  • No other nation wanted near the Olympics in 1984. Montreal was going broke paying for all the facilities from 1976. Los Angeles took it on and it was EPIC. We attended the fencing events and saw the US take the first fencing medal ever (bronze) by Peter Westbrook. The Europeans were great as usual (even though USSR boycotted). At the start of the individual finals, the trumpeters came out and played the fanfare. Fantastic Thanks for the posting and thanks to John Williams, the Master.

  • John Williams is amazing

  • @BuffaloPhump Indeed.

  • we're playing/mastering this piece in wind ensemble and after listening to this, we're playing it way too slow.....

  • This is an absolute masterpiece. Well done John Williams.

  • Happy Birthday John Williams....

  • Whether it's the Olympic Fanfare, Superman theme, Indiana Jones theme, or countless other great pieces, Williams is tops! Always gets me fired up for competition.

  • I thought JW only made film music. This is pretty good.

  • @BlueLeopard200 Well, he also wrote some television scores and theme tunes. Yes, John Williams wrote the NBC News theme music package "The Mission" with some cuts being heard currently on "The Today Show", the "NBC Nightly News" and "Meet the Press". He also composed the theme music to "NBC Sunday Night Football". He also wrote some concert music as well.

  • @dondonp12004 Sound the Bells is a concert piece of his.

  • @legionify That's 'Krypton' with a 'K,' not a 'C.'

  • @dondonp12004 thx for correction ,i am tying to learn well speaking and writing english

  • @legionify You are welcome.

  • @dondonp12004 your name should be sheldon cooper;-)

  • @Disturbiagarfield No, that is impossible.

  • @legionify You are doing fine. Thank you.

  • @Broadsidejohn Yes fine thank you what about you John do you enjoy your life

  • @dondonp12004 Yeah............... dumb ass !

  • @NELSONDODGERFAN Hope you are agreeing with what I said to Disturbiagarfield instead of calling me names, which is more than just bad but something I don't blame you for.

  • John Williams is indeed the man.

  • John Williams es un auténtico genio

  • funny :p 720p but the olympic rings are still blurry :p Great song though! John Williams will surely live on to get a hall of famer like Bach, Holst, and Beethoven.

  • @prizes99live Sorry to hear about the blurs. Thanks for posting!

  • Memorable Summer games of Los Angeles and it's theme, that has become the fanfare of all Olympics!

  • WOK WM :)

  • did john Williams write the lost in space theme for the television series?

  • @karomshot Yes. Though he was credited as 'Johnny Williams' at the time of the original 1960s series.

  • i feel like i need to go win something...for america

  • Just jizzed myself DX

  • Jesus. Williams wrote this too? Is there a single piece of stellar orchestral music in pop culture in the last 30 years that he didn't write. Genius doesn't even begin to describe

  • @thewalrusaurus Yes, he did. John Williams composed the Olympic Fanfare for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Summer Games. It's all in my description.

  • @thewalrusaurus Yes, there is stellar orchestral music in the last 30 years that he didn't write. Search for Basil Poledouris - Lonesome Dove Theme 89, or Conan the Barbarian Main Theme (Anvil of Crom). Love both Williams and Basil.

  • goosebumbs...

  • And I've got to play this on Thursday!! (1st clarinet is petrified D:)

  • French horn player here... unfortunatly i'm the only one in my local band and am constantly drowned out by trumpets... Great to hear them here!

Can't wait to perform this piece especially with the London games coming up.

  • lol 226:0

  • WOOT! French Horns stealing the show again! awesomeness.....

  • OMG I AM PLAYING THIS IN A CONCERT ON THE ALTO HORN pumped!

  • John Williams is superb! The Roman Empire and the US are just one in this magnificent fanfare! More than 2 thousand years have passed, but the spirit is quite the same! Along the History, nations reincarnate as well, as we do as individuals. Ave!

  • @ChristieLove117 I hope you did well in you audition!

Mr. Williams would want your name to *SHINE*!

  • I didn't know that John Williams was composed the main title of Summer Olympiad 1984. G E N I A L !!!!!

  • @ChristieLove117 i know how you feel i play sax, best of luck

  • If you listen to this while walking down a street, when the bass comes in at 0:15 you feel like GOD

  • I want this music playing when I run in slow motion along a beach.

  • thanks for posting.. brings back memories from playing this in high school. I had the pleasure of playing 1st clarinet on this.

  • @ChristieLove117 With pleasure. Enjoy.

  • @ChristieLove117 Best of luck and thanks for sharing.

  • Takes me back to 1984 whenI was 8 and watching the Olympics in my home town of L.A. So cool!!!

  • John Williams is my hero

  • Hahaha! Zero dislikes, just as it should be!!!

  • This song makes me want to run in slow motion.

  • John Williams is truly without equal. This theme brings a tear to my eye, and for no particular reason! It's simply powerful music.

  • I remember hearing this being played in the Olympic Coluseum at the 84 Olympic Games. To this day I get goose bumps hearing it. It is so POWERFUL and MAJESTIC, I can imagine it as a royal entrance march for any monarch in history; and I have to admit that I have never heard an orchestra play it as perfectly as this original recording.

  • thank you i actualy am 13 and plaied this song on euphonium and it was amazing thanks for the video

  • @zman0333 You are welcome!

  • @TheNBAprodigy How rude! I am not a black person! Please watch your mouth!

  • @dondonp12004 Oh wow, that was really rude indeed, TheNBAprodigy!

    Also a little harsh maybe..

  • @Biotektan Pardon my mouth, but then again, when the phrase 'shut up' is said in the United States of America, that phrase does not always mean 'be quiet', but also 'gee-whiz,' 'unbelievable,' 'I did not know that,' etc.

  • You can never go wrong with a fanfare!

  • @djdman111 duuuuude same here!!!!! i am pumped to play this!!!!

  • I play trumpet and I have a concert tomorrow. My ensemble is ending with this. I'm understandably pumped.

  • @djdman111 Best of luck!

  • @djdman111 Fantastic piece. Your concert must have been terrific.

  • Who evr disliked this must hav thought the buttom said dis i like

  • I'm getting ready to be deployed to Assist in Japan, as my Unit started arriving I played this in briefing room, and I tell the look my Teams face, Picked up Big Time!

  • As a mexican I remember the 2 gold medals gotten by Ernesto Canto and Raul Gonzalez in 20k and 50k walk respectively...also gives me goosebumps.

  • This is one of the best from John Williams. I remember the 84 Olympic Games from Los Angeles, it was fantastic. And it was there, that John Williams enhanced the Olympic Theme. It still gives me goose bumps to this day, when I hear it.

    Thanx, dondonp12004, for this piece.

I can hardly wait for 2012!

  • @azrielarn My pleasure.
