  • i have the same problems with my radeon hd 5750

  • Happy to report this bug is fixed in the leaked Windows 8 builds. Seems they're just content to leave it for Windows 7.

DWM in W8 seems to work very differently under the hood. System requirements are far lower to get compositing (and by extension, Aero/glass stuff) to work -- you don't even need any hardware acceleration at all. I had it running Aero in Virtualbox. Awesome.

  • you are holding down the shit key fucking fruit cake!!!!!!

  • this is why i still use vista, it has smooth aero.

    Fuck the windows 7

  • i actually think the slowed down animation is cool lol :)

  • Those who r facing windows 7 aero lag eg flip 3d.... open start menu type Magnifier click on it move the mouse a little bit on the screen and just close the magnifier program YUR LAG SHOULD BE GONE NOW why beacuze its a windows bug this time microsoft created buggy windows vista has no problems ...... Tell me if lag is gone ...

  • i think its fixed on my comp by sheer luck... had disabled all animation effects to make it less noticeable (just the animation) in advanced system settings, i then just enabled everything on the list and its gone now... i dunno know how and why but haven't encountered it since the past 4 days. using sapphire 5670, with ati whql driver 8.791.

  • LOL works FINE on my little inspiron 560 with intergrated graphics and a pentium duel core inside. LOL

  • @117buster this problem doesn't show up with integrated graphics...

  • ITS NOT LAG YOU CAN SLOW IT DOWN...with a little doing in the registry editor and hold the shift key

  • Rofl pro windows 7 :D

  • cool i can do slow motion aero 2 thats not a glitch u changed that in registry and u held down shift

  • your computer must just be shit

  • me too , i think i had disabled the transparency to stop that lag

my pc had 1.5gb ram and ati x200

  • I have the same problem on top system...wtf

i7 GTX295 6gb RAM i hope this will be fixed!

btw i just removed this animation in settings...

  • Same issue here. Windows 7 64bit, GeForce 9600 GT, Core i9, SSD

  • Thats possible if u have a unbelievable graphics card

  • I have this problem, phenom x4 995, 4gbs 800mz ddr2, bfg gtx 285 etc etc. top of the line system. Guess we're waiting till sp2.

  • hope they will fix it....

  • similar specs here but with ddr3 1600mhz ram. i think its a flaw in the animation not the system itself. maybe microsoft just didnt notice. it will probebly be fixed with sp1.

  • Same issue here, no matters the hardware or drivers.

  • Same problem here, with GF 9800 GT and Windows 7 x64.

    Win 7 sucks bad...

  • Just because of this animation? I don't think so. Windows 7 is a great operating system.

  • I didn't say it sucks only because of this animation. It doesn't cone up with anything new since vista. The "Windows Virtual PC" didn't work for me untill i patched bios (it couldn't detect if my procesor supports vistualization), while the old "Virtual PC 2007" worked on Vista without any changes. The new taskbar isn't anything innovative, OS X had it's dock for years... "Aero Snap" also isn't anything new for compiz users.... Oh, and "Seven" is slower than Vista, at least for me.

  • @ivkos i agree with you

  • @ivkos Have to agree, best yet, but this is quite annoying.

  • @RadishRaiser no your pc is messed up because my win 7 runs like a dream

  • @killerxhuljan Sure, even after 7's fresh install

  • @RadishRaiser windows 7 has some bugs microsoft need to fixe it thorugh service pack or something otherwise belive me its better than windows vista... vista need more powerfull hardware than 7...

  • It happens to me if holding shift while closing the window...weird, but no glitches at all on amd board and radeon x700

  • Weird I dont have the problem.. running win 7 ultimate Intel onboard graphic card

  • Could you record it and post on YT ?

I believe you, but I just want to see win 7 without ths bug...

  • Ill try..

  • Will there ever be a fix or will Microsoft tell us "Wait 3 years until Windows 8 is coming out"??? There was time enough to fix it, almost one year!!! Issue is known since Beta in January. It is not a driver problem, it is not a problem caused by slow graphic cards, Windows 7 Aero is the problem! No more lame excuses, just fix it! Vista in 2006 could do that animation and I expect that Seven I bought in 2009 can do the animation, too. Pretty please with sugar on top, fix it!

  • A comment about my video in a forum: "If you look at this HD video, it appears this guy has the problem and didn't slow the video down. Watch the CPU meter in the top right, it's updating every 1 second while the slow fade-in/fade-out is occurring".

    - That's right, there's a registry hack I've done in Windows Vista/7 to slow down Aero animations when you hold the left Shift key.

  • Everybody with Win7 has this issue, just people coming from XP or did not use Aero in Vista won't notice it :-)

  • Would you please do a slow motion video while you open and close a window? I just wanna see a Win7 without stuttering with my own eyes. Thx.

  • fucking microsoft cant fix a small issue since beta - rtm , my next comp is a mac.

vista animation is way smoother than 7.

  • the same happen to me, ati hd4850, rtm version build 7600

  • +1 with final version and nVidia GTX280, all driver version tested (even last beta). This is annoying.

  • I got the same problem - GeForce 7300LE, latest drivers.

  • Much better video than mine :) Any idea how to contact someone from Microsoft about this?

  • Thank you! :)

There was a Send Feedback link in Beta/RC versions of 7, but not anymore. :(
