  • Includes a quick shot of Bob flying his Aerocar!

  • Always liked Bob Cummings, to bad he got sick, he was such a health nut and looked very young. There were some great shows on back then, times have changed.

  • My dad loved to here anything about space travel he wanted to be an astronaut before the stupid Veitnam war!

  • CORRECTION: when the Thursday night schedule began a week after this preview, it looked like this-

    7:30 FRONTIER CIRCUS

8:30 THE [NEW] BOB CUMMINGS SHOW

    9:00 THE INVESTIGATORS

    10:00 CBS REPORTS

    {the first three were produced by MCA/Revue, the leading producer of filmed TV series on all three broadcast networks- especially NBC- at that time}

"CIRCUS" and Cummings' show "flip-flopped" their time periods in February 1962, with "TELL IT TO GROUCHO" and "THE GERTRUDE BERG SHOW" from 9-10.

  • Bob Cummings was 51 years old when this was filmed. Hard to believe. Bob was quite a stud and a terrific actor. Hitchcock used him in a couple of films and Hitch only worked with the best.

Bob was known as quite a cocksman in Hollywood. No doubt he was dicking those two models in the opening shot.

He was the Dick Clark of his era. The guy stayed youthful up until his 70's.

  • It probably would, 'oranger', but without most of the "sex" and "intrigue" it's known for; quite likely, "MAD MEN" would have been "sanitized" into a weekly "soap opera" in the style of Rona Jaffe's "The Best Of Everything" (book and movie versions) along then network "guidelines" [and the "Television Code"].

  • Of course, John Derek would later marry someone name Cathleen Collins. Pop quiz--what name is she known by today?

  • i wonder how "mad men" would fit into the early 1960s lineup?

  • Thursday nights {all times Eastern}:

7:30 THE (NEW) BOB CUMMINGS SHOW

    8:00 FRONTIER CIRCUS

9:00 THE INVESTIGATORS [short-lived, gone by December]

10:00 CBS REPORTS [the weekly news documentary series CBS president Jim Aubrey tried so often to cancel, but couldn't; its' theme, at 4:22- a passage from "Appalachian Spring", by Aaron Copeland]
