Harper is clearly an AGENDA man .. bolster the economy building prisons.. because they're such a great investment right ? .. but wait.. you need PEOPLE to put in PRISONS.. dont you ?.. Oh ,, where do we get people for new prisons , from .. Hmmmm Oh yeah .. ANYONE who falls under the wheels of the SYSTEM.
@ceciliarosasfebres Canda has spoken ... OH CANADA!!! oh ya baby MAJORITY government for Stephen Harper, the BEST prime minister to ever sit at the throne of Canada. WOO FRICKIN HOO!!! Now he can run a STABLE government and run things the way they SHOULD!
All of you north of the 49th have my sympathy dealing with Harper (Bush wannabe).... and you sure don't want to go the way we're gone down here, with our Constitionally guaranteed civil rights trampled on all over the place (think TSA). Canada is a wonderful, wonderful place - don't let the Conservatives ruin it for you.
Record surplus reduced to a record deficit in record time. And that was with a minority. Imagine the fun we could have with a Cons majority gov't. Steve's gotta have that majority and he won't let a simple thing like facts stop him when he can make up his own.
I agree, this is a watershed election if we want to maintain our civil liberties. If we all do a little bit we can get rid of The Ghoul From Alberta. Thanks for your post.
Go back to church you nitwit. There is no room for homophobic racists in Canada. You might want to try being a Muslim, or maybe just move the the southern USA, and join the Tea Party. You stupid intolerant fucks are exactly whats wrong with this whole fucking planet!!!
k u want the truth well U CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH oh u say u can
FINE THE TRUTH IS....
CONSEVERTIVES SUCK LIBERALS? SUCK THEY ALL F*()ED UP
BUT U SAY GIVE THE NDP A CHANCE HAH THEYD FUK UP THE COUNTRY EVEN MORE THEN BEFORE SO U KNOW WHAT PICK YOUR DANM POISON NO HARPER FINE GO FOR IGNATEIF BUT WHAT EVER THE HELL U DO JUST DONT SUPPORT THE QUEBECS COZ THER STUPID AND F THE GREEN PART WE ALREADY HAVE P.E.T.A SO WE DONT NEED THAT BULL SHIT
that my dearcandain friends is the sheer raw TURTH
If we elect harper again the world will laugh at us. He is just Bush in disguise and look at the way the world looked at the united states for re-electing him. Please vote Liberal, it is the only way to bring down the criminal harper regime.
@newf360 First of all...the PC party is liberal in comparison to even the American democrats, which means its policies arent even close to what republican party and Bush attempted. How would the world look at us if we suddenly changed direction to liberal half way through a recession and raised taxes and spending even more, causing jobs and future business to choose other countries? At least write something informed next time
LMAO you're an idiot! Harper is the best thing to happen to this country in decades! Our dollar is strong, our economy is stronger, and we have other prosperous countries wanting to do business with us. Where would we be with a Liberal Govt??? Think - the exact opposite of what I just said ... with higher taxes! Let the PC have their majority, and lets see what Harper can really do for this country. They're well on their way according to recent numbers
If our dollar is strong that benefits some Canadians and harms others, it's not a universally good thing. Also, the Chretien liberals were actually much more fiscally responsible than the current Harper government. They balanced the budget and presided over a period of great economic growth and prosperity in the 1990s. Canada was lucky to avoid much of the 2008 global economic meltdown, but the conservatives still put us deep into debt. I don't call that a strong economic plan.
The Conservatives coasted through the recession because of Liberal policies and banking practices set in place by Paul Martin. Remember when the recession hit, and Harper/Flaherty were still insisting that zero-down, 40 year mortgages were a good idea, while the American economy was collapsing? Harper is spending us into oblivion, and as always, the Liberals will have to clean up his mess when he's arrested/shamed out of office.
@telemov I know your a blind liberal voter and would vote liberal even if mickey mouse was the candidate; however, you should know that it was Harper's government that got us through the recession and into one of the best economies in the WORLD!!! Paul Martin doesn't even deserve mention as he was voted out about as quickly as he was named PM. Ralph Goodale should seriously be your candidate for PM as he is about 2x smarter than Iggy and is WAY more public-friendly.
I know insults and fantasies are what you blind Harper supporters do best, so I won't try to burst your little bubble with actual facts. When you're ready to read a history book or comprehend the Liberals' banking regulations that sheltered Canada from the recession, you'll figure it out on your own. Good luck.
Typical Conservative supporter. Dismissing facts with insults. Tell us, then, TheCreatorOf4, which Conservative policies set up Canada to weather the recession? What did Harper do to keep us from going under?
You can't prove anything to anybody, let alone answer two basic questions. Mulroney spent us into record debt. Harper followed suit, after blowing a Liberal surplus and failing to deregulate our banking system. Sad how you kids today have no idea what you're even voting for.
-The Liberals paid it down significantly, and in fact had a $13-billion budget surplus when the Cons. took office.
-Flaherty once again spent into deficit BEFORE THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN, racking up a record $563-billion debt, despite campaign promises that "he would never go into deficit"
You don't have to believe me. History and facts don't lie. Harper does.
@telemov You really want me to take your word for it then what, give you a hug for showing me the "light?"
Politics is not my life obsession. I might take the time to do my own research to see if you have your facts right and if it is anyone fault or care, but until then I'm pretty sure you are not an avatar of history or facts either.
Now if your done trying to prove something to someone you don't know, I'm waiting for more important messages.
