love the bite sound they make, and we should stop trying to go to space and "TRULY EXPLORE" our deepest trenches and oceans for the wonnders and misteries that live there.
I bets a massive squid lives where whales can't get it.
UNDERZ THE ARTIC or ANTARTIC ice shelf think...it would have no natural enemies down there...cod, krill and other fish species would support that under ice ecosystem capable of supporting a MONSTER!
I want to see one so bad it just has to be even 40 ft 0_O
Yeh right nice title! Sea Demons... ok if they wer demons of the sea then why did God Put them here on earth! i mean i know god casted Lucifer and all of the ones who fallowed Lucifer here but why Sea Demons why not Sea Creatures!
another problem as well is that the Mesonychoteuthis species usually are common to sub arctic waters near Alaska and Russian waters. There is a slight chance it could be a new species. that would be something!
Well, the 150ft estimate is unconfirmed speculation. The 108ft measurement estimated by the forensics expert studying the film is also much larger than previous estimates on the Giant's maximum size.
I'd really like to see the new footage studied by more people.
I saw an episode of a monster0hunter show last night on the Discovery channel, and they caught a clipse of a distant apparition with an underwater camera. That squid was MASSIVE. A foresics expert estimated the tentacles to be about a foot in diameter.
i saw that too, 2 weeks b4 it aired, it actually turned out to be a Giant, not a giant humbolt which i am still waiting to see had proof b4 i say can reach more that 35 feet in length. One of the things is that humbolts(like all squd) do not take out whales, they are eaten by whales...a squid no matter how big would have to dig past all of the blubber of a whale(between 4-16 inches) just to get to the nutrience, that would take alot of work
Correct. Btw, they estimated the tentacles to be about 18 inches in diameter, not 12 inches -and if it was a giant squid, they estimate the length at about 108ft. Mindblowing if that's accurate, because it's somewhat larger than previous estmiates for maximum size. O_O
*pukes* this things are fucking disgusting... i hate sea creatures. i hate the shit that lives at the bottom of the ocean and shit like that. *pukes again*
Actually, squids (and octopi) have been shown to respond to their keepers and to show affection toward them; and they show extreme intelligence for a invertebrate. After finding this out, I could no longer eat squid or octopus sushi. And I love sushi.
I know that this is an old comment but the scientist in the video wearing the armor said he was inspired by star wars to make the armor as protection from the humbolt squids because he got attacked in a previous expidition by them so yeah your right it looks like storm trooper armor. Good observation by the way.
Yep: Scientists of the National Science Museum said they succeeded in catching a deep-sea giant squid at a depth of 640 meters (2,112 feet) on December 6 in the North Pacific Ocean, some 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) south of Tokyo. The squid was 3.5 meters in length, the head being 1.4 meters.
I'm actually surprised. They actually go after you and are very aggressive. I learned something that I didn't expect. Damn. No deep sea diving for me.

It's also possible that it's a "Colossal Squid", which little is known about and is estmated to be bigger than the Giant.
