That lick you are playing (basically the "Hoochie Coochie Man Lick") is best played in 1st position on the the 1st octave... So key of G (instead of C in 2nd position/crossharp) would be 2D 3D' (1st 1/2 step bend) 2D 3D' 4B.

1st position blues are really really cool !

This isn't a 12 bar blues, it's just one lick. A 12 bar blues would have the I, IV and V chords in a 12 bar long progression. (for example, A-D-A-A-D-D-A-A-E-D-A-E)

There's a lot of ways to blow one hole at one time, I'll show you the easiest.

It's called the lipping, and all you have to do is to join your lips like when you are whistling or kissing somebody and blow the hole. But don't contract your lips, because this way they will get tired quickly.

Why when you play it on the harp is it called the 12-bar blues, when there is only 4 notes in the whole thing, and there really is no beginning/end (unlike on a guitar or keys) where there are 12 distinct 'bars' to the piece?

i think he only teaches 1 of the bars of 12 bar blues. that is usually how it starts. repeats 4x, and then moves to the 2nd bar, and there is a 3rd (or turnaround) bar that makes a cameo later as well... and then back to the 1. check out the group "Harmonica Enthusiasts!" for other clear intro videos as well...