Stephen harper all the way, liberals want something for nothing drug test people on welfare, i think I should be able to tell them how to spend MY MONEY
Lower police recruiting standards? when and where? I was trying to become a police officer. Graduated 2 years of college with honours and another three years of university where I obtained a Bachelor of Science and majored in law with Honours. Maintained the 90th percentile and I cant get a job...so by all means, lower the standards! BTW, all they did was minimize the physical testing...a bit.
@Ryantube007 Sounds like you may to educated to simply follow orders. Somewher along the lines you have probably learned to think for yourself, and there is no room for that in policing.
Your retarded....your pissed that he wants to crack down on marijuana and that there are going to be more police or that they're going to put down more downloading laws that are eventually going to fall into place anyways...wow your daddy must still be wiping your ass and giving you a weekly allowance....wake up.
We will have a conservative majority next election. The NDP, and Liberals fucked themselves over hard during long gun registry votes so whatever they get they deserve.
harper is nothing like bush. harper is a tory, bush is a neo-con - like it or not, thats the political culture. i wish the left did their homework. it's really sad and scary the shit people buy into.
SAY NO to Bill C-15 Harper doesn't care about violent crime. If he did he wouldn't be trying throw everyone who's got a couple pot plants in jail. Sorry Harper but Canada is a pot friendly country. He will use ideology opposed to facts and scientific evidence when when confronted with moral issues. He does not represent the values of the majority of Canadians
@kc450man if you grew like two pot plants for personal use nobody would care anyway, the thing is if you grew 200 you wouldnt even go to jail at all the shit screws you up i know first hand.
@simontimon2 At least the NDP hasn't wasted $55 billion and counting, on pointless pet projects, during a recession that everyone but Harper could see.
So by voting for Harper and getting him a majority I might release the beast within??? Scary stuf!! Apparently he might crack down on druggies and criminals!! Noooo! And he thinks morals are a good thing!! OMG what are we going to do the world is ending!!!
I'm from Alberta and I hate the fact that everyone here votes Conservative because it's trendy. Most people have no knowledge of the Conservative party's platform and yet vote for them.
do you really believe that the Liberals would be a better party to vote for or what do you think the NDP Green party would do ask Raye of the ndp sorry liberal
Ask montgomery and how about all those liberals that had their hands in you pocket and got caught.
How can you say everyone in alberta votes PC did you if you didn't vote YOU HAVE NO SAY WHAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES.
you can say what every you want about what I have typed as I don't give two shits what your going to say or do.
in canada it's hard to pick a party and vote for them all the time... i'm definitely more partial to the Liberals, I think overall they have a better track record than the Cons in the recent past, meaning Mulrooney mostly, but Harper hasnt been great either... the liberals screwed themselves over by kicking Chretien out though... Pauly was a fuckwad, and Dion was just as bad....it's no surprise Harper won.. he knew he was going to..thats why he called the election.
We are in the best positon of all the G7 countries because of the actions Mr. Harper and his government took. They paid down the nation debt by over 40 billion dollars and best of all they didnt steal our money like the liberals did. By the way there is still over 40 million dollars missing from the sponsership scandle.
No doudt, the conservative made a few mistakes but ehy never put any of our taxpayer money into their coffers like the liberals did.
Or why the Coalition was even formed... Yes in politics its a game of power, but he tried to balance his deficit by selling off crown assets. We're in a 30 billion dollar deficit, and in oct he said "No deficit", and their trying to blame this on the recession they saw coming back in 2007.
They've lied to us, and the sponsership scandal is pennies compared to what harper has done in 3 years. Hes spent more then any PM, and made mad tax cuts to the rich.
I was at the Conservative Anti-Coalition Rally here in Vancouver { Watch my video please } Mr Stockwell Day failed to mention , that in year 2000 , Conservative Alliance , Conservative Party and the Bloc had aggreed to form a coalition,The 2000 aggreement titled Consensus Leadership for a New Century ,stated.. We agree that we will support Mr Day as PM of Canada
Day has denied ever seeing this document , Chretien won a majority ,, Thank God ! Could imagine having Mr Day as our PM ?
steven harper is EVIL, we need him out.. he pulled a fast one with this election...knowing no one would go and vote and knowing he would lose in this recession
@omega4chimp Try me again when you can write in English... or are bothered to read a newspaper. We don't have any criminals to let loose, and drug prohibition is a documented failure.
Harper lost his right to lead Canaday at that bankrupt election where Canadians sick of 'polytricks' of selfish rascals did not turn up to vote. No one's now bothered about who leads the proposed coalition of the opposition as long as the frustrated intelligent Canadians in all camps are represented and the time-tested principles of political science, democracy and economics are followed to keep Canada away from those scores of countries in turmoil today thanks to idiotic political leaders.
Whats wrong with more cameras and police?? Are you serious?? The R.C.M.P are pretty much above the law right now. They investigate themselves of any wrongdoings and find no fault in thier actions and the matter gets swept away. 6 people have been killed by taser use in the past year( 2 Youths) and not one investigation found any wrongdoing of the officers involved, and they are still on patrol!!( This is normal in the States) "Those who would trade thier liberty for security deserve niether"
