I found another way to stun him without making it transform...stagger it using 2 Saboteurs! This is especially useful if you have 5 ATB Gauges. If you keep on debuffing him in rapid succession, he'll stagger.
I use Fang, Vanille and Sazh and I use the Paradigm, Espionage (which is SAB-SAB-SYN). After he's staggered, switch to Relentless Assult and beat the life out of him. The other guy is a joke so don't worry about him.

For those having issues with him transforming early, I thought of a way to explain it more clearly. Behemoth will transform after he takes a pre-defined amount of damage. So if he is transforming early its because you're letting Light hit him too much. Her physical dmg is high, but the spells will fill the stagger gauge more per attack, so just dont do jack shit until Vanille blows him up, then spam Light. As you get stronger, you wont want Lightning hitting him at all before he's staggered.
When I first got to Gran Pulse, I found a better spot to farm CP. It yields 2900 or 2950 CP per fight, but the fight lasted for around 30 to 40 seconds. Finish the fight, run far enough away, turn around and go back and they will respawn. I got in about 1 fight a minute. Now, I can do the fight in 15 seconds and get a fight in every 40 to 45 seconds. I still find it faster than the Behemoths.
I also found another good spot, but you need to have a better CP progression. Inside the area where you have to go to, which is right down the hill and to the right, which is right after the battle in this video, progress through the cave until it splits into 2 paths at a save/shop point. Go left. Go until the end when you see a big closed gate. There should be a group of Automatons. That would be it. Kill them, walk to the big closed gate, enter the battle, hit retry, then fight the Automatons.
I cannot remember how much CP those Automatons gave me, but I believed that if I had decided to exploit this, I would have been able to get more CP per minute than my other method.
I am wondering if you would make another video that are ALREADY mastered of ATB-Level (which they get fifth ATB gauge at this point) and see if it's possible to kill Behemoth King before it gets transform? o__o I tried to copy what you did in battle but only the difference is that our ATB gauges... I mastered all everybody (except Vanille for without her Eidolon but gained fourth ATB gauge though)... Just curious is all! ^__^ Good job to show this up to see how can it get a lot of CP earlier. :)
Great tutorial, I edited it slightly, since the King would transform, even using only 4 attacks, so I changed Lightning's COM to RAV, works like a charm! Thanks again!!!

PLEASE NOTE: If you attack the King Behemoth 5 times instead of 4 before he gets staggered it seems to trigger the transformation...so if you have 5 ATB...manually put in 4 attacks, not 5.
@lokitaru And ironicly after about 2 hours 30 minutes of grinding this i was overpowering the king behe and on my first 4 strikes with Lightining i was driving him to transform lol. and after a further 30 minutes of being careful with my attacks, i was only getting 2.2k CP per fight :'< still a REALLY good farming spot tho!

Have light stagger each of the beasts with 'deprotect' her first sab. Stagger behemoth first, than dog thing. Takes like 2 hits, and doesn't cause behmoth to switch cause of low damage points.
Switch to 2, have light go after behemoth and fang with auto take on the dog.
45 seconds tops for when I first got to pulse. 23 with main 3 paradigms maxed.
@nicolehasniceneos most players would not have ventured into the Saboteur role for Lightning, and Deprotect requires 21,000 CP. but it's alright, i'll grant you that. it is still impossible for Lightning to take down the Behemoth King by herself with these stats.
i'm not claiming this to be the be all and end all video guide to farming CP. it's a one size fits all strategy because virtually everyone would have Haste at this point.
@nicolehasniceneos i have no idea why you would farm these dudes with maxed primary roles because you can already go for Growth Egg and progress through the story without having any trouble.
@bumbleblym Yeah, that's true. I started to get Light as a Sab from the fifth ark. And I don't know.. I have the growth egg & I've completed some of Titan's trials but these two seem so comfortable, hah.
This is a good strat for anyone struggling at the start of chapter 11. I used Rav Com com. Pref with Light, fang, and sazh. I had shit weapons lvl ones exp lights 1st weap on lvl 18. So its easily doable and faster than this. Stagger behemoth king asap x x x straight up. Also have Aurora Scarf * on Light. As soon as he's staggered Fang will be in her 2nd attack and knock him in the air. 8 out of 10 goes it works. If he transforms restart.
@bumbleblym I have tried just before I was about to turn off my ps3 and suprisingly this worked very well...because I was also low lvl instead of vanille i tried hope because of protect

