It’s like a great biological experiment- using hormone replacements to change gender while hoping athletic performance remains unimpaired. He’s even visited IAAF HQ in Monaco to press his case, spending hours at reception on his knees & crying in desperation. Last time he was forcibly ejected & they’ve now threatened to bar him from entering the country.
so far my best is around a 2:23. I love runnning the 800m. But i am the best in the 1600 and the XC 5k. My 5k Times best this year was a 19.52 Hoping to drop the times any suggestions just inbox them

Last year at new balance outdoor nationals zavon watkins of liverpool split 1:47.99 (yes he is of proper age). I can name even more athletes who have run under 1:58 as a freshman or sophomore but that would be a further waste of my time. Maybe you just suck at running (if you are even a runner). NY represent.

Then type '4x100m Final.Olympic Games,Athens,2004' to hear the BBC's proper commentary, posted by ARRISIPPY. The difference is embarrassing.

i ran a 1:45 in high school in my junior year, but i wasn't really ever good at shorter stuff. I was better at 3000, i ran a 7:30 in junior year. it was pretty easy. i can also beat a cheetah at short distances and defy gravity to the moon

I'm in 7th Grade and my fastest at a meet this year was 2.05. I've placed 1st every meet with my slowest being 2.24. Another kid on my team has placed in second every time. His fastest is 2.09. We're about 1-5 seconds apart from each other every time. We typically beat people by about 5-20 seconds.

600 meters should be in the next Olympics, this way we don't have Legends such as Kipketer never getting their Gold medal they deserve. Kipketer would have won the Olympics if there ever was a six hundred meter race.

@OTCGreen Rudisha has had a great year but he has yet to win a major world championship so it isn't a given yet. Running fast doesn't automatically equal a gold medal, this race is a perfect example.

@Chocosizzles In 400m the most popular strategy is the "four P's strategy" Go out hard for the first 100m (push), relax but try maintaining that speed on the back stretch (pace), put more effort around the second bend (position), and give everything you have for the home straight (pray). Michael Johnson used that exact strategy and his 100m splits in his 43.18 400m WR were 11.1, 10.12, 10.44, and 11.52, THATS a sprint.
An 800 is a sprint and these guys obviously sprinted their hearts out in the first lap + the second lap. LOOK AT THEIR TIME! They ran a :51, my friend is very fast and runs the 400m in :55.
@UItimatesnake I never said they're not fast idiot, but it's a fact that 800m is middle distance, not like I'm makin this shit up. They didn't "sprint their hearts out in the first lap" if they did they'd have nothing left for the final 400m, you have to pace yourself much more in 800m than in 400m. In Rudisha's 800m WR (1:41.01) he went out in about 49s, his 400m PB is 45.5, the first 400m isn't a full out sprint.
@MrNony64 true...and i don't mean to downplay other races or events...ur right all races are hard...i mean look at pole vault...so technical, and a very hard field event...but i'm just saying a true 800m athlete must combine the elements of leg speed with endurance in order to perform at their best...there is very little room for error. and its is almost a uniquely exhausting race mentally and physically.
Wilson, though the record holder was not a great sprinter in terms of being able to produce a great burst off a fast pace...in this race his one mistake was not going before 200m from the tape...
This year was to get people into running at my school, but my coach is really going to push me next season, as I want to win the county schools championships. A challenge is there to be broken, like Rudisha and 100secs.
A high school 400 is my favorite high school event because it's a very long sprint. In the Olympics, the 800 becomes the longest sprint and its so awesome to see athletes barreling down the track at such high speeds for such a great length. (Relative of course, haha.)
What a great race! The gold medalist pulled from 10 meteres behind the pack to win it. Excellent race for the audience.
@Chocosizzles 400m is the longest sprint in track and field and 800m is the shortest middle distance event in track and field, FACT. 400m requires power and speed, you have to push out out of the blocks and pace yourself so you can maintain that speed for the entire 400m (push, pace, position, pray). Obviously you have to be fast to be an international 800m runner but it's humanly impossible to sprint an entire 800m.
@phastman1994 Actually, its humanly impossible to sprint a 400 as well. Research shows that humans can only sprint 300 meters, and after that, the lactic acid prevents one from maintaining one's pace. Besides, when the race was conceived, they did not expect people to maintain such an incredible pace, as they do now. Tradition calls it middle distance, but I find some of our best 800 competitors on my high school's track team are sprinters.
Borzakovskiy's racing style is the most fun to watch. Its nail biting on the edge of your seat. and always awesome!

@bobloblaw323 I do agree, I can't hand it to him until after he actually wins the gold. Kipketer ran 1:41's and set world records and never won an Olympic Championship.

@OTCGreen Rudisha has had a great year but he has yet to win a major world championship so it isn't a given yet. Running fast doesn't automatically equal a gold medal, this race is a perfect example.

800m World record requires a 12.5 second 100 meter. That's usually considered a sprint.

@Chocosizzles In 400m the most popular strategy is the "four P's strategy" Go out hard for the first 100m (push), relax but try maintaining that speed on the back stretch (pace), put more effort around the second bend (position), and give everything you have for the home straight (pray). Michael Johnson used that exact strategy and his 100m splits in his 43.18 400m WR were 11.1, 10.12, 10.44, and 11.52, THATS a sprint.

An 800 is a sprint and these guys obviously sprinted their hearts out in the first lap + the second lap. LOOK AT THEIR TIME! They ran a :51, my friend is very fast and runs the 400m in :55.

@UItimatesnake I never said they're not fast idiot, but it's a fact that 800m is middle distance, not like I'm makin this shit up. They didn't "sprint their hearts out in the first lap" if they did they'd have nothing left for the final 400m, you have to pace yourself much more in 800m than in 400m. In Rudisha's 800m WR (1:41.01) he went out in about 49s, his 400m PB is 45.5, the first 400m isn't a full out sprint.

@MrNony64 true...and i don't mean to downplay other races or events...ur right all races are hard...i mean look at pole vault...so technical, and a very hard field event...but i'm just saying a true 800m athlete must combine the elements of leg speed with endurance in order to perform at their best...there is very little room for error. and its is almost a uniquely exhausting race mentally and physically.

Wilson, though the record holder was not a great sprinter in terms of being able to produce a great burst off a fast pace...in this race his one mistake was not going before 200m from the tape...

This year was to get people into running at my school, but my coach is really going to push me next season, as I want to win the county schools championships. A challenge is there to be broken, like Rudisha and 100secs.

THIS is why the 800 is my favorite event.
A high school 400 is my favorite high school event because it's a very long sprint. In the Olympics, the 800 becomes the longest sprint and its so awesome to see athletes barreling down the track at such high speeds for such a great length. (Relative of course, haha.)
What a great race! The gold medalist pulled from 10 meteres behind the pack to win it. Excellent race for the audience.

@Chocosizzles 400m is the longest sprint in track and field and 800m is the shortest middle distance event in track and field, FACT. 400m requires power and speed, you have to push out out of the blocks and pace yourself so you can maintain that speed for the entire 400m (push, pace, position, pray). Obviously you have to be fast to be an international 800m runner but it's humanly impossible to sprint an entire 800m.

@phastman1994 Actually, its humanly impossible to sprint a 400 as well. Research shows that humans can only sprint 300 meters, and after that, the lactic acid prevents one from maintaining one's pace. Besides, when the race was conceived, they did not expect people to maintain such an incredible pace, as they do now. Tradition calls it middle distance, but I find some of our best 800 competitors on my high school's track team are sprinters.