You are right, I think I missed your point last time. But I think more cameras wont stop crime, it will just take place where there are no cameras. Im a federal corrections officer, and I work in a Max prison, The cameras are everywhere there, and inmates still find blindspots and other areas to conduct criminal behaviour. We are supposed to be living in a free society, and cameras every in public, makes me feel like an inmate. But I do understand your point, somthing has to be done.
prisoners are alot like kids. all they have to do all day is think about ways to get away with stuff & get what they want.
public cameras wouldn't bother me. half the population can film you on their cell phones now so you never know. they'd be used not just for deterrent but for evidence.
I still refuse to give up my sacred liberty to not be "spied" upon by big government. No matter how bad crime SEEMS, it still not as bad as the potential of government abusing this new power.
Trust me, politicians will use these powers(Federaly funded cameras in public places) to stay in office and not much else.
Oh really I had not idea! Whoever created this video needs to be fair and start putting what the lib. did in government. I'am still voted for Stephen bc their is no one else to vote 4. Ah how quickly people forget what the liberals did ..I 'am liberal and am never voting for that party again!
You know all of this because Stephan told you this right? Or you have some unworldly powers to see into his mind or the future. That is the only logical explaination other than you are a fear mongering leftest!
It's not amazing that Harper won. Look at the leaders you had to choose from. A separatist, a nerd who couldn't speak english, or a frumpy, bitter, middle aged tree hugger who wasn't smart enough to run somewhere that she actually had a chance. And then there is Jack Layton, who is just an absolute turd, through and through. Are you kidding me? What a disaster it would be if this idiot was not marginalized by his own stupidity. Only in Canada could a moron of this calibre have a voice.
now thats the spirit!!! goodbye to stupid french Dion!! commy ndp Layton!! and his immigrant wife china girl...now on with buisness, now roll a joint and don't worry!!
Well obviously fear mongering crap like this didn't work. Except in Quebec. Now get ready lefties because Harper's going to start making all those radical changes! LOL. Obviously the majority of voting Canadians don't think that. I rest my case. Congratulations to Prime Minister Harper!!!
And for Stephen Harper to say that if he is elected he will incarcerate fourteen year old youths is another reason why we should vote for the NDP!!!
Oh, And by the way is anyone aware that Stephen Harper said he would incarcerate fourteen year old youth from across Canada but that in QUEBEC he stated the age would be SIXTEEN. Where is the logic in this?
Just one more reason of many why we don't need this man as leader of Canada.
They make me sick with the lies and the fear mongering they spread about opposing views. They've had their chance and they've proven what they do with a majority. It's time to give someone else a chance. Stephen Harper has the best ideas and policies for our country.
Completely agreed. It's common sense. Keep criminals where they should be. Jail should be a place people don't want to go. Victims should have more rights. That's what the Conservative Party stands for.
Harper's policies will make everyday acts a criminal act. Bill C-51 will make you a criminal if you give a neighbor any vegetables from your home garden! It will also give police the right to raid your home and take what they want for no reason. In other words, anyone can be put in jail if they are not a Harper Sheeple; it just won't be criminals going to jail!
Just in case people don't know who David Miller is, he is the Idiot/Useless Mayor of Toronto who used to be NDP who is driving businesses out of the City because of his spending problems.
Man, even YouTube is filled with people who are brainwashed by the CBC left wing media who pictured Harper with the hidden agenda.
Do yourselves a favor and stop watching CBC! I'm tired of all the Liberal political correctness bullsh*t! and the NDP - DAVID MILLER-give-all-the-money-to-the-union-spend-spend-spend Ideology
No Politicians can save the global economy right now so please, we don't need new taxes.
Harper did such a poor job at the debate, he didn't even have a plan for the economy, all he did was pick on the other leaders plans.... at least they have plans, where's his?
I vote with the idea of what's BEST for our Country and her citizens and not which is the lesser of 2 evils, of course metaphorically speaking. A vote that will not put your leader in isn't a waste of a vote. It gives seats, it promotes change and the right thing (in my opinion) for the Canada I love. The "idiots" who voted green previously just got May a voice in the debates, and are now creeping up and past NDP which used to be the voice of Canada. Change is needed for a Country to survive.
Don't vote for Bush.JR... I mean Harper. Vote Green. End of Story.
Best Environmental plans, decriminalize weed (this means a shit load more money the Government doesn't have to spend on looking for kids with 2G's in his pocket, and I don't smoke weed.), best ideas for economy, best laws for animal rights, and without a doubt the best leader out of the lineup of morons we saw at the debate last night.
Bush Jr? How has Harper catered to or followed the policies of Bush at all? The green party are a joke. A one issue party who would delegate 90 percent of funding to the environment.
We heard policies from every candidate except for Harper who has still to release his economic platform. You're going to vote for a man who won't tell you what his plans are. He's pro big business funding and has Bush antics to solve middle/lower class issues, the worst platforms to help the environment, and has constrictions on the arts. Listen to what the candidates have to say and not the stereotype of the party. May's policies are that of the most successful countries in the world today.