i think the best farming spot is, fighting the cactuar's... if you let them mature while synergizing your whole team then turn one person in your team to a sentinel while the others are some type of attackers you can take it down pretty easy, that'll give you 15,000 worth of cp in one fight 30,000 if you have the growth egg.
p.s. make sure your sentinel has a full set of pain dampeners and it'll be a lot better.
ok its down to either vanille dosnt attack quick enought o stagger the behemoth before he transforms or lightning cant kill it before the staggers up. i dont get it i had no problem last night.
@therikoforever Well the reason is that your guys evolved, I started having the same problem after i grew stronger, the behemoth's transformation is triggered by the amount of dmg he receives, so u just gotta manually use just 1-2 attacks and then wait vanille to stagger and then u can do the usual...although once ur that evolvedf u should be able to kill it's transformed state too anyways
This was working for me for a while. But now when im waiting for vanille to stagger the monster it recovers itself. It just randomly started happening. Anyway to get around this? Ive done this 10 times and now the last 7 she waits to long and then i lose
@gvirus oh that must be it. Damn it. Well hey if you need another spot to boost go to where all the little bird things r on the west side. Just take fang snow and light. Make sure they all know blitz and then just use cerburus. I get 3100 each time in 20 seconds
i fount the easyest way with low lvl charecters is have lightning hope and vanille and just have 2 presets the 1 u start with as com,rev,rev then second rev,rev,rev for quick killing of second monster happy gaming :] x
Whenever I enter a fight with two types of monsters killing each other they ALWAYS all turn on me even if I don't attack. Makes no difference what I do.
Um...I'm guessing it's bad that I never changed weapons the whole game? I still jar the default for every character but each ranging from level 8-13. I'm screwed. -.-
@SMDpeps Pretty much yeah, it's in the large plains as soon as you enter it and you get the ability to do Cei'th Stone quests, very early in the chapter.
wow I stopped playing a few months ago came back and I am now at this point with 2000 base Hp for Light...I have no idea how u were able to progress the game so far with so low base health, mag, and str, stats. As a vet of FF I've learned to LOVE spending hrs of time leveling. If you can please fill me in on your methods on story progression with such bad stats. this is a crazy thought to me as I have around 550 str and 500 mag for all my party members at this point in the game.
@Dantedevil56Gunz it's actually a Treasure Sphere drop back in Chapter 02: The Pulse Vestige. you'll eventually need it for the Treasure Hunter trophy/achievement, but luckily you can purchase this one from the weapon shop. do check if you missed the other items that cannot be found in the shops though!
@inorganicgrain are those hobbit robots tough? cause I just entered the plains and tested the waters against a adamantoise and he raped me with 10,000+ damage on all members. :(

