In WWII we came in late and mostly fought against Japan with ships and beach landings and in fact most of our engagements in WWII consisted of units a fraction the size of Russians on a battlefield. Of course it is expected to have their losses on a grander scale but so would we if we sent half a million men on a battlefield.

T-34's, IL-2, Yak-3, Katusha rockets, PPSH-41's and so on were implemented later after the first winter. By that point German losses is now believed to be 8,000,000 wermacht soldiers dead nevermind another over a million civilian casualties back home. Our losses I would say would even double Russians had we fought on our own soil.

And about Afghanistan there is no clear achievable objective in the long run. The only fight in which we can claim some victory is in dismanteling the old Al Quaeda structure and we only needed a limited operation in Afghanistan to achieve it, not a decade long war. Yes, we can win two wars at the same time but we have to choose carefully first.

But in technological age raising kids cost much money, money you wont get back until the kid is of adult age and that's if he or she makes a sucess out of themselves.

In WWII we came in late and mostly fought against Japan with ships and beach landings and in fact most of our engagements in WWII consisted of units a fraction the size of Russians on a battlefield. Of course it is expected to have their losses on a grander scale but so would we if we sent half a million men on a battlefield.

@Patriot87 The Russians in the beginning 1941 upon German invasion were ill prepared and weren't modernized even though they had the stuff. T-34's, IL-2, Yak-3, Katusha rockets, PPSH-41's and so on were implemented later after the first winter. By that point German losses is now believed to be 8,000,000 wermacht soldiers dead nevermind another over a million civilian casualties back home. Our losses I would say would even double Russians had we fought on our own soil.

If you count the Iraq and Afghanistan wars Military spending, then you add 200 billion to annual US Military spending. Well, NATO is doing better in Afghanistan than The Soviets ever did. And with half the troops. China and India most likely would not come to your aid. India's partnership with the U.S. is Growing. While trade with the West is the main growth factor for China. Besides there is still much mistrust between Russia and China.