When did the Liberals release a platform after they had majorities? Their "red books" got more vague after each successive election. What Bush antics has Harper used? The Green Party are just another version of the NDP. Give money to every little interest group and waste countless tax dollars on welfare programs and programs that will do nothing significant for the environment. I trust Harper way more than I do the other leaders.
If you want to institutionalize human beings and, ultimately, set them up for failure, then hop south and enjoy your police state. We need to look at rehabilitation, not a quick fix. Harper wants to throw a 14 year old child in jail for 25 years, and he boasts about that. In 25 years, you're going to have a 39 year old adult that can't funtion in society because their government gave up on him. It's not all black and white.
If a 14 year old creates a heinous crime. Who's to know that they won't do it again? They should be punished. I agree with the previous poster. More leftist postings giving more rights to the criminals then the victims. Jail and punishment are supposed to be a deterrent. Harper will rid us of country club halfway houses and give victims more rights.
In Harper's view, jail and punishment is not a deterrent; it is a life sentence. It takes away the innocent lively hood and lives of children. Jail is not rehabilitaion. Jail is dark and abusive, and can influence a child to be worse. We cannot let Canada become part of America; in policy, nor North American Union. The thing is, Harper loves criminals. He'll lock up the oppositional public, lock up a large percentage of the population, and privatize jails. Money, greed, hidden power: Harper.
Complete BS. In the Liberals/NDP view jail is not a deterrent it's a country club where the criminals have more rights then the victims. A kid who viciously kills someone should be locked away for life. I don't want them living beside my family in 20 years when they're supposedly rehabilitated. It's not dark and abusive. Criminals like Paul Bernardo have cable tv with a remote in their cell. Canada will not become part of America. There would have to be a referendum. Harper has the best ideas!
I don't even know where to start. - Youth in this county are judged differently because they are not as mentally or emotionally developed as adults and there is a greater chance that they will come to regret their criminal behavior. Furthermore, a punishment will only be perceived as *justice* by someone if injustices done upon them are addressed as well, like poverty or abuse. If a youth is truly just psychopathic, then they suffer from a mental disorder- putting them in prison solves nothing.
They are only talking about the most violent cases. Putting them in prison takes them out of society where they should be if they are sick. I'm sorry, sick or not sick if you kill someone deliberately you don't deserve to be in society. I don't want a former killer living next to me and my family. It's just common sense.
DUMP HARPER NOW!! unless you want to live in consintration camps!! JAILS are big business to Harper! Open your eyes to the truth! PLEASE IT IS OUR FUTURE!
LOL. Concentration camps! More fear mongering from the left. Everyone says that Harpers going to be this dictator and bring in this right wing agenda. Not true. Harper has the best idea's about what to do with this country and deserves a chance.
When one wants to privatize jails, when jail gards are abusive, when health and safety are not a factor, when more acts are criminalized, when preaching everything is fine while muzzling opposition, when imprisonment is seen as an economy booster, is when Canadians live in consintration camps; it is now.
When has he said he wants to privatize jails? Just complete fear mongering invention on your part. Give me one example. Muzzling opposition? Look at what former Prime Minister Chretien did to that one protester. Took him by the face. That's the Liberals. Your arguments are complete bull. Give me one fact that backs up any of this crap you're spouting. Prime Minister Harper will make this a better country. He believes in Capitalism, unlike the Liberals/NDP who are socialist communists.
What is it with Tory supporters and leveling this "communist" charge again the NDP? Make you sound like a Republican. *rolls eyes*
Harpers 'get tough on crime' strategies will over crowd our prison system. New facilities for inmates will need to be built. There are people waiting in the wings to provide these services. Privatization of prisons is inevitable under a majority Harper gov't.
The idea is a deterrent. If people know that prison is a bad place to go they won't be as apt to commit a crime. The prisons will not be overcrowded. That is complete leftist bull. The criminals that deserve to be behind bars will be kept there. The NDP have a mentality that the big bad rich guys are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. They want to dole out public money for countless welfare programs. Sharing the wealth amongst everyone? Sounds a lot like communism to me.
But prison is NOT a deterrent. The US has an incarceration rate of 1 percent; one American in 100 is currently in prison according the the stats provided on the US Bureau of justice website. This is by far the highest incarceration rate in the western world, yet the American rate of violent crime is also the highest. Prison does not deter. Putting young people in prison for smoking a herb, though, is a great way to create lots of REAL criminals. What a stupid policy. ABC!
Here we go with comparisons to the US. We are not the US. Harper has said nothing about penalties for marijuana crimes.Harper's stated policy on crime is to cut house arrest sentences for violent and repeat offenders. Putting criminals where they should be and creating a deterrent. We are not the States. What you say makes no sense because nowhere has Harper said he will change laws on possession of marijuana. The Liberals promised to change those laws and in over thirty years of rule did nothing.
Yes, Harper wants tougher mandatory minimum sentencing for marijuana possession (in spite of his rhetoric about "compassion for the user, tougher on dealers"), contrary to the rulings of the Supreme Court and the recommendations of the Senate and the will of the majority of Canadians.
