence for it. They should really have shown someone elses opinion on this. Like that lady they interviewed earlier.
Like PT says there is some amazing stories here that's hard to blow off.
But I understand what you are saying AA. There are people that have gone through the same surgeries and says they never experienced anything.... I'd like to see interviews with them as well.
Thanks PT for this documentary. Give one something to seriously think about.
Re. symbols, there are lots of things you wouldn't see while you are "dead"--you don't see everything. There are also things you would see, and hear: the woman Pam heard a one of the medical staff say, "We have a problem: her arteries are too small" while her brain was clinically dead (and not just on the threshold of death).
Regarding blindness: it seems reasonable to infer that if human-like communication is coming from an object you've never seen before, then that object is probably what a human being must look like.
Regarding the bias: False. They interviewed Dr. Susan Blackmore, a psychologist, physicist, and materialist. She argued that NDEs occur on the threshold of clinical death, not during it.
...sad and hadn't accepted she had to pass over. i then did some healing with a friend and i connected with her and he father came over to take her over.
sometimes i have the most lucid dreams when i am flying and moving through buildings. i once dreamt that i met up with a deceased friend in her old healthy state before she secumed to cancer. i could smell her perfume and i asked her telepathically "dont you feel the love?" ad i meant on the other side and she told me telepathically that she didn't. she was so ..
well that sucks! i'dont want the people to be made of light when i die! i want them to be sexy just like on earth = /

Thanks for posting this documentary, it was pretty unbiased, though your interpretations definitely were not.

I love how in the description it says "unbiased"
Oh yeah, that's why it made the opinions of all of the medical experts seem irrelevant to the OPINIONS of PATIENTS who were under sedatives, ect.
Unbiased doesn't mean, fits my views perfectly, it means doesn't have a suggestion one way or the other.
I wanna see more people of different beliefs who went through this.
This entire documentary just wreaks of Christianity.

Everything is the same thing, everything is consciousness, everything is me and you, I am you, you are me.I believe its just a matter of going through cycles of life/physical existence, until you find out what its all about and move on to the next level of existence/being. Which instead of taking in light and information, we become the light and knowledge
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@JollSSteR Basically just learn as much as you can and be extremely open minded, and you will find answers. What you believe will shape this life, and more so your after life.If you believe when you die, that you'll go to heaven, or hell, that's where you'll go.But if you are open to everything you could avoid that and be one step ahead,be able to visit heaven, hell and every other place created by us,and tell people that there's more to it.That there are an infinite # of dimensions to experience.
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff ... You actually gave me the impression of extreme none understanding about openmindedness Riff... for me to be open minded is NOT the same as me accepting your dogmatic world view, to be open minded is to see everything from a skeptic point of view, and religion cant stand skepticism the least, i am open minded, and ill accept any world view that is supported by evidence, However even after this i dont think youll understand what open mindedness is..
I am open minded :P SOOO.. ye
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR Sry, I didn't say that you weren't open minded. And open mindedness is about being able to accept things, yet still be able to search for more truth, more knowledge. But knowledge is never more important than intuition, intuition comes from within where all knowledge lies. All religions hold a little truth, but none are completely correct. I'm not talking mumbo jumbo, this is all according to quantum mechanics. I'm not telling you to accept this either, I'm just planting seeds.
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff well i alrdy knew all this,, but thanx for trying to explain cause i REALLY cant understand you theists xD
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR I'm not a theist man, and you really need to watch some stuff on quantum theory and out of body experiences. it makes the whole picture start to come together
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff Sure if i come over anything good, but this one wasnt even scienctific, they didnt seem to have a clue about what they were talking about, they just made up a theory that the consciousness lies inside atoms, which is totally unrealistic and just a guess, i cant see why rocks dont have a consciousness if what they say is true.
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR Basically it's not that we are or create consciousness, but that our bodies are receivers of consciousness. Like a radio receiving signals. The physical body has nothing to do with it, we just happen to be at the right wave lengths to be the best receivers of consciousness, obviously animals are conscious, but on a lower level, and maybe rocks are conscious, just on an extremely low level, an extremely low vibration. We vibrate fairly high, so we receive consciousness much better.
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff Well it's up to you to prove that this vibration still exists after we are dead.
and its up to you to prove that something as complex as a soul can just popp into existance
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR No it's not up to me lol, it's up to you, the only way you can prove this stuff is by experiencing it. Try to have a few out of body experiences and you will be much closer to knowing what truth is. Remember this, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just is. Our souls don't die, and they're never born, it's a continuous cycle of existence on different planes of reality and different dimensions. I don't know everything about it yet, but that's why we're here to experience it!
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff Ok so either i believe that something as complex as the mind was built with trillions of triumphing cells throughout billions of years and made the human brain, which can fool us sometimes with fake experiences, or i believe in your fairy tale that somehing as complex as a mind cant be destroyed, just like something as simple and basic as energy cant.
So far im gonna stick with the realistic one :P
( the mind is to complex for fitting in your story )
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR "If one isn't astounded and amazed by quantum physics, then one does not yet understand it" A quote by a physicist who works in the field. Remember when I compared our bodies to a radio? If the radio is broken, it's not going to pick up the signal. Most people these days are walking zombies, and are just barely connected with the field, due to poor health, brainwashing ect. Have you ever heard of a fractal? The universe works on the principles of fractalization.
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff Every part of the picture or equation, contains the entire picture or equation, so it's completely infinite, as is the universe and our minds. Think of this, in this life, we conceive our brains to be the creator of thought and knowledge ect, but how is it possible that a material thing like our brain created such an amazing immaterial thing like thoughts and feelings? Each one of us has OBEs frequently during deep sleep, just like dreams, we don't recall much. Practice remembering!
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff Well i agree with you here, that the brain cant possibly create something immeterial, therefor the thoughts are material, SINCE its impossible for something materialistic to create something immeterial..
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR Oh gosh...that wasn't my point at all, my point was that the mind is NOT material, the brain has nothing to do with the creation of though. We know this because there is really no such thing as "matter" or "material objects" this was proved over 100 years ago, but has not been taught to our children, because our leaders want us dumbed down. All "matter" is comprised of waves of energy, they only become "things" and "objects" when we perceive them. Look up the double slit experiment.
Riffnspliff 1 year ago
@Riffnspliff You know what i mean, materialistic = something that is made out of matter /atoms, is that study about proving that something that is made out of atoms can produce something that is not made out of matter/ information =?
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR See, that's what you have to understand here. Atoms are made out of 99.999% empty space, and the rest is just energy, there is nothing material to it. The study is about how things are created by our observing it. It'll take too long to explain, look up a youtube video about it. Atoms only exist because we observe them, as with protons neutrons ect. When not being perceived, they are just Quanta, potential energy yet to be set free with the help of consciousness.

