@YoureGuilty Nah... that's common lore but kinda fallacious. It's called the diabolus en musica because the triton is a thorny thing to deal with in voice leading. It's an unstable stack of intervals that doesn't pull so clearly as, say, the V-I. It's too ambiguous and can suggest too many directions, if you're concerned with "proper" voice leading.