Marijuana is not a "drug", it's an herb.
And it is not illegal,
according to the July 31, 2001 ruling by the Supreme Court.
Every time a Canadian is arrested for pot possession
No I don't need more. Yes I know that it's not illegal to carry around small amounts of the drug. It's common sense that if you're carrying around large amounts you are a dealer. Harper is not arresting people carrying around a gram of marijuana nor will he. The ideology you're going towards will never work. So if it's legalized is it going to be carried in convenience stores? It's already hard enough to get legal cigarettes there. Harper is talking about repeat offenders and violent crimes.
Prove it! No, the Canadian Senate recommends that marijuana be sold in Government Liquor Stores. And your "common sense' may be neither. My licence from Health Canada allows me to carry 150g and to possess 3.75 KILOS. Of course Harper is TALKING about violent crimes and repeat offenders. I'm not interested in that liar's words, but in his actions. As we speak he is illegally having young people arrested and imprisoned for small amounts of cannabis. If you think I'm wrong, just prove it. Please.
Also no party will dare open that can of worms as much as potheads would like to see it. Smoking of any type is a health risk. Young people should not be smoking either regular cigarettes nor marijuana cigarettes and government sanction of an illegal drug would be pure stupidity. Steps have already been taken to make legal cigarettes even harder to buy.
You say this as if people left of centre never call conservatives 'fascist' or 'far-right'. As if, the conservative party of Canada is more liberal than the Democratic Party of Canada. What are you trying to prove?
"Criminologists and prison guards say the actual result of the Harper crime package will probably be not safer communities but, rather, private prisons in which the bottom line is king, not inmate rehabilitation." - Alex Roslin November 22, 2007 The Georgia Straight
"Probably be" Those are the key words in this quote. Just speculation. How are we to know unless they're given a chance? Stockwell Day has stated that the intention of the Conservative government will not be to privatize prisons. The bottom line is that victim's do not have rights and a Conservative government wants to change that.
'Muzzing opposition' could also, in this case, be taken to mean shutting up people who ask difficult questions. Remember when Harper first got into office and had his hissy fit about the 'biased, liberal media'? "Following in the path of Bush, he tried to ban cameras from covering the return of dead soldiers. Routine requests for information were ignored, cabinet ministers were rarely made available, even the scheduling of cabinet meetings was considered to be of no interest to the press."
It is a biased Liberal media. Why would the CBC criticize the Liberals when they get all their funding from them when in power. Two of our national newspapers The Globe and Mail and The Toronto Star have repeatedly supported the Liberals in the past. The National Post came out to give Canadian Conservatives a viable newspaper. Muzzling the media? You don't think this didn't happen with the Chretien government? It just wasn't a widely reported because of the Liberal media slant.
"This week he was broadly attacked in the Canadian press for trying to muzzle criticism. The charge arose when the publisher of the Ottawa Citizen was fired by management after publishing an editorial calling for Mr. Chrétien to resign. The paper's owners, supporters of the Liberal Party, denied that Mr. Chrétien was behind the firing." Chrétien Is Hoping to Aid Africa by Mobilizing Rich Nations by By Clifford Krauss - The New York Times, June 23, 2002
"Private prisons were introduced to Canada by the former Ontario premier Mike Harris, who built Canada's first superjail at Penetaguishene, Ont. It is run by Management and Training Corporation (MTC) of Centreville, Utah. The Harper government now includes two of the most influential and right-wing of Harris' former cabinet ministers. Jim Flaherty is now federal finance minister and John Baird is treasury board president."
Ok you've given proof. Where's this even from? I'm not "Harpering". I just think Harper will take this country in a better direction then the Liberals or the NDP. You seem to have this idea that we will be a free marijuana society if anyone other then Harper is elected. Marijuana IS a drug. It may be a plant but it contains THC which is a mind altering substance. It also involves smoking which Canadian society has been trying to regulate more and more. No government would go into this issue.
Google. Google. Google. The idea I have is that Canada OUGHT to be a free country. Will the other parties help this happen? Maybe, maybe not. But we have overwhelming evidence that Harper will NOT. Harper = Bush and Harper's got to go!
I understand your idea but if we have a "free" country then that opens the doors to such things as prostitution and harder drugs like cocaine, heroin etc. I say "prove it" and I'll continue to say it as long as anti Harper people keep spouting the lies that Harper is aligned with Bush. Unlike a lot of people who come on here to support their opinions and views I am not using foul language or making personal attacks.I am merely trying to debate what I believe to be lies about our government.
Are you aware of the S.P.P.? Research it! Harper secretly (yes secretly)deals with American corporate leaders (Bush's buddies) to put laws in place to increase these corporations' influence and control over Canada's people, government and resources. The US administration doesn't have to invade Canada to rob us, Harper helps them do it!
This has been flagged as spam show
Harper is clearly an AGENDA man .. bolster the economy building prisons.. because they're such a great investment right ? .. but wait.. you need PEOPLE to put in PRISONS.. dont you ?.. Oh ,, where do we get people for new prisons , from .. Hmmmm Oh yeah .. ANYONE who falls under the wheels of the SYSTEM.

