I absolutely adore art, particular dark films and animations. Ask 10 different people what they got from this clip, and you'll get 10 different answers. Art is self expressive, full of depth, and can be interpreted in so many ways! Keep it up! ;)
fantastic work and idea was just great especially last scene as just.... no words man great work! i have feeling that even grave keeper was crying... good job man and good luck! =)
Truly amazing. Great animation. You created a mood and a story that really pulled me in. That's hard to do in six minutes. You can tell by the comments that people are leaving that you really struck a chord. Excellent, excellent work. Jason
... the Digger offered the way out- Most o' th' time 'e does! To live. Again? Or to live... on; In the same unchanged, unending torment, personal or health-related.
Sometimes it's all in the attitude... and nothing else. We set our horizons... However, be aware there is a path to walk... and/or cut.
Yet at times; Some are just plain worn out...
Either way- we all must face the Digger sooner or later... So... Make the best of it while that Breath-of-Life is in yer lungs while yer healthy!
oh my god that was fantastic, it made me cry, the poem annabel lee does that to me though, so this was like, after the fact feelings. it was amazing, and i hope more things like this come out soon :]
@giantcookiejar We have an interview with the winner of one of our competitions on our blog. There's a link to the blog in the description box, and the post is called "Yannick Puig – Winner of the Saatchi & Saatchi Nothing is Impossible Challenge".
This ACTUALLY gave me shivers - I swear I can STILL feel that cold wind blowing up my neck! I FELT like I was actually chased too. VERY eerie, and VERY well done! Great music choice to go with the art style too.
@AtheistActivist its about annabel lee, when he sees the grave digger and it pans out, thats what that grave says. its the only grave with a name that we can see. it was also one of the first things i noticed. :]
As i think - He just not see the aim of life to go on without HER ! So : 1. This is a symbol of dead life; 2. He just following her, which is absolutely incorrect approach to the life. When One not see the main aim of Life, any negative matters are driving him/her to despire and this last one (despair) is one of the reason of suicide. Actually, this is my point of view !
Edgar Allen Poe! Of course it's morbid. Brilliant poet, must've suffered a lot. I was hoping Edgar'd get out at the end, that was really morbid. I hope the animator doesn't suffer as much as Poe did.
wow...these videos never cease to amaze me

I feel the concept was that the man was already dead and that the solemn gravedigger was finally able to put his spirit to rest.

In my opinion this feels like that Edgar, the old man can represent someone who is having rough times, drug addiction or something similar..
In this case the grave digger tries to help him out, it can represent anyone and still no-one.
But Edgar has set himself so deep into the darkness that he just can't find the life energy enough to be wanting to stay alive so he gives up.
