  • Thanks, SIr Rid.

  • If you didn't know Tony directed Top Gun - you don't know film making.

  • @normansmother1 While I agree about your conclusions on Orlando Bloom (to a degree), I hope you're overall referring to the theatrical cut of Kingdom of Heaven. If so, you NEED to watch the Director's Cut. In my opinion, it puts the film head and shoulders above Gladiator.

  • thid fucking bitch is probably in the virgo zodiac sign and ridley is in sagitarius sign so .how the fuck can they understand ech outher.....!?

  • Interesting Tid Bit.... Who directed TOP GUN?

noooo not Micheal Bay... nooo... Jerry Bruchemier was Producer.. Hears a hint.... Riddley Scott's brother.

YEP TONY SCOTT !.. now isnt it funny that such a great time honored blockbuster flick is so well know except for the person that directed it.

When was the last time you even saw any documentary featuring tony scott about TOPGUN? amazing isnt it.

  • @xevious2501 yeah nobody knew that thank you. and by the way there is an extraordinary documentary featuring tony scott on the top gun dvd set.

  • You what he's about to say something epic because he said "...Just fuckin' doing it..."

  • This page lagged a bit when it opened so I was treated with Ridley saying "Just fucking do it" twice.

  • @Batman8657 so... did you do it?

  • @monteoner He told me twice. I had no choice. :(

  • I am so excited for this fantastic project. I will be at the kick off tonight although Sir RS won t be there. Very curious to just look into this and be present.

And to have these searchlab vids playing in my website so we can listen to this "JUST FUCKING DO IT" mastermind over and over again.Marvelous,wicked,inspiring.Adorable and almost cruel so sharp his blades are.Lol.Ridley @ heart. Cheers!

  • he doesnt answer his own question: why have movies budgets got sooo massive since the Duellists?

  • this bitch is so stupid dos not understanda single think about wat ridley is talwking about she just sits there and fucvking smiles because shesgeting paid.....

  • @epicvlas

First of all, learn how to spell.

  • a ridley scott western would be pretty great.

  • This is such an inspiring interview.

  • Ridley is such a realist. Love this guy.

  • ahhhhhhh what a relief to hear such a talented man/director explain his thought process......brilliant!

  • He is so lucky because his career developed almost effortlessly - he was always at the right place and time. Not to say he is not talented, but he went from A, to B, to C, as if it was a given. For most people, it's a struggle just get to A, which is to say, "getting started". And then his Brother, just walks in, and becomes a Director - some people have all the luck.

  • @duinay2

The cream rises to the top, if you're a good artist your work will be noticed eventually by the right people.

  • He's in good shape for 70 years old, eh?

  • @TreyRoque your right he looks awesome for 70, lets hope he stays healthy and makes a lot more great movies

  • Visual genius. He has a great eye as he says.

  • she's horny for Ridley : p

  • ALIEN was a scary movie but COMMON PURPOSE is scariest!

  • what a memory he's got, great director, great artist

  • @directorlog a great memory usually comes if you're overall a visual person.

  • Phenomenal director.

  • How ironic, a guy renowned for the quality of the 'look' of everything he does, has been filmed REALLY TERRIBLY!! Interesting though.

  • haha dont laugh mate, those guys are filmschool students, well presumably be watching there crap in a decade lol

  • You tourist want a Mind Foke A L E X J O N E Adam Curtis Ridley did you just say you Sold Out? 17:25

  • 'I've done over 2,500 commercials.' (Ridley's favourite saying...that and 'Back off!) LOL!

  • I just love how chill and laid back he is! For a guy that's done so much he treads through it all like it was a walk in the park, lol!

  • I really like on his his DVD commentaries that hes just sitting there eating food with the mike on haha.

'This bit we shot..omnomnomnom...over 2 days'

  • Hi,

Does anybody know where the second part is?

    I can not find it.

  • Great interview. Ridley Scott is curiously great in his interviews.

I say curiously because he seems like a grumpy SOB.

  • You seem like an ASSHOLE!

  • I think its his down to earth, yeah whatever lets just do it, Britishness.

  • THanks for sharing the lecture. THese are great!

  • that interviewer is a good-looking woman

  • its very good men

  • Ridley, time is running out.. Make another sci-fi film before you croak.