newf360 10 months ago
@newf360 First of all...the PC party is liberal in comparison to even the American democrats, which means its policies arent even close to what republican party and Bush attempted. How would the world look at us if we suddenly changed direction to liberal half way through a recession and raised taxes and spending even more, causing jobs and future business to choose other countries? At least write something informed next time
Ryantube007 10 months ago
LMAO you're an idiot! Harper is the best thing to happen to this country in decades! Our dollar is strong, our economy is stronger, and we have other prosperous countries wanting to do business with us. Where would we be with a Liberal Govt??? Think - the exact opposite of what I just said ... with higher taxes! Let the PC have their majority, and lets see what Harper can really do for this country. They're well on their way according to recent numbers
drexx101 10 months ago
@drexx101
I don't call that a strong economic plan.
icarus313 10 months ago
@drexx101
The Conservatives coasted through the recession because of Liberal policies and banking practices set in place by Paul Martin. Remember when the recession hit, and Harper/Flaherty were still insisting that zero-down, 40 year mortgages were a good idea, while the American economy was collapsing? Harper is spending us into oblivion, and as always, the Liberals will have to clean up his mess when he's arrested/shamed out of office.
telemov 10 months ago 2
@telemov I know your a blind liberal voter and would vote liberal even if mickey mouse was the candidate; however, you should know that it was Harper's government that got us through the recession and into one of the best economies in the WORLD!!! Paul Martin doesn't even deserve mention as he was voted out about as quickly as he was named PM. Ralph Goodale should seriously be your candidate for PM as he is about 2x smarter than Iggy and is WAY more public-friendly.
drexx101 10 months ago
@drexx101
I know insults and fantasies are what you blind Harper supporters do best, so I won't try to burst your little bubble with actual facts. When you're ready to read a history book or comprehend the Liberals' banking regulations that sheltered Canada from the recession, you'll figure it out on your own. Good luck.

