Also, I know that this isn't anything to do with the uploader (so no offence intended) but the subtitles are really bad so I want to clear up the worst mistake which is "Elle". The subtitles say "Elle" but it's actually "L", which is why at first they ask why Ataru and Lum (Ataru and L) are getting married even though they are already fuufu (husband & wife). Also, when they ask "Elle?" "Is that a name?" it's because just "L" doesn't seem like a name.

What makes the movie an occasional pain isn't the references to german weapons.

It's the occasional Nazi uniform reference, or swastika. However, that doesn't make him necessarily evil, or antisemitic, or anything else - Japan WAS allied with Germany. It WAS a lot closer to the war at the time.

The taboos are just different. I'm not always COMFORTABLE with it - I'm Jewish. It's a bit... ugh... - but I don't think anyone should leap to conclusions over it.

Plus, the movie is good. :)

I have a 'Nazis German national flag' and a book "My struggle" which Adolf Hitler wrote.

They are not banned in Japan.

As you know, Japan needed a good and strong companion.

So Japan planned to establish Jew's country between China and Russia.

Japan saved hard Jewish people's lives and wealth: who had lived long in Russia or China.

Hitler was always angry with Japan.

But please notice that Japan was a good companion of Nazis Germany.

So Japanese people don't hate Nazis' symbol.

@dragon8writer If it's anything to you, the swatiska is not a Nazi invention but had been around the Middle East for millenia and used in temples and synagogues(sp?) many times because the meaning of the swatiska is luck. Even an American army unit had swatiskas on their uniforms in WWI. I really don't like it when people don't know they're own history or the history of their beliefs. Heck the Isrealis haven't changed their main occupation for 4k+ years, kill your neighbors.

FFS for just being intrested in military tech dosent make anybody a nazi. It is same to say that all german soldiers are nazis, all russian soldiers are communists and all american soldiers are democrats?! Besides, germans have produced some pretty amazing military hardware so I wouldn't blame Oshii for bringing up german-origin weapons in his references.
