His left hand in the cascara example is actually on the and of 2. It should be on 2 & 4 .

Manny Oquendo used to play on the and of 2 all the time. It's just a different groove and it's perfectly valid if it makes the tune swing.

no no es lo mismo, varia en el tamaño y por ello en el sonido, el cencerro mambo es de 8 1/2 plgs y el cencerro timbale es mas chico, pero para que no haya pierde lo mejor es escoger el sonido que mas nos guste.

This video seems to have some rhythm to it. I've seen so many videos in which it appears that the timbalero appears to be just hitting randomly the drums or the bells without producing any rhythm, but this video seems to be played by professional musicians who can create actual rhythms.