You can't prove anything to anybody, let alone answer two basic questions. Mulroney spent us into record debt. Harper followed suit, after blowing a Liberal surplus and failing to deregulate our banking system. Sad how you kids today have no idea what you're even voting for.

telemov 9 months ago
@telemov OH yes Guru, speak the truth, I BELIEVE!!
As I'm going to say for the third time; Let's just see what happens in the next four years.
TheCreatorOf4 9 months ago
@TheCreatorOf4
-Harper tried to deregulate Canadian banks.
-Mulroney racked up a record debt.
Harper does.
telemov 9 months ago 3
@telemov You really want me to take your word for it then what, give you a hug for showing me the "light?"
Politics is not my life obsession. I might take the time to do my own research to see if you have your facts right and if it is anyone fault or care, but until then I'm pretty sure you are not an avatar of history or facts either.
Now if your done trying to prove something to someone you don't know, I'm waiting for more important messages.

what's wrong with more police & more cameras in public? if you don't want to be seen doing something in public, maybe you shouldn't be doing it.
hebber1961 3 years ago
Whats wrong with more cameras and police?? Are you serious?? The R.C.M.P are pretty much above the law right now. They investigate themselves of any wrongdoings and find no fault in thier actions and the matter gets swept away. 6 people have been killed by taser use in the past year( 2 Youths) and not one investigation found any wrongdoing of the officers involved, and they are still on patrol!!( This is normal in the States) "Those who would trade thier liberty for security deserve niether"
doggypound1 3 years ago
you're assuming alot there. I never said any of that. i'm not for police being above the law at all. Tasers are definitely a problem.
I'd love to see public cameras & more police. If there were police actually patroling, biking & walking, maybe there would be less shit going on.
hebber1961 3 years ago
You are right, I think I missed your point last time. But I think more cameras wont stop crime, it will just take place where there are no cameras. Im a federal corrections officer, and I work in a Max prison, The cameras are everywhere there, and inmates still find blindspots and other areas to conduct criminal behaviour. We are supposed to be living in a free society, and cameras every in public, makes me feel like an inmate. But I do understand your point, somthing has to be done.
doggypound1 3 years ago
prisoners are alot like kids. all they have to do all day is think about ways to get away with stuff & get what they want.
public cameras wouldn't bother me. half the population can film you on their cell phones now so you never know. they'd be used not just for deterrent but for evidence.
hebber1961 3 years ago
I still refuse to give up my sacred liberty to not be "spied" upon by big government. No matter how bad crime SEEMS, it still not as bad as the potential of government abusing this new power.
Trust me, politicians will use these powers(Federaly funded cameras in public places) to stay in office and not much else.
Good point about cell cameras though.
Can't argue much about that.

