red said "its a given" means its implied and doesnt have to said explicitly. so, eric taking that as a "red loves me but doesnt say it because its implied and doesnt have to said out " says "be my date"

At one point he goes to that room, where Red is sitting, reading, put his military bed on, and as soon as he's finished, Red says " I don't think so"
