Marco is a pretty good drummer but I prefer Grossman and Goulon over him any day of the week. Anyone hear Christian Muenzner's new album Timewarp?? It's the best instrumental album I ever heard. He's the dude that recorded Epitaph with Necrophagist. Oh and it has Hannes Grossman from Epitaph too. Everyone check it out! The first song is whatever but every other song is MIND BLOWING!! I think what you are hearing are actually embellishments he's adding in the bass drum. The issue is more that he isn't using triggered heads, so some of the diddles he's adding in aren't cutting through as much (more of a head response problem). In any case, it is a live performance. Buy the album or a drum machine if you want absolute perfection.

I've always thought that a natural bass drum tone makes for a heavier sound in metal.

You may not be able to hear the faster parts quite as clearly, but I think it's worth it.

Marko's fills and blasts from 2:30 on are pretty weak compared to the studio version. He's a great drummer but not as well suited for Necrophagist as Hannes or Romain IMO

Something is sketchy with the part right before they switch off soloing, around 3:53, anybody else notice that? There are three guitars going on, You've got Muhammed playing the backing riff for the solo, while Sami's coming into the solo, and then there's a random single vibrato note? Weird.