The "idiots" who voted green previously just got May a voice in the debates, and are now creeping up and past NDP which used to be the voice of Canada. Change is needed for a Country to survive.

May's policies are that of the most successful countries in the world today.
isgoanrain 3 years ago 3
When did the Liberals release a platform after they had majorities? Their "red books" got more vague after each successive election. What Bush antics has Harper used? The Green Party are just another version of the NDP. Give money to every little interest group and waste countless tax dollars on welfare programs and programs that will do nothing significant for the environment. I trust Harper way more than I do the other leaders.

These are the comments of a sheep.
That is a copout, end of story.
It's not all black and white.
hellaburns 3 years ago 3
If a 14 year old creates a heinous crime. Who's to know that they won't do it again? They should be punished. I agree with the previous poster. More leftist postings giving more rights to the criminals then the victims. Jail and punishment are supposed to be a deterrent. Harper will rid us of country club halfway houses and give victims more rights.
wink12345 3 years ago
In Harper's view, jail and punishment is not a deterrent; it is a life sentence. It takes away the innocent lively hood and lives of children. Jail is not rehabilitaion. Jail is dark and abusive, and can influence a child to be worse. We cannot let Canada become part of America; in policy, nor North American Union. The thing is, Harper loves criminals. He'll lock up the oppositional public, lock up a large percentage of the population, and privatize jails. Money, greed, hidden power: Harper.
nefa2ious 3 years ago
Complete BS. In the Liberals/NDP view jail is not a deterrent it's a country club where the criminals have more rights then the victims. A kid who viciously kills someone should be locked away for life. I don't want them living beside my family in 20 years when they're supposedly rehabilitated. It's not dark and abusive. Criminals like Paul Bernardo have cable tv with a remote in their cell. Canada will not become part of America. There would have to be a referendum. Harper has the best ideas!
wink12345 3 years ago
I don't even know where to start. - Youth in this county are judged differently because they are not as mentally or emotionally developed as adults and there is a greater chance that they will come to regret their criminal behavior. Furthermore, a punishment will only be perceived as *justice* by someone if injustices done upon them are addressed as well, like poverty or abuse. If a youth is truly just psychopathic, then they suffer from a mental disorder- putting them in prison solves nothing.
cunningangel 3 years ago
They are only talking about the most violent cases. Putting them in prison takes them out of society where they should be if they are sick. I'm sorry, sick or not sick if you kill someone deliberately you don't deserve to be in society. I don't want a former killer living next to me and my family. It's just common sense.

nefa2ious 3 years ago
When has he said he wants to privatize jails? Just complete fear mongering invention on your part. Give me one example. Muzzling opposition? Look at what former Prime Minister Chretien did to that one protester. Took him by the face. That's the Liberals. Your arguments are complete bull. Give me one fact that backs up any of this crap you're spouting. Prime Minister Harper will make this a better country. He believes in Capitalism, unlike the Liberals/NDP who are socialist communists.
wink12345 3 years ago
What is it with Tory supporters and leveling this "communist" charge again the NDP? Make you sound like a Republican. *rolls eyes*
Harpers 'get tough on crime' strategies will over crowd our prison system. New facilities for inmates will need to be built. There are people waiting in the wings to provide these services. Privatization of prisons is inevitable under a majority Harper gov't.
cunningangel 3 years ago
The idea is a deterrent. If people know that prison is a bad place to go they won't be as apt to commit a crime. The prisons will not be overcrowded. That is complete leftist bull. The criminals that deserve to be behind bars will be kept there. The NDP have a mentality that the big bad rich guys are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. They want to dole out public money for countless welfare programs. Sharing the wealth amongst everyone? Sounds a lot like communism to me.

Harper is breaking the law.
More?
shas1814 3 years ago
No I don't need more. Yes I know that it's not illegal to carry around small amounts of the drug. It's common sense that if you're carrying around large amounts you are a dealer. Harper is not arresting people carrying around a gram of marijuana nor will he. The ideology you're going towards will never work. So if it's legalized is it going to be carried in convenience stores? It's already hard enough to get legal cigarettes there. Harper is talking about repeat offenders and violent crimes.

Ok, I forgot to take into account medicinal purposes that allows you to carry more. Fact is legalization will never happen.

" Fact is legalization will never happen"
Then you have nothing to worry about, right?
Cool.
The near future will show what will be.
Peace.
'Bye

Same to you. I hope the near future will prove me right. Good bye.

You Hyprocrite!

Chrétien was behind the firing." "Private prisons were introduced to Canada by the former Ontario premier Mike Harris, who built Canada's first superjail at Penetaguishene, Ont. It is run by Management and Training Corporation (MTC) of Centreville, Utah. The Harper government now includes two of the most influential and right-wing of Harris' former cabinet ministers. Jim Flaherty is now federal finance minister and John Baird is treasury board president."
People keep giving you facts.
Are you listening?
Or merely HARPERing?
shas1814 3 years ago
Ok you've given proof. Where's this even from? I'm not "Harpering". I just think Harper will take this country in a better direction then the Liberals or the NDP. You seem to have this idea that we will be a free marijuana society if anyone other then Harper is elected. Marijuana IS a drug. It may be a plant but it contains THC which is a mind altering substance. It also involves smoking which Canadian society has been trying to regulate more and more. No government would go into this issue.

That's because they want a New World Order and to create the North American Union... They want the whole world in their hands under their laws!
