  • There was, at one time, the original B & W movie on youtube, with most of the deleted scenes. I prefer the black and white, because that's the one I saw in the early '50s, and the one that scared me half to death. I also like the atmosphere of B & W. Has that been taken down? I can't find it.

  • 1 dislike is The Thing.

  • Wow, the opening credits look even more creepy with that erie red glow. awesome.

  • It's cool how the opening title appears exactly as the one in the 1982 movie

  • Colorization COMPLETELY ruins the stark mood created by the film's superb cinematography! Thumbs up Ted Turner's classic movie station; thumbs down to his Crayola box!

  • everything starts with part 0, never with Part 1....

  • Why is labeled part 0 and not part 1? o_o

  • Halloween 1978 Tommy Doyle and Lindsay watching The Thing on TV John Carpenter was a fan of Howard Hawks plus he directed the 1982 version of The Thing With Kurt Russell.

plus Forbidden Planet 1956 was also on the TV in Halloween 1978.

two true sci-fi/horror or suspense movies plus john carpenter is still the greatest horror movie director other then Wes Craven and Robert Shaye.

  • @MrJOHNRINGO71454

robert shaye directed a horror movie? Ugh.....

  • I LOVE U

  • a classic

  • LOL Part 0

  • I got this in colour about 2 years ago and i was mega impressed by it's Pulpy Horror comic style appearance I just got Earth v the Flying saucers it's a little grainy but that ain't bad either. It's great to have them in colour among other pulpy 50's Sci fi movies like This Island Earth,Forbidden Planet, First Spaceship on Venus, War of the Worlds, Invaders from Mars, Conquest of Space, Destination Moon and others that I have in my collection. This movie is the Scary Bastard from back then thou

  • whe WHAT THE FU THIS MOVIE IS IN COLOR????

  • If you look carefully there is part 2.....

  • @marrone1967 If you look carefully, there are also more parts.

  • To be honest, colourization ruins the film. It's creepy atmosphere was also due to the lack of colour.

  • @AceProductions91 actully i think it's more atmospheric in colour.

  • Colorized ?.....( ( SHIT!!!)).......(

  • One of the best horror movies from the 1950s

  • I saw the 2011 version. It was okay. And I liked how the intro remained the same.

  • @incrediblehulkmovies

2011's movie was a prequel and both Thing movies are adaptations of the novel

  • intresting to see this 1951 version of The Thing colourized but i think monacrome does give more creepiness

  • Anyone have a torrent link for the colorized version? Google has failed me. If so a PM would be greatly appreciated. I absolutely love this movie, and never knew their was a color version.

  • Colorization on this looks alright

  • @CLASSICMONSTERGUY95 0:51 A great moment in cinematic history Dimitri Tiomkin makes the music louder with a blarring trumpet fanfare when his name appears on the screen

  • Hunh...the movie is nothing like Campbell's book. What's going on?

  • @Khultan I think it was a matter of limited film techology, and a dislike of anything "gross", of the time period. Just a guess on my part though. The 1980s version is much closer.

  • @Spyderblade001 You're probably right on the former but I don't know about the last part, have you read the book this flick is loosely based on?

  • @Khultan Only the first few pages...life got in the way, so I never finished. I had heard that the 80s version was fairly close to the book though, and the liitle I read seemed to match up with the book. Let me know if this isn't correct.

  • @Spyderblade001 Yes, you're right on your hunch. J. Carpenter's version follows Campbell's much more closely than the 1951 movie loose adaptation.

  • this is one of the most epic opening credits..... "the thing" words slowly appearing in front of you... really sends you chills.... i am glad that carpenter mantained this opening for his 1982 movie.

  • @EarthboundSNES love the screen name dude that was a great game!

  • @EarthboundSNES That opening scene was the most frightening thing Ive ever scene as a kid and it still creeps me out today!

  • I've never seen this colorized. I never even knew a colorized version exsited. Badass!

  • @MisterMasterShafter1 Me either. This is amazing. Where did you find it?

  • @Cavillier1970 I found it here. Marrone1967 posted it.

  • This video is clearer than my black and white I have on video disc.

    Thanks.
