  • As architects it is our duty to touch peoples lives. To make them love where they are and what they have. That is the beauty of architecture and that is the task given to us. I'm still a student and it will be my job to make this happen.

  • If you have something negative to say about this, go watch Lady Gaga or read a comic book. It's more in your league.

  • Nathaniel Kahn, Your father did for us special thing.we will remember him forever. god bless you !!

  • I am from Bangladesh, it really is an exquisite building. We are proud to have it and we thank him for it. A shame that the people within do not match the grace of the exterior.

  • Nathaniel if you are reading this....a big thank you... thanks for sharing your story. I have visited Dhaka, Bangladesh and seen this extrodinary building.

  • a very moving tribute by the Indian architect - so much gratitude - a rare gift

  • @claudelebel55 He's a Bangladeshi Architect & Professor

  • a great building but this clip is dreadfully dull.

  • @foodforchew dull ? are you kiding. This is not about entertaining the mind. It is about touching the soul. How can so much beauty, so much heartfelt gratitude be dull ?

  • one of Louis khan's best work the I have seen

  • The most unexpected TEDtalks tend to effect me emotionally. a strange surprise

  • You can never tell by the title...

...I only watched this because it was the only recent one I hadn't seen.

    :)

  • I was deliberately avoiding it because I didn't think it would be interesting. Shortly after it began it appeared that my fears were realized, but the ending was really good. Glad I watched it.

  • inspiring. god bless him :)

  • Lol @ 6:30

  • New intro.

    Is this win?

I like the fact that it doesn't pound your ears in the very beginning, but it doesn't get me as ready (for lack of a better term) for a fast-paced talk.

  • I like it much better.

  • i totally agree, the drumroll always gave me goose bumps, i miss it.

  • it is a win. with some good speakers, the bass really thumps

  • The video itself is about finding the answer of why his father was not around, and instead of focusing on the technical aspect of his wonderful architectural legacy, it focused on what it means to them, a great source of pride for the community, it explains the humanism beyond the design and usefulness of the structure.

  • thank you for changing the opening music i hated it!!!

  • haha, I agree! But you must agree that the previous tune still was far, far less annoying than the one before it :)

  • LOL 6:13 the guy in the back ground

  • True Humanness is beautiful.

  • The film sounds a little egotistical and narcissitic. much like the children of famous personalities who often garner tremendous ego of themselves simply by being related to their forefather. It would've been interesting to listen to Kahn if he was still alive, or at least his son talk about it himself, but showing an already known documentary is kind of useless.

  • Fantastic architecture, a very unique building. It is not easy to keep building in uncertain times, in uncertain times and over a long period of time you have to have good foresight and character to have something like this finished. It was obviously worth building it.

  • pedagogically

  • There is an unusual amount of negative commentary on this video, and to those people I would say; you're missing the point.

  • I totally agree. The emotion the last speaker has is alone video worthy

  • @GreasedMunky I agree. The depth of love and gratitude shown by the speaker is incredibly moving. I highly recommend the movie.

  • I feel like this would've been more interesting if I heard of Louis Kahn. But unfortunately I don't know anything about architecture. This wasn't exactly.. informative, if you aren't at least passingly familiar with his work.

  • this was the most retarded ted talks ever. IT WASNT EVEN A TALK! it was a short intro and then a boring video.

TED talks are getting worse and less significant...im gonna unsubscribe soon

  • It is a shame that a great, creative genius's work is being used by a corrupt government that is keeping it's people poor through numerous and intrusive laws.

Great inventors lose control of their inventions. Powerful inventions can be used for ill as well as good.

  • @freesk8

My thoughts exactly, and I'm from Bangladesh. However, I really liked the last speaker's perspective, and besides that there's a deeper level to all this than how a corrupt government is making use of the building.

  • i have the DVD. great movie!

  • COME ON!

this is the best you have?? THIS!?

the 12 sustainable designs of nature was the most inspiring to me, this is just shit

  • Very interesting - it was amazingly good for my gloomy mood.

  • Your farth was a Legend, thanks for this video.

  • im sure your farth was a legend too lol
