That's great that you've started feeling better already! I'll be starting an antidepressant (hopefully) in a couple months, so hoping the medication fits, that's pretty encouraging. :-)
I don't understand this. How can a drug treat a psychological disorder. If they are giving these drugs to make people "happy" then why not just prescribe medical cannabis?
@AlexanderMazarakis Do some research, if you advocate medical cannabis to alter a persons moods, why would you feel differently about anti-psychotics? There are chemicals in the human brain that can be altered by certain medications.
@crazyladylocks I did do some reaserch and i discovered that anti-psychotics are clinically proven to lower life expectancy, decrease brain volume, lower white blood cell count, and cause permanent chemical dependence (meaning that without the drug your symptoms become worse then before you took it so you better get used to those side effects).
@crazyladylocks Im not trying to start a youtube war but I think people advocating cannabis is a valid position because these drugs that are being sold and marketed* to us have much more drastic potential side effects (perhaps the most terrifying for the many people on these drugs being an increase in desire for suicide or a manic episode that could lead to it). Cannabis is not a better way of placating these psychological challenges but it is less dangerous (and less addictive)
Write to Dr. Mark Frye at mfrye@mayo.edu and ask him about the side effects of Abilify - - he's the former medical consultant to Bristol Myers Squibb. Or write directly to sonia.choi@bms.com - - she's the spokesperson for BMS - - she has all of the inside information on the side effects. Good luck getting either one of them to speak!
Hello there. One question comes to mind: If you are scared of people touching you, how did you manage to get your lip pierced? I have my septum (nose) pierced, my tongue, and 2 I can't mention here. It took a lot of bravery to have them done, and I can't imagine HOW you did it! But kudos to you. BTW, I'm starting Abilify today, first day, for depression. Hope to let you know how I'm doing! ~Molly
@blackberrybunny Oddly, i get that question a lot.. my piercings were done by a friend who wore latex gloves and never actually touched my skin. my fear of being touch is only partly due to proximity and partly due to the anxiety of the impending rash, knowing they are wearing gloves(or other barriers) helps relax the itchy fear :) the fact that i really enjoy pain.. it also helps trump the fear of being touched. Hope the Abilify works for you Molly! I continue to advocate it.
AkathisiA from abilify ... looks like depression "Cure" cause you can"t stay still. Depressed but have to move around cause of this -Wicked- feeling of ants under your skin pushing your muscles to move .
Thats why the "studies" show increased "activity" ? in depressed patients. -AkathisiA-
ABILIFY: Some side effects include uncontrollable twitching or jerking movements, tremors, seizure, and weight gain. Some people also feel dizzy, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position, or may experience a fast heart rate. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (combination of fever, muscle stiffness, faster breathing, sweating, reduced consciousness, and sudden change in blood pressure and heart rate) is another side effect as is suicidal thinking and suicide attempts.
Abilify stabilized my mood but it made me so overwhelmingly tired. I have borderline and depression. I'm on Lamictal 100 mg and Effexor. I get a little tired or sick to my stomach but before I was on the pills I threw fits and was suicidal, was paranoid everyone I knew would abandon me... Now I'm pretty chill, just a normal nerd mostly.
Please take the Satanistic picture down and get him out of your life. He causes bad things to go through a mind, even minds that are not already mixed up. I wish you well!!!
@Windjammersetters Satanistic picture? do you mean the picture in the background of my video? The Blood Elf from World of Warcraft? It's from a Video Game.. but thanks for judging my personal taste in decor :(
@crazyladylocks My mother is on abilify and she is old and I am worried. They say it is not a good drug. But every person is different. Could you please let me know how it works out for you. My mother only started this about a couple of weeks ago.
@Windjammersetters Dude, it's from a video game. And you can't blame a mental disorder on Satan. I have borderline personality disorder because my dad abandoned me and depression because my brain doesn't produce enough serotonin, not because of Satan.
@HaDagesh I blame All the bad stuff that's going on in the world on satan! He's usually the root cause of many terrible and long-lasting tyrannies throughout history. I hate the bastard but I love Christ more;) By the way I have a mental illness too and can understand what you are going through.
Makes me wired, lose weight, loss of appetite, gets rid of depression/anxiety......fukin wondering drug for me.......hell of a lot better than Zyprexa.......-_-...i know, but it's the lesser of two evils.......
Honestly I HATED abilify it made me sleepy, increase appetite, more depressed, and loss of creativity. I told the lady that when I went on it I felt like I lost a superpower. I felt like a zombie.. It was good at first for a bout 2 weeks but I think that is just the PLACEBO effect. but eh for some people it may be different.
Been on abilify for 1 year now. It really calms me down when having these bipolar espisodes ...when I am really happy and stuff. But, the raging heart still goes on. NOthing to do with my extreme shyness, but with the meds itself. NOt sure if your heart goes faster with abilify. Well, I hope better meds will come out or newer studies which can cure schizophrenia, bipolar and social phobia.

It must have been awkward getting your lip pierced? Did you break out when you got it pierced? I'm just curious. I'm terrified of needles, but I've got tattoos. Makes ya wonder sometimes
I take abilify as well, though to relieve my symptoms of psychosis, severe depression and insomnia... Yet it didn't really helped the fact that I hear voices that don't exist.. Actually it made it worse. I'm on Abilify as an add-on for my medications on depression. I take 20 mg a day... I hope everything works out for you you're such a sweet girl :)
The doc is taking me off abilify today. It didn't help my depression and it made me feel like I'd had too much coffee or something. Hope it works better for others.
My doc is going to start me on abilify today. I've heard so many horror stories about it I had changed my mind till I saw your post. I think I'll try it and hope it works as well for me. Thanks
you seem such a lovely and pleasant person....I can hardly believe that you suffer from social anxiety :), but I completely understand what you are going through...... I hope you recover soon, keep my fingers crossed for you. Hugs and Kises!!!!
