What you need to do to beat Ruby is go into the battle with 1 person. Make sure you have w-item on. And all you need to do is keep using elixir and hero drink, and just let your guy counter. I had 19 mastered counters and it took me pretty quick
@kingjoms You can't mime another character's limit; you can only mime the character's own. I assume that's your problem. Otherwise, it should (read: has to) work. Make sure it was the last action done by a member of your party.

@Canute87 Notice all the Counter then Mime materia. Counter uses the materia it's paired with to counter attack. In this case, its mime, which copies the last action done. Just use the limit break once, and you're pretty much set. I used the Hero drink too just because it raises a random stat by 20 just to help the process move along.

not if you have the Guide Book which you will get by morphing the battleship under Junon, after getting the Guide Book you have to go to Kalm (near Midgar) and give it to the old man and he will give you the underwater materia. when you eguip the underwater materia and fight Emerald, the clock is not there and you will have all the time in the world to defeat Emerald
@fondare actually it doesn't take that long buddy, i did the exact same strategy from this video... made 8 mastered mimes and 16~ mastered counters (thanks to the crossroads cloning) in about 4-5 hours of pure triple growth swamp grinding. by the way this works beautifully, after the mimes are triggered you can pretty much grab your popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show, but not for long! that thing dies pretty fast! :D
He is using the PC version of FF VII which has a time clock that goes 3 seconds slower than normal. thats why you see the obnoxious mime materia and has doubles of every materia in the game as well as 10mil in 35:15 =_=
Its simple to make that much so fast. If you are proficient in the game you can make it to the Northern Cave on Disc 3 super quick, and use the W-Item Glitch to mass produce elixir's, and then go into the swamp area and wear Double or Triple growth items, then kill the Magic Pots that give you 1000AP each. You master your All materias in no time, which are 1.4mil each.
i think its because hes got more than 1 mime materia equipped. eg if youve got 2 mime materia you mime twice, if you have 3 you mime 3 times and so on. Am i right MAJICBOB?
You might not have been able to. You can easily reach disc 3 in 12 hours and 20 hours is more than enough time to get a chocobo and level up your characters and materia if you know where to go.

he sped through the game to the northern crater and believe me it dont take long to get there if your fast enough then he had double and triple growth weapons and used elixers on magic pots or got bouncey red balls that give 900 ap each

I could be wrong but have you tampered with your game to achieve that time? Your materia set-up would work but during the battle the timer was going extremely slow. Plus your video timer said the battle lasted about 3 minutes, AND the music was wrong, it sounded similar but definitely wasn't the original. Care to explain?
ok, you may think that you beat it in 2 min. consider this: if you don't cheat, howlong do you spend to master those materias? that is the most dumpest way to beat it. There are lots of easier ways(you don't even have to spend that long and you don't even have to master any materia)
not really since it takes work to get to that level. the amount of time to max stats takes time. masterin materia not as much, but this is far away from such things as usin cheat codes o gamesharks.

I knew there was something wrong with the PC timer. Supposedly I finished the game (Defeating Emerald and Ruby) with aprox. 24 hours. I guess it must have been something around 60-70 hours then.
u chat monkeys u didnt cheat. u spend WAY WAY WAY too long playin ur file man. i played 62 hours n i beat ruby and emerald just using mime, knights of da round table, phoenix and final attack.
You get it in the Ancient forest next to Cosmo Canyon. You can either kill Ultima Weapon in disc 3 and get it the (which is pointless), or you could do what I did, and breed Chocobo's, get a mountain Chocobo, get in your airship, Land as close to Cosmo Canyon as you as you can, and simply ride your Chocobo into the Ancient Forest.
i prolly played 150 hours but there's something wrong with the timer, and it only showed like 40 hours
the minutes are ULTRA slow... like the more you play, the slower the clock counts or something. so i don't think he's cheating, but this is the PC version, and it sometimes just doesn't do the time properly. (my version WAS back in 98 though so i dunno)
actually yes, something I've personally experimented with. Just find the Final Attack Materia, and combine it with Pheonix Materia, then, whenever who equips it dies, then you'll yous Pheonix as a final attack before you kick the bucket, and since Pheoniz revives all characters and to full HP, but it also hits the enemy.
wow.... you are a total noob. you have to use gameshark to do all that stuff. your hours are not in coordination with the time of gameplay. that was 100% game shark. If you want I can show you my videos where I do that legitly. I have 351 hours of play and I only mastered knights of round twice and my whole party is 99 including those who are on PHS. you are a disgrace to those who play FF7. It was pretty obvious you must've used the w-item dupe glitch for the hero drinks too.
i know how to beat emerald weapon faster too... you must have a character with hp 7777 and the mime materia... another character with W-summon and Knights.
When the character with hp 7777 finishes, the one with Knights uses it and the one with 7777 uses mime until you win
Actually, he probably fought Movers and Pots in the North Crater, they give a lot of exp and AP, plus he had XP Plus, and he probably utilized double and triple Materia growth. I know it's possible, since I have played 30 hrs just on Disc One, and I'm at level 50 already with Cloud.
Once you get mime, EVERYTHING is easier. :P I myself am a die hard ff7fan, and even I'm impressed. Also, another good tip to anyone is to get the w-item materia. Trust me, it worth it to get! Search for its glitch, you can create copies of items in your inverntory easily with it^^

You might not have been able to. You can easily reach disc 3 in 12 hours and 20 hours is more than enough time to get a chocobo and level up your characters and materia if you know where to go.

1. He didnt use gameshark or he'd have a lot of money other than 800mil gil
2. There probably is other characters with 99 but he decided to train cloud and yuffie.
3. The video is a little laggy which explains the clock speed
4. Angermax is Ungarmax (ungarmax is japanese version of Angermax)

It's the PC version.
Barret's limit is "Ungarmax" in the PSX version, wheras it's "Angermax" in the PC one, which is the same here.

I only have 24 hours and all my characters are at their maximum level 3 Limit Breaks (for example, Cloud is at Finishing Touch) on Disc One. ;)

When you Master a peice of Materia it creates a new peice.
Also to the person who did this, boost Barrets attack by using Power Sources in that sunken ship. Nice job, haven't touched FFVII in years though