  • lol, good first sentence

  • He gives the best DVD commentaries.

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit. this guys 71. he looks like hes 50 max!!

  • plastic surgery?

  • my dad is like this. he's 65 now but he looks great. he didn't even start really aging or looking old until the last couple years.

  • érotisme

  • ledgend

  • I believe he did Blade Runner, that was his best film.

  • Sheogorath64,

What about 'alien' ?? To me that's a milestone in Ridley Scott's career. And a milestone in itself, for that matter.

  • Well, he only got up to speaking about "The Duelists" so far.

"Alien" was still in the future at that time.

  • damnit Klaus, you're right, it was a good film. But Bladerunner is still my favorite.

  • Sheogorath64,

I think Bladerunner is your fav, because you fancy a female cyborg for yourself, right?

Seriously: I got the Alien dvd box set which includes a great 'making of' documentary with lot's of Ridley Scott footage as well. Just as entertaining as the movie itself.

  • Hmm, I almost bought that but the $30.00(i think) pricepoint scared me. I would like a femal cyborg with all the working parts.

  • It is, isn't it? Did you see the one when the actor (can't remember his name...should be ashamed of myself) played the android in Aliens and how he talked about how he had to practice that knife game so many times? I laughed throughout the whole thing.

Especially when the black guy that was leading the team of Marines in the second film said that he hoped they chose him for his acting ability, not for his military experience, when two minutes later people said they chose him 'cause the exp!

  • rotnem07825, you're referring to AlienS, which was directed by James Cameron.

I was referring to Alien, which was directed by Ridley.

I'm not sure I've seen that making of documentary on Aliens though... I sure would like to see it.

  • So was I, in the first sentence. They are great documentaries, and you certainly get your money's worth. Such as you find out that the actress that played as Ridley was going to be cut out because Fox didn't want to pay her demanded sum. But because everyone said that she was crucial to the next film's success Fox had to dig into their pockets a bit deeper and paid her. It was excellent!

  • Ridley is a excellent director

  • chupa pollas

  • shame hes not going to make another Alien movie after that bombshell AVP.

  • I cant wait to see his next movie everytime!

I love his photography style which is usually starts with a wide shot then goes in to zoom and better details!

  • That's actually a pretty standard master-coverage method.

But yes, Ridley is a fantastic director.

  • Excellent director.

This guys is supposed to be 71!? He doesn't look a day over 52!

  • He's active, doesn't have enough time to wait for the age to kill him ;)

But Ridley Scott is my favorite director, have produced movies I think are lovely, such as Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down...

Body of Lies was an OK movie, not great but it was decent. Looking forward to Tripoli. Seems to be awesome!

He said that "Crusades" are going through his head, what the--- He have only produced 1 movie about 'em and it was 4 years ago.

    Thanks for the video!

  • He's a good director, but best director is a little much don'tcha think? He's good at what he does though.

  • Ridley is a excellent director

  • I just watched Kingdom of Heaven, one of the best period movies I have seen. I was searching for the history of Saladin when U tube showed this movie.

  • she's hot

  • No human being needs to create so much media!

  • Iiiiii get it -- I get it. Kingdom of Heaven IS Crusades, the movie that Swarzenegger was gonna make for several years back in the 1990's. That's amazing.

  • Great Interview with a greater Director. Thanks for posting.

  • wait a minute, tripoli??, how old is this interview?

  • Well it will be before Kingdom of Heaven, because he is talking about the film tripolli which stalledin pre production the first time and he made KOH instead. So i would guess early 2004

  • Interestingly, a future welfare recipient who's showing her white-trash ass can get half a million views, and this legendary filmmakers video gets less then 3,000? Oh the humanity!

    Speaks volumes.

  • There is something profoundly wrong going on, when a lengthy and highly educational/interesting Ridley Scott interview receives comments related to computer games. Huh? You complete and absolute buffoons! Are you dolts even picking up some of the fabulous concepts and highly applicable lessons he's giving away for...umm...free!?

  • Has anyone ever played that game "Assasin's Creed?" what if you add more character depth and let R.S. make the movie?

  • Played it and hated it, but like everyone else, thought it would be a cool story to see in the big screen. I believe their were rumors that the game was in talks to be adapted into a movie. Anyways, yes needs more character. I felt that the story was rushed. His character arc changed so quickly.
