Tarkovsky was a fan of The Terminator and if you've seen a Tarkovsky film he's one of the most challenging directors to watch. It just goes to show everyone has their own opinion.

clever story of sabotage of an actress and director - only to a point. a producer could never get away with that on his own. it would have to come from the studio because that's THEIR LOGO on the film.

still, spanish sensibilities about women and the world are undigestable. what woman with two professions have a need to be a whore?

inexplicable. cruz is not a smart woman. and the idea that she should deserve an award for simply crying on cue is just as ridiculous - her only "skill".

I saw a some Almadovar's movies..a few people ask me why you wached it, him movies are boring? but for me every film is diffrent but similar. Him style is recognizable and of course often with the same main actress P. Cruz but I very like this kind movie, very very diffrent than for example americans predictable action .. almadovar is unique director than other and always shown real art scene just like a girl's tear on tomato in "broken emraces"..love feel art..good selection of music and fable

hmm it looks like a very deep and moving film. a little on the subtle side than it is Hollywoodized. I'm not sure I get the plot since I didn't see any car crash. To me, this is just a movie about a young woman who wants to act and she deserts her old husband for a younger and a more supportive one. Penelope looks pretty ok in it. I personally am more of a fast paced person so watching it made me feel a lingering sadness. Not sure if I want to go to a movie to be more depressed. . .

Cruz is the Muse!

Penelope is perfect in Almodovar films: Nothing wrong with Vicki Cristina Barcellona (in which she was great) but when she's in an all-Spanish film she really comes into her own.

I was more excited by Volver than this latest one - but this latest one is brilliant in every way, which just shows how monumental Volver was. Oh and Penelope, lots of people in Britain would pronounce dinghy with a hard G.

Almodovar never ceases to amaze. He only gets better. He is a master at capturing and depicting the subtle nuances of human emotion and the human experience. His insight into the human condition only deepens and expands as does his craft of making films. I am very much looking forward to watching this movie.

Grown up themes that are a bit over the heads of most viewers here I suspect, in true euro auteur fashion. Too much navel-gazing from Almodovar, and not enough heart to keep you engaged. Cruz was great and it looks good but without a punchy story that feels like it goes somewhere it seems wasted. One for the art critics more than movie goers.

That's not true. Twilight's release date was originally in December and Warner Bros. moved HP, because they already had a huge year with Dark Knight and didn't have a blockbuster movie for this summer and didn't want so much time between HBP and DH. It wasn't until after HP moved that Twilight took the prime Thanksgiving spot. HP has already made way more than Twilight.