@juanisbeast123 no... im currently working on mine right now... on this cp location too... try rav/rav/rav to stagger the behemoth easy (i have light, vanille,hope) once he's staggered, turn to com/rav/rav... he'll die in no time... then shift to rav/rav/rav again to stagger the other dude.. then shift to com/rav/rav again to kill him.. takes no more than a minute to do this...
@juanisbeast123 theres also a better one in taejins tower, go to the fifth teir to wear those 5 robots are, use lighting hope and fang, COM/COM/COM first if hope has commando, use blitz blitz attack then switch to RAV/RAV/RAV if fang has ravenger and then stager all of them or try to by using watera/ga, switch back to cerberus, and kill them, then go upstairs fight the cie'th that's up there and the robots respawn then go back down and repeat, its like 12,000 cp every 3 mins :D
My characters were fang/sahz/lighning in com/rav/rav. At first I tried and killed them but then the BK kept transforming too fast so I took off some str equipment off of Fang and now it works fine farming.
It works better with COM/RAV/RAV with fang as commando and hope and lightning as a ravanger I do that all the time and never died once. You just have to wait til hope and lightning stager and finish their attacks and then launch it.
you're better off coming back once you get the lion heart, and you should use Fang in the party. With Lion Heart, Lightning will stagger them regardless if what she uses even commando, and fang will atk the other to keep it in near stagger state, so you can kill the other once you're done with the staggered target
@cloudtheavenger you only get the Lionheart in Chapter 12 :) by the way pay attention to my incredibly low stats; i tried lots of different strategies and one can say this is the only foolproof method i found.
@bumbleblym it's only foolproof if you attack the behemoth first, before it has a chance to stand up some go after that white thing first which is basically suicide with those low stats, but you went for the behemoth first so I must say you're smart. Oh btw Mission 55 is around the area where you fight bartendelus for the 2nd time it gives a growth egg which doubles CP you gain from battles in case you haven't found it yet
@cloudtheavenger umm i'm not even close to being strong enough to get the Growth Egg in this video :3 and cm'on, you can't seriously be saying it's only foolproof if i attack the behemoth first; you may as well say this strategy won't work if i don't have haste?
i've actually platinum-ed this game twice and this is the most accessible method from experience. no need to delve into secondary roles, no need to progress through the chapter. just hit Gran Pulse and one can start grinding XP.
@bumbleblym the Growth Egg boss is not immune to death it's not immune to death just do SAB/SEN/MED with Vanielle, Fang, and Hope, once the big one's dead take the offensive. you just need patience and lots of it once I killed bertandelus I stayed behind and fought and beat that thing, I looked up the final fantasy wiki and the guide I bought pretty helpful when you wanna get ahead of everyone else early in the game you just need patience on that boss and lots of it
@cloudtheavenger are you joking? how am i supposed to defeat Barthandelus with <500 stats, which is required to get to Mission 55? i don't think you understand just how low my combined stats are.
@bumbleblym I used to be stuck on that spot for months and I even quit for most of the time I was stuck there believe it or not but that was because I didn't fully understand the roles, but when I understood how important SAB was I beat him with pretty low stats
My strategy, and the one that worked the best, was Fang Vanille and Sahz going Sab/Sab/Syn and focusing Behemot right away (for some odd reason Fang will keep atacking the wolf, so they both get staggered realy quick) then change to Com/Rav/Rav and with Fang using launch the behemot wont trnsform and he'd die before getting out of stagger, the wolf is quite anoying but he also dies pretty quick with Launch and if he's still alive smite should finish him when the stagger fells
@AlexLong1000 lol my first play through when i got this far i was in the 1500's already xD...thats how bad i sucked that i needed to upgrade my weapons and CP through the crap farming before hand...
@WhoiCanBe Oh yeah, me too on my first playthrough I did too. I always upgraded weapons, it was only on subsequent playthroughs that I realized upgraded weapons aren't THAT important, this early in the game anyway. I always, however, grind a lot and max out CP, cause I'm really paranoid about being underlevelled. xD
@AlexLong1000 me too...i hate being unable to fight a boss effecivly if i can't even get a good hit in =)...(though ive only played through once...and logged over 120 hours, so a break is NECCESARY xD)
@AlexLong1000 well i had just 370 total base stats; i skipped EVERY fight when possible except for intel. so if you say you grind a lot, i really can't see how you hit Chapter 11 with only 500 stats. go check that save :P

@HugenVonDong yup. but if you were weaker you'll need that Commando to extend the Stagger duration long enough to slay the Behemoth. i opted for the most accessible strategy that anybody can tweak when their characters become 'too strong'.

@wesley2202 Use Fang,Lightning and Hope. At the beginning of the battle,use Protection paradigm,Hope will put shells and shrouds on all of the characters. Then switch to Relentle

This is a good strat for anyone struggling at the start of chapter 11. I used Rav Com com. Pref with Light, fang, and sazh. I had shit weapons lvl ones exp lights 1st weap on lvl 18. So its easily doable and faster than this. Stagger behemoth king asap x x x straight up. Also have Aurora Scarf * on Light. As soon as he's staggered Fang will be in her 2nd attack and knock him in the air. 8 out of 10 goes it works. If he transforms restart.

i think the best farming spot is, fighting the cactuar's... if you let them mature while synergizing your whole team then turn one person in your team to a sentinel while the others are some type of attackers you can take it down pretty easy, that'll give you 15,000 worth of cp in one fight 30,000 if you have the growth egg.
p.s. make sure your sentinel has a full set of pain dampeners and it'll be a lot better.

ok its down to either vanille dosnt attack quick enought o stagger the behemoth before he transforms or lightning cant kill it before the staggers up. i dont get it i had no problem last night.

@therikoforever Well the reason is that your guys evolved, I started having the same problem after i grew stronger, the behemoth's transformation is triggered by the amount of dmg he receives, so u just gotta manually use just 1-2 attacks and then wait vanille to stagger and then u can do the usual...although once ur that evolvedf u should be able to kill it's transformed state too anyways

i fount the easyest way with low lvl charecters is have lightning hope and vanille and just have 2 presets the 1 u start with as com,rev,rev then second rev,rev,rev for quick killing of second monster happy gaming :] x

@SMDpeps Pretty much yeah, it's in the large plains as soon as you enter it and you get the ability to do Cei'th Stone quests, very early in the chapter.

wow I stopped playing a few months ago came back and I am now at this point with 2000 base Hp for Light...I have no idea how u were able to progress the game so far with so low base health, mag, and str, stats. As a vet of FF I've learned to LOVE spending hrs of time leveling. If you can please fill me in on your methods on story progression with such bad stats. this is a crazy thought to me as I have around 550 str and 500 mag for all my party members at this point in the game.

