  • Crosby haters...I see in this capture of musical history an honest visual exposure of Roger, Chris AND David....WHAT is your point?!..SERIOUSLY?...ENJOY what was a brilliant time that will never come again

  • FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • way too much crosby... it's irritating and he doesn't deserve to be shown so much after giving such a bad performance. why the hell do we need to see him if he's not even singing? i also hate his hat. it does not work for him.

  • Best American band ever along with The Beach Boys ; unequivocal

  • this is something amazing. those were the days!!!

  • So young and still thinking about future.......

  • Thanks for posting this.one of my all time favourites.

  • The song is still relevant.Awsome!

  • Coolest band.

  • geile sonnenbrillen o.o

  • oh dave. is he sober enough to see how he's not in russia?

  • It's a pity that Dave's egocentric rantings spoiled this, one of the best Byrds live performances. He's a great songwriter and singer, but Jeez - harmonies, man!

  • @DoctorBohr i think hes just showing roger that hes a far better singer

  • How come every Damn video of the orginal Byrds has more closeups of David then the rest of the band put together?

  • @decemberschild1217 i noticed that too... he's the last one i want to see.

  • crosby great harmony...

  • @79goldmaster1 he's just so stoned. hadn't figured it out yet. listen to this then Four Way Street. He definitely was no less high but learnt to sing much better live with time.

  • @AnOldFellowship They were all probably buzzed.....Clark had already left by this video....The best songwriter in the Byrds by far IMO.

  • Looks like Monterey Pop festival June 67?

  • @Anglynn74 I guess it is

  • @Anglynn74 Yep, that it is...The Monterey Pop Festival, back in '67.

THe ByRDS then, was a quartet, after Gene Clark(1944-1991) left the group...

(but returned after David Crosby was let go by the band)

Featuring Jim(Roger) McGuinn - 12-string Rickenbacker guitar, lead vocal

    Chris Hillman - bass, vocal

David Crosby - rhythm guitar, vocal

    Michael Clarke(1946-1993) - drums

  • These men were not just playing this song, they were meaning it!!! Freedom is a thing that is fragile and fleeting.

  • Classic Crosby. He was on fire that weekend. At least.

  • @ BenjaminWirtz Type the following words into the search bar: "Eight." "Miles." And "High."

  • McGuinn's vocal is extra superb on this.

  • The intro music sounds exactly that of "Turn, turn, turn" do all Byrds songs start the same way?

  • @BenjaminWirtz No it doesnt; no they don't.

  • BECAUSE HE'S THE ONE WITH THE MOST CHARISMA AND THE PRONUNCIATION OF PERFECTION !!!

  • with all due respect to the Chris Hillman fans he is no Gene Clark. Compare this version to the slightly earlier Mcguinn/Clark /Crosby harmonies and THEN compare THAT to Crosby/Nash/Stills.... Mcguinn IS and Clark WAS....

  • I think one mike was not working. Saw Mike Bloomfield's performance of "Wine" from this concert. He & the bass player were shouting "WINE, WINE, WINE.." but nothing was coming out on the PA

  • Chris Hillman cannot be heard on the refrain. On all the songs from Monteray Pop, only 2 part harmony with Crosby and McGuinn can be heard. Was the sound mix that bad?

  • Strange how Chris Hillman is in shadow and they mainly show the back of his head. He hardly gets to sing and he has the best voice of all of them!

  • Chris Hillman has a better voice than Crosby???!!!

  • @edwina9 No, he doesn't.

  • Very nice Bob Dylan song, Great performance EXELLENT BYRDS !!

  • this is something amazing. those were the days!!!

  • does the entire byrds set from this concert exist on video??

  • @sentaikat

No, just Chimes of Freedom, He was a Friend of Mine and Hey Joe. I was there trying to move up to the middle $5 seats when my next door neighbor who was working as an usher stopped me from moving up:( Not recorded on the DVD were Renaissance Fair, Have You Seen Her Face and So You Want to be a Rock & Roll Star with Hugh Masekela on trumpet & drummer(s). Was disappointed that they didn't play Turn, Turn or Tambourine Man but Crosby said, "Hey The Times They Are a Changing". How True.
