the orchestral arrangements afforded lanza by rca were nothing less than exquisite and incomparable. it is too bad that zubin mehta didn't try to obtain them for the "three tenors" concerts. they would have made an very big difference. i would have loved to hear pavarotti perform this arrangement, although i fear he might have been "lost" in it.

o.m.g. the note mario hits at 3:26+? my beloved father, a smooth, silky baritone who desperately wanted to be a tenor (don't they all?) would "strain his milk" -- as my mother used to say -- trying to match him note for note at the hi-fi. no one....NO ONE...could or ever will match Mario Lanza.

@kestrel321 You've got to be kidding. Bocelli can't even sing without being amplified up the wazoo. That's why he doesn't sing in live operas. They let him try it once and people couldn't believe the tinny, small voice they were hearing without his customary amplification that he always has when he sings in big arenas...which are pretty much the only places he ever sings.