@JollSSteR
SportZ114 1 year ago
@SportZ114 Well, whales are the biggest animals on the planet, geopards are the fastest, flamingos are the pinkest.. ETC.
How do you expect me to believe that our special leads to heaven while their special leads to hell...?? Wtf?
And, the soul has been awkwardly disproven..
ill provide link if your ready to be chocked :P
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR
SportZ114 1 year ago
@SportZ114 What do you think happens to a fly when you kill it?
Probably you think it just loses its conssiousness, it would be cool to be special but we are not being that live forever.
We die.
Get over it.
It would indeed matter if i could disprove the soul, if i could prove it you'd be crawling through glas to see it, it's uncomfortable to listen to evidence that are against your world view.
Now let me link it mate :)
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR: Its not about being special. Everything is connected to form that singular entity that many call god. What I believe is, we are just bits and pieces of a puzzle trying to figure out what the big picture looks like. Some of us even get a glyphs of that picture and that is when their lives changes. It can happen to a human, a bird or a rock. In the end its all the same, connected with the same force. We should be open to the ideas that there is something more to life then logic.
overcontrast 1 year ago
@overcontrast There is more to life than logic?

@JollSSteR because we're alive.

@boogeyman1967 Define alive,,'
if your defining it as i am then all organisms are alive, which makes us, not special :P
Although its awesome that we live in a universe where there is life, not that we would be abe to live in any other sort of universe but :)
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR ..so what you're saying is we're not special because we are aware? would we be special if we ceased to exist? ..probably no, in your views.. because then we would just be lumped in with all the other non-existing things..which would make us again, not special.. right? I'm trying to figure out why you would think we aren't special.. we are magnificent beings with unlimited potential.. this doesn't weigh in at all with you?
boogeyman1967 1 year ago
@boogeyman1967 Yepp, thats what i mean.
i cant see why we should be special, let me put it like this.
if what makes us special ( that we are alive ) is what gives us an afterlife then EVERY single animal, ants, dogs, bees, and maybe even cells will also have an afterlife.
the person who thinks smartness is what gets us to heaven then that person is arrogant, look at what we are doing to each other and to the earth.
being a bluewhale and swimming around in peace should get u to heaven.
JollSSteR 1 year ago
@JollSSteR the potential of the human being is great.regardless of intent we can create and destroy in a way that no other animal is capable of doing! Our intelligence is the thing that makes us special but of course we are really only special to ourselves!
123456wasp 8 months ago
@123456wasp here is my problem with that, 1. All animals are special in that sentence, you cant say that bluewhales go to heaven just because they are big, i would want something more meaningful than that we are capable of building lamps or computers x)
i need something really deap and poetic here :P
2. we are made of the same stuff as all other animals, unless ive missed something.
JollSSteR 8 months ago
@JollSSteR your first mistake is your looking for a heaven ,There is no god there is no devil there is no hell or heaven. Its a fairytale and if you believe in a fairytale then until you realize how stupid it is to look for what can get into heaven, I can only surmise that you would not be able to understand the reality of the world .We are all related to all the other living organisms that evolved on this planet with us,With our intelligence we are suppose to look after the planet for all of us
123456wasp 8 months ago
@123456wasp Yeah i agree, but people who still make up fairy tales arnt stuid, it represents a human need, we need to make up bullsht to feel good about ourselves.
But my question was more like, why is our speciality a better way to heaven (if you believe in heaven) than for example being able to fly, or brainwash ants or anything els.
Why should we be special?
what makes our special special :P?
JollSSteR 8 months ago
@JollSSteR what makes us special. We are special in our own minds,we invented religion because unlike other animals we have a understanding of our mortality we invent a comfortable afterlife with good place to go and a bad place togo,to comfort our fears of death,We made God in our image so we can be like god,no other thing is close to god like us.We lie to ourselves to make our selves feel more comfrotable and important that we really are.We lie to ourselves when we think we are special!
123456wasp 8 months ago 3
@JollSSteR