@Dantedevil56Gunz it's actually a Treasure Sphere drop back in Chapter 02: The Pulse Vestige. you'll eventually need it for the Treasure Hunter trophy/achievement, but luckily you can purchase this one from the weapon shop. do check if you missed the other items that cannot be found in the shops though!

Even those wolf things that's running around the map that's usually in packs of 3 or 4 raped me.

and fight those robots , put Sahz on your team so he can support with magic and keep fighting them intill
Vanelle have 4000 hp or more . and then contineu but dont restart the game

@juanisbeast123 no... im currently working on mine right now... on this cp location too... try rav/rav/rav to stagger the behemoth easy (i have light, vanille,hope) once he's staggered, turn to com/rav/rav... he'll die in no time... then shift to rav/rav/rav again to stagger the other dude.. then shift to com/rav/rav again to kill him.. takes no more than a minute to do this...

@juanisbeast123 theres also a better one in taejins tower, go to the fifth teir to wear those 5 robots are, use lighting hope and fang, COM/COM/COM first if hope has commando, use blitz blitz attack then switch to RAV/RAV/RAV if fang has ravenger and then stager all of them or try to by using watera/ga, switch back to cerberus, and kill them, then go upstairs fight the cie'th that's up there and the robots respawn then go back down and repeat, its like 12,000 cp every 3 mins :D

My characters were fang/sahz/lighning in com/rav/rav. At first I tried and killed them but then the BK kept transforming too fast so I took off some str equipment off of Fang and now it works fine farming.

It works better with COM/RAV/RAV with fang as commando and hope and lightning as a ravanger I do that all the time and never died once. You just have to wait til hope and lightning stager and finish their attacks and then launch it.

you're better off coming back once you get the lion heart, and you should use Fang in the party. With Lion Heart, Lightning will stagger them regardless if what she uses even commando, and fang will atk the other to keep it in near stagger state, so you can kill the other once you're done with the staggered target

@cloudtheavenger you only get the Lionheart in Chapter 12 :) by the way pay attention to my incredibly low stats; i tried lots of different strategies and one can say this is the only foolproof method i found.

@bumbleblym it's only foolproof if you attack the behemoth first, before it has a chance to stand up some go after that white thing first which is basically suicide with those low stats, but you went for the behemoth first so I must say you're smart. Oh btw Mission 55 is around the area where you fight bartendelus for the 2nd time it gives a growth egg which doubles CP you gain from battles in case you haven't found it yet

@cloudtheavenger umm i'm not even close to being strong enough to get the Growth Egg in this video :3 and cm'on, you can't seriously be saying it's only foolproof if i attack the behemoth first; you may as well say this strategy won't work if i don't have haste?
i've actually platinum-ed this game twice and this is the most accessible method from experience. no need to delve into secondary roles, no need to progress through the chapter. just hit Gran Pulse and one can start grinding XP.

@bumbleblym the Growth Egg boss is not immune to death it's not immune to death just do SAB/SEN/MED with Vanielle, Fang, and Hope, once the big one's dead take the offensive. you just need patience and lots of it once I killed bertandelus I stayed behind and fought and beat that thing, I looked up the final fantasy wiki and the guide I bought pretty helpful when you wanna get ahead of everyone else early in the game you just need patience on that boss and lots of it

I love how Sazh and Vanille voiced their reluctance to go along with this.
This should be easy for me to implement. I'm 100% sure my stats (HP and all) are a good deal higher than what's shown here.

My strategy, and the one that worked the best, was Fang Vanille and Sahz going Sab/Sab/Syn and focusing Behemot right away (for some odd reason Fang will keep atacking the wolf, so they both get staggered realy quick) then change to Com/Rav/Rav and with Fang using launch the behemot wont trnsform and he'd die before getting out of stagger, the wolf is quite anoying but he also dies pretty quick with Launch and if he's still alive smite should finish him when the stagger fells

I always upgraded weapons, it was only on subsequent playthroughs that I realized upgraded weapons aren't THAT important, this early in the game anyway. I always, however, grind a lot and max out CP, cause I'm really paranoid about being underlevelled. xD

@AlexLong1000 well i had just 370 total base stats; i skipped EVERY fight when possible except for intel. so if you say you grind a lot, i really can't see how you hit Chapter 11 with only 500 stats. go check that save :P

@HugenVonDong yup. but if you were weaker you'll need that Commando to extend the Stagger duration long enough to slay the Behemoth. i opted for the most accessible strategy that anybody can tweak when their characters become 'too strong'.

@wesley2202 Use Fang,Lightning and Hope. At the beginning of the battle,use Protection paradigm,Hope will put shells and shrouds on all of the characters. Then switch to Relentle