@PivotalThinking but how do we know that we are made in gods image?
JollSSteR 6 months ago
@PivotalThinking Why do you say that with such certainty when you don't know any more than anyone else? You use the demeanour of someone answering questions when you're just creating more questions.
So far there is no evidence that we are anything "more" than animals, our behaviour is in line with what is expected of intelligent social primates
Some books that people wrote to make other people feel better shouldn't be taken so literally. You're afraid of admitting you don't have all the answers
emikochan13 5 months ago
@PivotalThinking we are animals. The only thing that makes us special is that we label and categorize things and compute with our brain. No one ever said that animals other than humans can't have Near Death Experiences. People thinking they are special is just a part of the human delusion. We think we are special, because our brain is the most powerful and we live the longest and we're king of the jungle basically.
cosmicalryu 3 months ago
@PivotalThinking I see this as a cop out. When I consider the endless complexities of nature, the beauties of which we cannot understand, quantum mechanics, the infinitely huge expanses of space and all that the wider world has to offer - I find it offensive and limiting that we should strap that all down as "God's" and conform it's nature to that of ours; saying it's made by a "man" in the sky. Why must there be order to beauty?
Grooveify 1 month ago
@JollSSteR Even animals and plants have souls (energetic fields around) Dont disconsidere any simple thing of this Universe, Everything is part of a Whole Unity and intercomunicated. You are right. We dont have more value than an animal or a plant. I believe we are all equal objects of Love.

@SuperAlaska2011 You guys really confuse me, xD some of you say that nonhuman animals do not have souls, well, i guess your opinions are so unique on these objects that i cant truly understand what everyone thinks on the matter.

Where did the first Phineas go?
kjg28 1 year ago

What would be interesting would be if we knew whether she was blinded by an eye defect, or if the eye is working fine but the problem's in the brain. If her blindness originates in the brain it rules out the theory of the brain producing vision for her.
catherinespark 2 years ago
To catherinespark
She has been blind from birth.
Also, Your latter statement is utterly unfounded. Here's why!
In order for a brain to be able to produce a vision; it must first have a visual reference to conclude from.
Respectfully, PT
PivotalThinking 2 years ago
I think calling my last statement 'utterly unfounded' is quite a crushing comment. To say 'your last statement has one big problem' is more polite. Still I see your point. Don't forget though that people born without limbs can still be born with 'phantom limbs' despite never having known what limbs feel like - it's hard wired into a 'map' on the surface of their brain.
I just use that example to compare to the point I was making. It would be much harder with vision, if not impossible.
catherinespark 2 years ago
@PivotalThinking i don't see what the fact that she's been blind from birth has to do with whether or not it's an ocular defect, neurological problem etc, in her vision. catherine raises the question of where her vision is ceasing to function, not whether or her eyes are capable of seeing. the point she was raising is that if you can prove for instance that the parts of her brain are incapable of interpreting vision, them perhaps it's proof of the "transmission" of consciousness theory raised...

Thank you for the comment.

AgnosticAntitheist 2 years ago
I find the documentary slightly biased since they don't interview anyone who is opposed to the idea that there is no such thing as a soul or whatever, after they have presented this aparently strong evidence for it. They should really have shown someone elses opinion on this. Like that lady they interviewed earlier.
AgnosticAntitheist 2 years ago
I understand what both of you are saying...

Brandon112878 2 years ago
Regarding blindness: it seems reasonable to infer that if human-like communication is coming from an object you've never seen before, then that object is probably what a human being must look like.
Regarding the bias: False. They interviewed Dr. Susan Blackmore, a psychologist, physicist, and materialist. She argued that NDEs occur on the threshold of clinical death, not during it.
